  1. i only have a problem with it making news in the first place. not like this has never happened before, but i suppose it's a little different when it's the star player of the star team. if Jeter would have immediately quit his acting once he got awarded 1st, that's fairly disrespectful to the ump, or at least something of a laugh in his face, not to mention Jeter loses some credibility the rest of the game. people have likened this to flopping in basketball or the crying in soccer, but i think there's a big difference because of the frequency of it.
  2. i might take the under just because he's a FA and just won't have the same hitting coach next year.
  3. pitchleague, i read the same article you referred to. i want to say i read it in USA Today.
  4. or going to UW-Platteville. but don't get me wrong, any negativity i might have toward any young and attractive girl only stems from an inability to actually find one for myself:)
  5. one thing that's bugging me is we're only a week into the football season and i've already heard the phrase "it's a must-win game."
  6. i've narrowly missed being in a lot of accidents in roundabouts from people who think they can just plow through and don't actually have to yield to the people already in the roundabout. even had one idiot stop his car, get out and threaten to beat me up for not yielding to HIM.
  7. but eventually you gotta talk to 'em.
  8. leaving for Austin tomorrow. nothing lined up, but it's a better opportunity. love Wisconsin but hate the winters, no jobs at all in Boise. and through Asheville, NC would be absolutely perfect, there are no jobs to speak of in that entire state. the whole of Texas seems to be doing really well economically (relatively speaking), and i think this is a good time of year to go to maybe nab at least a small-time job that keeps me on my feet until something career-like opens up. not a fan of cold weather at all, although the longer i'm out of Wisconsin, the more i realize how the small cultural differences between regions of the country can make a difference.
  9. she has a high Shania Twain factor. watchability is directly proportional to a lower tv volume.
  10. i'll probably get back into the Office because it seems like they'll have a lot of storyline to pack into a single season. Psych Community 30 Rock, maybe. Running Wilde i might check out, just because i think that guy is hilarious. i might check out Family Guy here and there, but last season didn't have a single good episode that i don't care much anymore. otherwise i purposely try to avoid getting into new shows as a way to further ween myself off of watching tv.
  11. excellent. congratulations. doesn't bf.net still sell baby onesies?
  12. Nooo!!! my avatar disappeared! maybe photobucket deleted the picture. hopefully it won't be too hard to find the exact same Jim Duggan picture somewhere else.
  13. name a batting cage in MP after him. and if a little kid makes contact with 1 ball out of 10, they "Beat Ben" and win a prize--maybe one of the Trevor Hoffman commorative 600bbats that MP won't be able to sell.
  14. well said, and i completely agree. not to mention that we could get a guy like Daniel Hudson at the 2011 trading deadline, too. plus no matter what players we get for Fielder, we're probably accepting some drop in production in the short-term just because it will take the Hudsons of the world a few years in the Majors to develop. if a #3 pitcher is all we can get for Fielder in the offseason, then i think we're better off taking the chance that Rogers or some other young starter will have a good season to make us into playoff contenders. the addition of an ok starter won't balance out the offensive loss.
  15. his arm only got hurt when the Brewers changed his motion and had him stop throwing across his body. maybe now that he's back to doing that he can stay healthier even with a wrong motion. being in the majors at 24 despite missing a ton of time is an impressively quick rise to this level.
  16. i haven't been to many at all, but since nobody has mentioned Coors Field yet i'll add that it's a beautiful park. sit in the bleachers for a night game and you get the sunset over the mountains to your right, and the immediate city skyline to your right. the fan atmosphere is atrocious, but a gorgeous park.
  17. Lincecum making the leap from great prospect to best in the NL is as unpredictable as Jeffress or Rogers doing the same thing. no "prospect status" ranking is going to predict that.
  18. an AL Championship is a special case, too.
  19. I agree with RoCo. it's out of the player's control, but if a player's number were to be retired, i'd like there to be some strong memories attached to it, like being able to tell your kid about 15 years later and beam with nostalgia about how great he was. Hoffman getting his 600th with Milwaukee goes down more in the annals of a trivia question than a player who was so good for Milwaukee that we can't use his number anymore.
  20. i'm still at the optimistic stage. the pessimist side of me says "sure, once we get an awesome group of pitchers established, at that point we'll have zero offense." but i'm not a pessimist, so i won't say that.
  21. if being pretty decent (overall, considering injury time) is sufficient to getting your number retired, then new Brewers players will have to resort to wearing Greek letters in 30 years.
  22. what would you say is the ratio of weirdos/perverts to normal people on Chat Roulette?
  23. and his name sells a lot of jerseys.
  24. How about they hire Lou and keep Mach, too. Macha can actually run things, maybe from the club house...or even better from a suite on the club level. Lou can be in the dugout and do all the things fans think are important, like yelling, kicking dirt on umpires, and ordering bean ball wars. cool, a puppet government. if that's the case instead of Lou i'll take Ulyce Payne since he has experience at that already.
  25. wow, i had no idea about that. and a wifi connection is really simple to get and doesn't cost much, either. i'd given up on the thought of blu-ray, but that'd be great. especially considering they have a huge hi-def tv and my big surround sound system hooked into it, blu-ray would be a nice plus. thanks for the tip--i have a new weekend project. edit: so i wouldn't need a cord to connect to the blu-ray player? the menu allows me to search out a wifi signal?
