  1. I find this so odd from somebody who loved Isan Diaz so much. Look at both players' last 2 years. They're eerily similar, except one steals bases and is purported to be a plus defender at a more difficult position while the other has a little more power. If I didn't know anything about either other than their stats and defensive reputations, I would conclude that Dubon was the better prospect, although it'd be close. I would not trade Dubon were I the Brewers. I think it'd be selling very low on him.
  2. Correct, I have no idea what was offered, but I would've taken very little to move him personally.
  3. What the heck does this even mean? We missed with him? He came out of nowhere, and had a great half season. Nagging injuries caught up with him last year. What did they miss with? That makes no sense. Trading him at the 16 deadline like some of us begged them to do.
  4. ^^^Yep. He's a Dodger in my opinion. Just a matter of when.
  5. Is that you John Madden? Yeah, his post was strangely worded, but if you phrase it as: "Will the first of the big 4 SP sign before the Super Bowl kicks off?" Yes -120 No -120 Or whatever, you get the point.
  6. If they deal Kipnis in a trade for an outfielder, I'd think Ramirez goes to 2nd and Yandy Diaz is the 3b.
  7. I agree with the sentiment, but I think the bolded is pretty optimistic. He will be sought after if put on the market.
  8. Yeah, that's a great board. Just ask 'em.
  9. Santana, Ortiz, Diplan, one of houser/bickford/williams, low level lottery ticket. Santana helps them win now and for the next handful of years, and that's a lot of pitching potential heading back. This is the dream scenario. There's literally no one there that I'd be sad to see go. That would be my offer as well. I can't imagine Tampa accepting it, but who knows?
  10. Yep. The bullpen scares me as well. If Logan and Albers are good I think we're fine, but if not, I have no faith in Barnes or Jeffress to step up.
  11. Good post and I appreciate the legwork, but that very slight lack of surplus comes with huuuuge risk, so he becomes less valuable that way too. If they want to get rid of him, they're going to have to pay to do it. How much I don't know.
  12. Broxton for Greinke and we pay him $75,000,000 for 4 years. I'd be great with that.
  13. Good effort. On my quibble would be Santana traded for nobody on the 25 is incredibly unlikely in my opinion. Can't really see Woodruff out of the rotation in this scenario either.
  14. It's $7.5M. I've checked it in 3 different places. No idea where the 15 is coming from.
  15. Ok. I don't think it's remotely obvious. I think they underpaid for Yelich and possibly by a lot. Cain I think was market value for 3 or 4 years, but I think the 5th year hurts. What I know for sure is that no one knows and no one will know for at least 3 years.
  16. Saying anything is definite is just dumb. You sound ridiculous. But I'll leave you to it.
  17. You are correct.
  18. Where's the $15M number coming from? I see him at $7.5M. I don't want him either way though.
  19. Yeah, this isn't true at all. So you're saying the Marlins were in a better spot with Yelich, a guy who demanded a trade, than the Brewers are with Santana, who is, what , blocked I guess? That's quite a reach. And, btw, I like that you're a contrarian. We need those. I just think you're off on this one.
  20. Absolutely nothing. Contract peaks at $15.5 Million in his final year and, in 2017, he was a >3 win pitcher in less than 150 innings. Fangraphs had him at a $27 Million value in 2017 fwiw. If we got Duffy and Merrifield for Santana, we'd win in a major way. That's 6.5 fWAR of production out of positions we need. I see very little shot that happens. Okay He is paid 15mil avg for the next 4 years. He's never started more than 26 games in a season. Has a Career Fip of 3.98 and will be 29years old. Santana is Pre-Arb and 3 years of Arb equal 4 years of control. Younger with a higher ceiling. Salazar has a Career 3.56 Fip having pitched 30games in a season is paid 5mil this season with 2 years of Arb remaining for age 29 and 30 seasons. If we just moved payroll to 100mil Duffy moves it to 115mil (a little under) I think Duffy is an identical clone to a Lohse/Garza someone who will not pitch well in a couple years(if you even consider him pitching well now) Honestly, if Duffy had been a FA right now what are you giving him for a contract? MLBTR gives Cobb a clearly better SP a 4-70mil projection. The Cubs offered 3-42mil supposedly. That is what is wrong with Duffy's contract-it's market value if not over. Santana's is clearly not at market value. The bolded is outright incorrect by pretty much any measure. It's pretty much impossible to have the argument until Cobb signs, but Duffy would get more than 4/60 on the open market in my opinion. The drunk driving obviously complicated things though. He's hard to peg because of that. I'd take him over Cobb, but obviously you get to keep Santana with Cobb. You also have to make Cobb want to come here.
  21. Well, you're nothing if not predictable. I'm not laughing at your opinion, just that I would've bet my life you were going to say it. To make any grand proclamations about getting taken to the cleaners is really, really silly. We'll see.
  22. I'm more confident than ever that we gave up too much now. My first thought too, but opposite.
  23. I'm pretty thrilled with this. I'm really happy we gave up no pitching of note. Yamamoto has 4th starter potential, but he's a long way from reaching it. Despite my avatar, the more I think about Brinson the less I like him. I'm really worried about his ability to stay healthy, or lack thereof. Diaz has a chance to be a good player, but I think he's pretty clearly our 2nd best 2b prospect. He could've been used as a trade chip later, but I won't lose any sleep over losing him. Harrison has the highest ceiling, and when I first heard Brinson, Diaz and 2 others, I was completely thrilled. When i heard Harrison's name I was less so. It scares me to give him up. I think he's unlikely to hit his ceiling, but his ceiling is super-high. Yelich is going to be great here. His power numbers are going to skyrocket in my opinion and hopefully having less ground to cover in center will pull him up to average in cf [unless Cain is incoming]. He is exactly what I feel this team needed in a 2/3 hitter. High OBP, good power and good wheels. And left handed on top of it. He is the perfect offensive addition and he's ours for 5 years pretty cheap. I can certainly understand why some people dislike this deal, but I feel like they'll be over it by Memorial Day. He's going to be a joy to watch
  24. Are you saying Chipper isn't deserving? He might be the 3rd best 3B ever... At worst he's 6th. I just never thought of Chipper being an elite level player good player just not great to me. He's almost the exact same hitter as Guerrero as a 3rd baseman. To each his own I guess.
