  1. Inclined to agree. I'm hanging onto Arcia pretty much no matter what though. Unless I'm blown away, which won't happen with the season he's having.
  2. Teams don't give up solid MLB contributors when they are trying to compete, unless they are addressing another weakness on their roster. I don't see them as having any gaping holes that need to be plugged, so that doesn't appear realistic. Dyson is replacement level and makes $2MM the rest of the season. That's a big deal with their tax situation. There's a reason for them to move him.
  3. For a guy that throws hard his K rate is abysmal for a reliever. He's been OK this year, but he was a complete disaster last year. 2016 he was good, but again, the K rate....yuck. He does get a lot of groundballs with that sinker though, which makes him a good fit for us. I'd still pass though. I'd rather have Houser. Trading Dyson doesn't signal them giving up. It signals them getting rid of an average player (at best) player while saving themselves some precious money.
  4. Assuming Burnes is in the pen for the rest of the season (and I think he will be), Dyson isn't better than anyone we already have. Pass. Smith? Hell yes. I'd give up some stuff for him, but the Giants won't trade him I wouldn't think. They want to remain competitive while dumping salary. Fine line for them. Edit: Jinx
  5. Did you know she was born in Milwaukee? Also she is still alive? I didn't know either of these things until 30 seconds ago. I knew she was born in Milwaukee. 8 year old me thought that was super-cool for some reason.
  6. No reason to muddy the waters. Three team trades are more off-season type deals. KISS Reminds me of arguably one of the most famous deadline trades in history that was a four team deal involving the Red Sox and Cubs... July 31, 2004: The Boston Red Sox sent Nomar Garciaparra and Matt Murton to the Chicago Cubs. The Minnesota Twins sent Doug Mientkiewicz to the Boston Red Sox. The Montreal Expos sent Orlando Cabrera to the Boston Red Sox. The Chicago Cubs sent Francis Beltran, Alex Gonzalez and Brendan Harris to the Montreal Expos. The Chicago Cubs sent Justin Jones (minors) to the Minnesota Twins. Yep, the Red Sox win precisely nothing without Cabrera.
  7. Always enjoy those posts Joseph. Thanks again.
  8. Agreed. I still wouldn't be crazy about it, but I could live with it and won't deny I'd be excited about having Machado the rest of this season. I sure hope Stearns doesn't blink, though, and end up offering Burnes. In fact, if I was Stearns I would say the offer gets reduced as we creep closer to the deadline. An extra 2-3 weeks of Machado makes a significant difference. I'm guessing Machado is a Brewer before the end of the week. This right here. I'm hesitant considering Machado's defense, and I kinda like both those guys, but I could live with it. I'd rather deal Woodruff than Ortiz.
  9. Nope. I’m right there with you. It would be doing the opposite of what I thought we were doing as an organization. I really was pumped to think we were headed in a different direction. A move like that makes me think Stearns will try to parlay this job into a larger market one. I agree on Arcia. I'm not trading him for Machado. I have no idea what your last sentence means.
  10. You have to think that the Brewers have told the Orioles a date that the need to know by. I guess they could wait to the ASG, but don't see why any longer than that. I hope/assume they have had talks with Minnesota about Escobar and are leveraging that. He doesn't have the track record of hitting as well as this year and he has done much better at home historically. Still be an improvement if he falls back to a .750 OPS guy. Acquire him with much less cost. Switch hitter. Could take a few days at 3B for Shaw. I assume Escobar's defense is similar to or better than Machado at SS. Plus the Twins should want the Brewers to be good, right. Sell more tickets for those crossover games. Escobar is also a bad shortstop. But nowhere near Machado-bad. At least based on this year's small sample. He's also only playing shortstop about a quarter of the time.
