  1. Not sure how you could be against Chipper while being for Vlad, honestly. They're pretty identical hitters while Jones played a tougher position. Agree with you on Hoffman.
  2. He turns 32 in April and even at the end of a 4 year deal, he'll be younger than Mike Cameron was the day he put a Brewer uniform on the first time. Cain is a professional hitter and plus defender who can run. ,300 hitters who strike out under 100 times per year don't grow on trees. Yeah but Mike Cameron should be in the Hall of Fame. I don't see Cain as a wise investment and I wonder whether as many people on here would want him if he wasn't a former Brewer. Is this some inside joke I'm not aware of?
  3. We get it. Everyone on the team is garbage and we should trade all them because they are all going to regress. For the rest of you fine folks with regard to this statement, no....just no. Right, 1 WAR in 750+ MLB plate appearances. I'm just hot taking all over the place. 1 fWAR, 2.3 bWAR as a 21 and 22 year old shortstop. I think you're being a little hard on him.
  4. The odds are very long that Arcia was added. He's not going anywhere.
  5. Votto is the better player. His contract is unbelievably bad though. Yelich is vastly more valuable than Votto.
  6. Nope, taking Prado is an essential part of this trade. Removing him would require the Brewers to throw another organizational top 10 prospect in the mix. Probably Erceg as the trade would likely include two other outfielders (so not Ray or Grisham). Would throw in Castro for a minor prospect...someone like Carlos Herrera, Zack Brown or Demi Orimoloye. Is this pure speculation, or do you know something? Because this is written like an absolute, and Prado's name hasn't been bandied about anywhere. He wouldn't be a bad guy to have, but with Perez already on the team, he would be somewhat redundant. He's going strictly by surplus value. I don't think the Marlins care much about their payroll at this point. Edit: I'm going to retract that last part. Their payroll will still be around $70,000,000 (Plus $13,000,000 to buy out Volguez) after a Yelich trade. Assuming they get all minimum guys.
  7. His interest in Yelich is not abandoning a rebuild. It's looking to improve the organization. I firmly this is what he does everyday, whether it's major league or rookie league. A deal for Yelich signals nothing other than we got a really good player and probably gave up some really good prospects.
  8. True. I'll try to do better. I hate it and I still did it.
  9. And I thank the Lord you're not. See how easy that is?
  10. For me it's because I see Hiura as the better prospect making Diaz expendable. And hes valuable.
  11. Yeah, I really don't see that as being crazy. With better defense most likely.
  12. I don't think you're crazy or anything. I kind of agree, I'd rather see that, but at the same time, Yelich has the potential to be a 6 WAR CF. He's just entering his prime and he's cheap. That's exciting to me. Even if you make him a 20 WAR player over 5 years that's some pretty serious value for under $60,000,000.
  13. I'd be comfortable with that. I'd be surprised if that got it done, but who really knows?
  14. It is one of my most desired. Yelich is what I pray Brinson or Phillips will turn into, a .300, 25 HR, .375-.400 OBP player. It will likely take one of them, but if somehow the Brewers could have a trade centered around Santana for Yelich, I am all in. Agreed, especially when you consider he's a nice upgrade on defense too (and a lefty). He's not much of a centerfielder, but I'd still leave him there where his bat is premium. Defense can fluctuate pretty greatly year-to-year. Braun/Yelich/Santana is a great hitting outfield but the defense could be pretty bad.
  15. Not sure how knowledgeable this guy is but........
  16. Or they could simply sign Moustakas with the Kipnis money. Edt: Also, Mejia is a pipe dream. Not happening.
  17. $16.5/$2.5 club option I'm on board for a Kipnis/Salazar for Santana type deal. Salazar is fantastic when healthy.
  18. If we are doing this. The window opens this season. But, if we are doing this, the window may close on us soon. We would really deplete the farm with this type of off-season. Not only that but you would probably have to sign a few more players (Cain, Oh) to even make it worth it to do something like this. Yeah, I wouldn't make both trades. One in conjunction with Darvish or just one trade. I wasn't very clear on that.
  19. Of the things talked about here I would like to do 2 of: Sign Darvish only if under 5/120 or less Trade for Archer Trade for Salazar Obviously dependent upon returns for those last 2, but I sure would like to add 2 starters and build some depth. 1 seems realistic and I'd be fine with that too. I don't mind trading some upper level prospects for present big-league value.
  20. So judging by his new signature, maybe looking to go from more like 'cubsdie' to ' something more like 'IWishMinorButTreatableInjuryUponTheCubs.' I like it! I was thinking CubsBusCrashesNoFatalitiesButSomePrettyBadInjuries
  21. $13 this year, arb next year ($17 maybe?), so roughly $17 more than Thames over 2 years. Well worth it, depending on the players added to Thames, which would be significant I'm guessing.
  22. Yeah I found that funny too. Cleveland Detroit Cinicinnati White Sox Cubs Milwaukee Philadelphia Mets Yankees Washington Boston St. Louis All closer than Minnesota. Odd.
  23. I know I am. I'd take Kershaw too despite his bad post season record.
  24. Not enough for Shaw, in my opinion. To me this deal would essentially be Shaw for Torres and Broxton for the rest, and I would think we'd have to be getting at least one more top prospect for Shaw to make it worth moving him. Isn't Torres like the 2nd ranked prospect in baseball? Yes, and Ellsbury is roughly the 2nd worst contract in baseball. I agree with Greenleaf. I don't think it's really that close. That's roughly Betances and Abreu for Shaw. No thanks.
