  1. I'm in the middle of nowhere not WI. Been looking into ways to ditch my 3Mb internet. Only one satellite company offers service, a 10Mb speed which they also throttle once you reach a fairly low usage on. I thought MiFi would be the solution, but the Verizon guy told me it's also a very low data limit and there's no getting around it. My boss next door but on a different street can't even get DSL unless she gives them $5000 to run a wire there.
  2. I see this all the time. I feel like it must be a Southern thing because I never saw it in Wisconsin. It doesn't even make sense. Why stop that far behind the white line? It reminds me of Denver, where most all traffic lights were motion/weight sensitive and you had to move ahead of the white line for it to ever register. So drivers like that wouldn't even be able to get around town. And it's not even those first drivers, but at least by me, it's every vehicle. Guy in front stops 20' behind the white line; guy behind him leaves 20' of space, etc. I've seen 2.5 car-lengths of space before. Sometimes it can really cause issues when you've got block-to-block lights yet only four vehicles are taking up all the space. Or when there's a turn lane people could move into if only the vehicles ahead could just move up. And most frustrating is when you're that vehicle that wants to move into the turn lane, but the car ahead of you is blocking your entrance yet they have 20' of space in front of them. Will they be nice and move up to let you through? No, of course they won't.
  3. Just got a different phone. When I pick it up it recognizes finger-swipes just fine. When it's lying on the bed it doesn't recognize them at all. Sat on a table is fine, too. I haven't done more experimentation yet, but so far it's just the bed where it doesn't work. It's weird and really frustrating.
  4. I know there are food truck associations. Maybe contacting them can get you a list of different folks to contact. Funny this thread came up. I'm starting to research the possibility of buying a food truck or food cart to sell food on weekends I have off as a way of making some extra money.
  5. Name changes always reminds me of when this stuff first came up and there was an intermural basketball team somewhere in Utah, made up of all Indian players, who gave themselves the team name The Fightin' Whites.
  6. A good few new ones, thanks!
  7. It's a good move for New England in whatever ways you might think Newton's skillset would or wouldn't work on the team. I don't know who NE's #2 starter is, but I know Cam Newton is a better QB. Tom Brady is certainly the best 0-15 yard passer in the game, but I'm not sure if he's got the arm anymore to make deep throws, plus he's not mobile anymore at all. I don't know what the o/u on wins is for TB, but I'm figuring them for 9-7 at the very best and will be inclined to bet on the under.
  8. The D&D episodes of Community were pulled, though, which were some of the best episodes they did. I just finished watching The Cool Kids. I don't actually recommend watching it, but there's a dearth of sitcoms on tv and it managed to kill some time.
  9. Knicks have gotten permission to interview Jason Kidd for their head coaching job. Pretty obvious what they have in mind. And if I'm not mistaken last year they had the cap room for three max players and I don't believe they signed anyone of importance. So they would not only be able to court Giannis but also be able to ask "So who else could we sign to help convince you?"
  10. But I thought the new rule of a couple years ago said that there was no punishment for kneeling, but that they had to stay in the locker rooms to do it and couldn't come out. But I guess when you've got major politicians doing it, suddenly it's not really something which needs to be hidden anymore.
  11. Apparently I've been leaning forward when I walk for decades now. The internet says it's Thoracic Kyphosis, so I've been doing some stretches for it and adding in lower and middle traps to the workouts. That combined with the mindfulness of it, I do think I'm standing up and walking straighter now. I was probably leaning forward a good 8" and never really realized it. A couple months in and I'm still working out regularly. Really happy about that, since sticking with it is one of my two bigger weaknesses. The slightly better shift schedule with my new park has made all the difference.
  12. NBCSports has SNL skits up as their featured article on their website. Recently it was a non-athlete doing a cooking demonstration. Holy moly do we need sports back. It's just so frustrating that the Bucks have been SO bad for SO long. But now that they're the best team in the NBA, yeah, we're going to have to go ahead and shut it all down.
  13. Win or lose somebody somewhere will make some excuse. But ultimately it is what it is. And for whatever team wins, I'd only guess it won't quite feel as satisfying, but nothing you can do. But I do hope there's some kind of multi-game tournament to finish the season. I'd have no problem with extending the season a month or so if it came to it. I'm hoping for a normal-like playoffs even if that does mean cutting short the regular season. If the Bucks were a Herb Kohl "Hoping for the #8 seed" team I don't think I'd care about making or not making the playoffs. But at least the Top 4 teams in each league have earned something more than a crapshoot, if it comes to that.
  14. Did two eye of round roasts on the smoker yesterday. Those are easy to make tough and not juicy. But I brined these in salt water for a few hours beforehand. Pulled them at 130 and they're awesome. Today I'm gonna re-try smoking simple syrup. Last time I did it with stevia and it all separated again when frozen. So today I'll do regular sugar and see how it turns out. Smoked simple syrup should be awesome in whiskey cocktails. Edit: I went ahead and smoked regular cane sugar. Came out great. Not much melted. Ran it through a sieve and then bashed up the harder bits.
  15. Because the bacteria has time to break down the gluten, a lot of celiac people can eat sourdough. Also sourdough bread doesn't spike the blood sugar as much as regular bread does. Sourdough ties to urban homesteading, which ties to a lot of the hipster stuff that has taken off lately. Not saying that to knock it, as I like a lot of that sorta stuff. Used to use a lot of it for programs at my park, too. I've done classes on sourdough, shrub, kraut and kimchi. Fermenting meats proved too expensive. But making my own cocktail bitters may be next.
  16. Maybe if Love progresses, Rodgers gets increasingly frustrated hearing about his decline and Love's development that he becomes a lot more open to getting traded. And maybe Gute is ok with that. And Love would ideally minimize those 2-3 terrible years where a team stinks without a QB, which also tends to cost coaches jobs. I'm pretty ok with Funchess as the #2 and think he'll be good. And it's one last year to decide on St. Brown and MVS. So I don't really feel like WR is some big black hole of a position that we just don't have any players for. And MLF ran the ball twice as much in Jacksonville as MM did, so an opposite-style back to Jones makes sense. Williams is more QB protection than much of a runner.
  17. Love the Gay pick for the Chiefs. Must be nice to have a fast, athletic LB. Wonder what that's like.
  18. Maybe Love converts to WR and Dillon becomes a LB.
  19. So I guess they have to draft a safety next, since it's the next position least in need of more players.
  20. How is Dillon better than Williams?
  21. Now I'm rooting for Baun with Moms gone.
  22. I figure just BPA since any guys I particularly like to fill depth like Cleveland or Kmet will almost certainly be gone by the end of the 2nd. Although I'd love a LB with some good speed, since SF really exploited our inability to get outside and keep pace with faster RBs. If not a WR or OL, I wouldn't entirely hate a RB. Williams is a great pass blocker but he's not making any DCs nervous with his running.
  23. Dak Prescott's brother just died at 31 years old. Terrible.