  11. I had posted something similar a few pages back in this thread - the recent injuries (right achilles rupture, Dec 2017 and left forearm/knee soreness throughout the 2017 season) are still of concern. But the achilles is on his landing leg and the arm/knee toubles from last season appear to be behind him. As Britton continues to build up strength (he's basically gone through his spring training over this past month of MLB appearances due to the achilles recovery), there will be a high demand for him. I think the Orioles are foolish to try and package Britton with Machado, because they'd probably get better value by trading Machado before the AS Break, and then continuing to showcase Britton right up to the trade deadline to prove he's healthy and slightly lower what remaining 2018 salary he'd have. If his velocity keeps creeping back into that 97-98 range, he'd be a stretch run difference maker at the back end of someone's bullpen. I don't mind Britton if it's strictly a salary dump. Money is no object for this season. I'm giving up nothing for him though. Not a guy that can be counted on health-wise.
  12. If all you ask of them is 5 innings if they aren't on their game or we aren't out to an 8-1 lead, I think they can probably keep it up. They're only facing the order twice unless we have a reason to keep them going. Exactly my thoughts. Our bullpen is good enough to go 4-5 innings a game (especially in the playoffs). I still think Houser needs to be in the Majors full time, and who knows what (if he's around) Burnes brings to the table. If the starting rotation can go 5 innings and give up 0-2 runs, this team is sitting pretty. Yep. If Houser and Burnes can effectively replace Barnes, yowza. A pen of Knebel, Hader, JJ, Jennings, Williams, Houser & Burnes could be scary good. Edit: Forgot about a healthy Albers. Even better.
  13. Man, I'm going to be unhappy if the give up Brown in addition to Woodruff. And Phillips as well? No way from me. I'm fine with Woodruff and a couple fliers, but that's it for me. And I understand that probably won't get it done. Edit: Also, they can keep Zach Britton. Yuck.
  14. Sorry, I guess I'm just getting antsy. I don't get how some posters are ready to throw Woodruff, Broxton and more at Machado, while the same guys are saying Burnes is untouchable. I mean is it simply because Burnes is less known? Both have solid middle of the rotation profiles. Woodruff is about 20 months older than Burnes. I mean, it's gotta be because Woodruff has ben kicking around the system longer, and already has MLB experience, right? Are we going to be looking at Burnes the same way at this time next year if he doesn't dominate at the MLB level? To me the two are interchangeable. Burnes was significantly better than Woodruff at a younger age at the same levels in the minors. That's why for me anyway. I still like Woodruff quite a bit as well, but I'd keep Burnes despite his struggles this year. I write that off to CS and him working on some things.
  15. From that fan message board: *Closes laptop* *Throws it into the Fox River* Yep. I was going to mention that one too.
  16. Yeah I'd do Woodruff/Ortiz/Stokes quickly.
  17. Doesn't take a lot to connect the dots that Woodruff is the headliner in a potential Machado package. He said connecting the dots, so just an educated guess. I’d have to agree with him though. If MLB ready pitchers are the target (or pitchers in general) he makes the most logical sense. Trading Peralta probably isn’t happening and Burnes is likely off-limits. Next best in line is Woodruff. Solid prospects, but not too much to give up for a rental. I’d at least say Woodruff is likely a piece being dangled for Machado. I mean, if Woodruff is the headliner I cant believe the Brewers are getting him. And man oh man would i love to eat some crow on that one.
  18. Doesn't take a lot to connect the dots that Woodruff is the headliner in a potential Machado package. Where are you getting that?
  19. I think he may go get Machado. I hope he doesn't, but I think he might.
  20. Yeah he's really having a break out season. Walks still hurt him a bit hence the low innings per start but he's a stud. Yeah, I mention in last night's IGT that he has given up 59 hits in 89 innings and 5 runs in his last 9 starts. Gonna be a tough one. We need good Freddy tonight.
  21. I think it is probably his injury at play. He is on pace for 21 HR, 19 SB, 98 R, .830 OPS over a full season not including the DL stint which made him miss over 10% of the season. He maybe didn't take the step up people thought he would be he is at least on pace for a normal year. Not sure what people are expecting. 830 ops would be 2nd best of his career, He is on pace to tie his career high in hrs, BA and OBP right at his career average. Seems pretty good to me Agree. This is what Yelich is. Just a really good player in every facet No complaints from me.
