  1. Maybe Love is more the attempt to not become Chicago or Jacksonville a few years down the road. Now ideally they won't be spending five years desperately trying to find their next QB they could call a franchise guy. New England is about to go through it, too. Maybe the comparison isn't so much Rodgers to Favre but Favre to Majkowski. Maybe Gute sees stardom in Love the way Wolf saw it in Favre and doesn't want to let some other team get him. Plus Love's downsides are big positives with Rodgers, so who better to learn from while Love sits for a few years? edit: It's not like we were one slightly better player away from beating SF last year.
  2. Same here. I started using a wake-up light and that's really helped. Gradually turns on to simulate a sunrise, so now I'm either awake before my alarm or at least in a closer-to-awake phase of sleep at the alarm. Still tough to actually get out of bed, but for the most part I'm waking up a little more alert, and that's really helped. My bigger problem is that it's easy for me to accidentally stay up late. So now I've set a sunset light in my living room as a bit of a reminder to go to bed, as well as a timer on my tv plug that turns it off at 10:11 every night. I'd do the same to my router if I didn't need podcasts to sleep to.
  3. I'm always so upset at how my beef roasts turn out, even on the smoker. I want 135 internal, but the connective tissue doesn't start breaking down until about 185. So if you've got a cheaper cut without the fat, you either get an overcooked roast or it's tough as Ray Nitschke. Just did three pastrami bottom round roasts and they're kinda terrible. Sous vide really sounds like the way to go to hold it at tissue-melting level but not get hotter, but it's hard to justify one for just beef.
  4. Obviously McCaffrey is awesome, but it still surprises me that rebuilding teams extend their star RB instead of trading them away. By the time Carolina rebuilds and is good again, McCaffrey will either be burnt out or close to free agency again. With the career of a RB so short and fickle, I don't understand the value of trying to build a team around a RB when there's no other talent on the team to begin with. Send McCaffrey to the Lions for the #3 pick and both teams would be better off.
  5. No way Love makes it all the way to GB. Every time there's a down year for QBs they get predicted to drop, but every year they get picked early. Safe bet the Lions will trade down so somebody else can grab Tua (Miami), but I wouldn't be surprised if somebody got Washington's pick at #2 just to be sure nobody else jumps in and grabs him. Then I'm sure the Lions would be overjoyed to get that Ohio State DE.
  6. If this were basically any other year where the Bucks were garbage I wouldn't much care about the return of the NBA season. But now I can't wait and will blame Covid if they don't win the Finals. I'd still prefer a full-length playoffs even if it means many of the regular season games are cut. I can't imagine teams would need THAT much time to get back in the swing of things since we're not dealing with player and coaching changes like in a regular offseason. A shortened regular season would hurt those teams vying for a low playoff seed, but that's not a big deal.
  7. Do you do the whole "make clear ice" thing with it, too?

  9. John Krasinski's "Some Good News" Youtube channel is just terrific.
  10. It would be fun to have an in-game chat while a classic Brewers game were on the air.
  11. Now that I've moved into a minuscule kitchen I'm putting my cooking hobby on hold. But I realized that to scratch the itch I can learn how to make a good cocktail. Not whiskey cokes, but real cocktails. So far I've learned that an Old Fashioned actually isn't normally made with brandy. Just ordered a bunch of bitters. Next challenge is finding a good booze store because down here they're controlled by the government and most all of them stink.
  12. I'm just happy I worked out this morning. First day in a good while of trying to stick to a regular routine. I work rotating shifts and I'd always fallen out of it once I go on night shift. Slightly better hours with a new park helps, even though it means getting home from work and immediately going to bed. Also, hitting a heavy bag even for a little while is exhausting.
  13. I don't get the sense that the PSVR actually breaks that often. My comment was more just being frustrated.
  14. I don't know if it's really Constitutionally ok for the government to force a lawful business to close or to force people to stay in their homes. Obviously great if they do and selfish/irresponsible if the don't, but I'm not so sure government force is acceptable. I'd be cool with public shaming, though.
  15. Unemployment is up to 32% now. My state's park system has laid off all seasonal employees now. Still the prayer to be able to hire them all back as soon as safely possible, but laying them off instead of a furlough just makes it easier for them to apply for unemployment benefits. It's already known that China destroyed evidence and waited way too long to alert the world about this. But when this is all over, China isn't going to see the slightest negative reaction from the rest of the world for this. Zero. The rest of the world will go right back to sucking up to the Chinese government in order to get their money, along with the notion that to criticize the Chinese government somehow also means you dislike the actual people.
  16. Park visitation statewide (I'm not in WI) is up 3-400%. Lots of congregating. Bathrooms closed so folks are pooping in the woods. This week we're scattering all the picnic tables from under the shelters since folks are still congregating there. We haven't hit that point where most folks can say they know someone who has it. So until then I think a lot of folks are treating it like it's somebody else's problem, or "it's only for poor folks" as some Youtubers have put it. It's not personal yet.
  17. Funny enough my largest win was a tournament where I had no hands. $250 buy-in at the Golden Nugget. After the first hour I only ever had 4x the blind. I only played a hand once every 45-60 minutes and would manage to win enough to last me until the next hour. At the final table I just sat there hoping other folks would make a play and go out ahead of me. Made fifth place when I finally lost on what ironically was a good starting hand.
  18. You're right, I shouldn't have said last year. Oddly the article I got it from doesn't note any particular year. It noted an 80% success rate on curl and out patterns, which are staple Slot patterns. Also was 55 of 55 as a target when he was specifically playing from the slot. His 23 drops all came when he was lined up on the outside.

  20. The boss just randomly scheduled me for a couple vacation days next week. Me: "Wait, but that's not 40 hours for the week." Them: "You're the first person who's ever complained about being offered time off." I kinda don't really have the vacation days this year, but since I just moved I've still got a good bit of organizing and unpacking to do. Although I guess 'explore the town' is out of the question.

  22. The survival rates are based on known cases, obviously because you can't know who has it without a test. But certainly there are lots of folks who must have it, never went to a hospital and eventually recovered. Based on some best-estimates-from-smart-people numbers, the death rate from this would end up being a lot lower than the flu. Granted, it does seem the death rate from the elderly and already-sick is super high, as well as the rate that one corona person gives it to 2.5 people while the flu is 1.3.

  24. I have a PSVR that was working great in my old house. I move a couple hours away and the processor unit (the small box) stopped working (even though the PS4 in the same box was fine). The indicator light said it was overheating (had just plugged it in) and the fan wouldn't turn on. So I bought another processor unit off of ebay and it's the same exact thing. Wires are all correct and the originals. I'm at a loss and it's really bugging me. edit: When I enter the serial number of the ebay one it gives me an error. My original one goes through fine. Maybe the ebay one is some Chinese knockoff. double-edit: Playstation says $99 repair cost. ugh.
