  1. Jaguars GM would do well to guarantee the HC has a job next year in order to convince him to lose. Gase has no reason to stop trying with the Jets since he certainly won't be back.
  2. How much is Khris being undervalued just because he's a 'does everything well' player and not a 'does two things exceptionally' player? There's a value to not having to plan around one player's deficiencies. And I don't get the impression that Milwaukee runs many plays through Khris, but instead he plays that "bails us out" role by hitting all those contested shots at the end of the clock. His box scores would look better if he were a bigger focus, but that wouldn't really make him a more valuable player, only a guy who scores more.
  3. Really trying to dip my feet into learning how to analyze a company, analyze against their competition, and then figuring out their intrinsic value. Pages and pages of notes so far and haven't even yet found the formulas for the many different valuation methods out there. Pretty overwhelming so far, but I'm sure things will make more sense as the months move on. Found one site which offers company valuations on different models, but $50/mo isn't worth it for a small-time investor. But recognizing that I'm doing more speculation than investing, which is fine for play money but not so much when it will effect your retirement. Right now starting to look into O, a REIT with a good dividend; and A2 Milk.
  4. Bless this Mess, Fresh off the Boat, etc....I discovered yesterday that 80% of the shows I regularly watch weren't renewed. Not sure if I wanna watch Brooklyn 99 anymore, either.
  5. Expand the playoffs and maybe once every 40 years you'll have a Cincinnati upsetting Alabama. But in that span of time you'll also have 80 games of the underdog losing by 28 in games nobody wants to watch.
  6. Since it's the season, I recommend making your own Bailey's. Caramel is quite good and so is caramel/pumpkin spice. But heads up any spice mix is considerably stronger on the second day.
  7. So Amazon changed Top Gear into a 'specials only' show now since nobody was watching the first two seasons when they moved from the BBC. I've seen the two specials they have out now and they're still so heavily scripted, everything is staged and full of bad jokes. Amazon has turned the three guys into being nothing but bad actors who don't really even seem to have an affinity for cars anymore.
  8. If you're a fan of advanced metrics for basketball, I've read a number of folks who like DiVincenzo more than Bogdan.
  9. Not 'cutting the cord' related, but a youtube channel I sometimes watch is of a younger couple who traveled the world for two years. They said that for a year before they left they signed up for a huge number of travel cards to get those sign-up bonus miles and those "spend $2000 in the first two months for a bonus" cards. Definitely a lot to manage, but it did get them a lot of free flights. Similarly, I have a planned $4000 purchase coming up, so I got the Capital One card just to get that initial-spending bonus.
  10. I've done my reading (could always do more), but still largely speculating and not investing. Really need to carve out more time each week to sit down and take a better look at one or two companies. Thought pharmacies would do better with a vaccine coming our way, but I guess if it needs -70 temperatures to remain good that doesn't really help them. Did very well on Tesla, though I jumped out at $590 after hearing from many that it was overvalued and could potentially face their first vehicle recall. It's still going up, though. But I think once they get their satellite internet service....off the ground... it'll surprise some folks at just how many rural people are wanting better service. Got some Grayscale Bitcoin Trust a couple weeks ago. Turned out to be good timing. But I have absolutely no idea what to think of it going forward or if I should just cut bait.
  11. I get that MLF had to overrule a bunch of folks to draft Love, but either way I don't see how the pick happens in the first place without an established plan in place to replace Rodgers. Long-term drafting is great, but nobody does it four years out. That says to me that it's less likely Rodgers' improved play changes those big plans and more likely that it simply ups his trade value. That said, if Rodgers really is traded and Love isn't Mahomes v.2.0 by Q2 of Game 1, Packer fans are going to implode. I tried to find articles on what Rodgers' trade value would really be and I didn't see much. All I saw was a 1st and a 3rd from NE or DJ Chark from Jacksonville. That's less than I would have guessed. Of course there's also the variable that Rodgers is madder at the Packers than he lets on for drafting Love and ignoring the trade deadline and he just demands a trade.
  12. I keep thinking that for folks who watch the Brewers via internet connection and are subject to blackout dates, one solution could be to get a VPN and just say you're in a different state/country. Regular free Youtube has really upped the number of commercials they show. I'd pay $15/mo just to get those removed.
  13. For baseball I get upset when it gets watered down. For basketball and football I accept that they're just trying to get people to visit because they'll just never compare to Cooperstown. So let them all in. Doesn't matter.
  14. Kevin Durant's shoe deal alone is worth about 30% more than his basketball contract. How much more could Giannis have gotten in shoes and local ads if he were in NY or Miami? Plus if he really wanted to leave, I'm sure whatever team he chose would have done a sign-and-trade with Milwaukee so that they'd be able to tack on that 5th year.
  15. I'm already making that assumption, especially since it wouldn't have to be anything written in the contract. Paul George had that with OKC--"I'll sign the max deal, but if I decide I want out, you have to trade me." It's not like Milwaukee has any leverage to say no.
  16. That's a good point. Let him hit FA and cross your fingers you can get him back for a one-year "until the salary cap goes back up" deal. And ultimately no matter how well Jones works with this team, you're still talking about the quickest-aging and most-replaceable position in the game. Between Bakh, Linsley and an upcoming Davante contract, Jones has to be the odd man out, no?
  17. When all is said and done Giannis will go down as third only to Lombardi and Starr in Wisconsin sports lore. I'll give him the nod over Yount because I'm happy.
  18. Off the cuff I was figuring that the defense works so hard to prevent the deep plays that they become more exposed to the 7-yard gain. Without knowing how to look it up, I presume the SS plays deeper in GB to prevent those big plays at the sacrifice of stopping things like screens a little sooner.
  19. The whole game I kept thinking that it shouldn't have been as close as it was. How do you only score two TDs in the first half against a team with basically no CBs?
  20. I tend to like anything Jason Sudeikis or Will Forte do. Speaking of Will Forte, I think Last Man on Earth is on Netflix now, which is a love-it or hate-it show. I hated most of the first season because I don't enjoy main characters you sorta root against, but they changed the character at the season finale of the first season, and I really liked it from then on.
  21. Watched Ted Lasso based on recommendations here, and you guys were totally right. Really enjoyed it.
  22. What I liked least about that last season wasn't as much the Mother stuff, but that we spent years watching Ted's Id (Barney) slowly grow as a person and in his relationships, and then they just wiped it out in one swoop. May as well have had the married couple divorce just to round out the awfulness.
  23. Wow that'd be awesome. Kareem who?
  24. Time to invest in a good trail camera or security camera. I'm told the group of folks I tend to give a lot of citations to like to throw nails in driveways, put deer parts in mailboxes and sometimes take shots at houses.
  25. Read another article which looked at other players who had ACL tears and how they did afterward. Their production was about cut in half. I have a hard time believing Wall, whose game is predicated on speed to begin with, will be that good in Houston. Next year will be the year Harden finally averages 40 points a game. But I guess that's good for Houston once they trade him to whatever team loses out on Giannis.
