  1. The sky isn't going to fall in free agency. Maybe our next DC doesn't sniff glue and the defense is better overall. Gary will be better than Preston Smith. Lazard and MVS will be better. Are centers/guards so hard to find replacements for? Dillon and maybe a returning Williams will replace Jones just fine. It's not like this is the first time we've had a great team and lost good players.
  2. I didn't think Pettine was going to be around next year even before this game.
  3. We can't know what's in Rodgers' head one way or another good or bad. And we certainly can't base anything based on what he's said in front of a camera--he's smart enough and has been around long enough to know what he's supposed to say in public. So Rodgers is 1-4 in NFC CGs. Would he be 4-1 if not for coaching/coordinators? SF was clearly the better team last year, though Seattle I blame MM for more than Bostic.
  4. It would sure be something if Rodgers were more upset at things than he let on, this game was the last straw, and he pulled a Watson/Stafford.
  5. Rodgers and Deshaun Watson should become friends. They have a lot in common. Lotta wasted years.
  6. Same thing got the Jets DC fired for the one play.
  7. Single deep coverage on an obvious deep pass situation. You think subtracting seven points for TB would have made a difference in this game???
  8. I thought you were a police officer. I'm a commissioned Park Ranger, so both. All the usual duties/powers of a regular officer but my jurisdiction is in the Park. National Parks will separate duties for their Rangers where you'll have some who do nothing but LE and others who do nothing but education. But I'm with the State, who has us doing a little of everything. Cut a tree in the morning, teach kids about turtles in the afternoon, domestic violence arrest in the evening.
  9. If we were playing the Jets next week I'd worry about Darnold picking us apart and our ability to run the ball.
  10. Bleacher Report seems to say that Deshaun Watson is all but done in Houston. One person was saying a reasonable trade with the Jets would be three first-rounders. Makes me wonder what Miami really thinks of Tua.
  11. I definitely had Rodgers pegged for a slight age-related decline. Juuuuuust a bit outside.
  12. Is Lamar Jackson good enough to win a Super Bowl, or do you need a passing game to do that? Is a good, pass-catching TE enough to fix the issue?
  13. Absolutely he'd want it. And if you do, too, you'll be able to find it on Ebay the following week.
  14. I'm looking forward to Starlink, too. My boss can't get internet at all and I have a max 3mb speed on a shoddy line. They're saying it'll be 15-50mb speed and starting to roll out in North America around the end of this year. More expensive for the box and the service but not prohibitively so.
  15. Maybe the late flight will delay the game, since I have to work until about the 4th quarter. Football just doesn't work for me on the radio. I know a streaming site that will play the game on a delay with no spoilers, but it's spotty.
  16. Totally agree; keep it simple. They don't want to hear some long explanation from you about being their friend or anything like that because there's nothing you could say which would make them feel better. It's more rare, but don't let them ramble on and bargain, either.
  17. I'm sure Aaron Donald will have a gallon of cortisone in his body by gametime, probably feel nothing from his neck down, and probably be just as good as he always is.
  18. There's an ESPN 30-for-30 special on bankruptcy in pro sports which is absolutely worth watching. Not really any different than all those lottery winners who go broke shortly after. Mohammad Ali's first trainer would tell about how these young boxers would leave a meeting with a promoter with a deal for $2+million with all but a signature. Don King would swoop in immediately after to have his own meeting, where he would proceed to plop a bag of $1million in cash right on the table, and the boxers would sign it because it was immediate. I always admired that big hitter from the Phillies. Howard? Despite the pile of money he was making, his paychecks went directly to his mother, who then gave him an allowance. Smart lady.

    Pizza

I bet that pizza thinks it's WAY better than the other pizzas, too. But the recipe is unwritten... There's just a certain way pizza is supposed to be made. Anything else would be disrespectful to pizza. If my son is hungry, what am I supposed to tell him?
  20. Good memory. I love this place. I'm still a full-time Park Ranger, though. I started this job late enough that I need an extra bump in retirement. The pay:stress ratio of getting a promotion wasn't worth it, so thinking of an alternative second income led me to the idea of becoming a hot dog vendor in my spare time. >Not great for a family though. You mean my two cats? But you're right, though. I'm often envious of you guys.
  21. Bleacher Report did a long article on it all a few months back. Trubisky was understood, at least by the Bears, to not have the ceiling of Mahomes or Watson, but certainly a higher floor. And the Bears GM was more interested in the sure thing.
  22. I have to have a commissary (commercial kitchen) associated with my hot dog cart in order to operate. My ideal one is full, which also means my #1 vending location is out. Next-nearest commissary is two hours away one-way. They'll take me, but the health inspector doesn't like that I live far away. Not sure why that would matter since I can't store food at home or anything. Must now submit my minute-by-minute plans for their "probably not" approval. Likely will have to fight since her hesitations didn't have anything to do with actual ordinances. After that it looks like I'll be knocking on restaurant doors to see if they'll sell me time in their kitchen.
  23. The most-talented trio of players in NBA history, with all three pretty well guaranteed to hate each other by the end of the season. I have a hard time figuring how this doesn't end up blowing up spectacularly. Kyrie will hate the world as always when he's only the third-best player on the team. Harden will blame the bench players for every loss or maybe the cheerleaders for not cheering well enough. Harden and Kyrie will fight over who gets to take every single shot--I'm sure their shot selection will be pretty entertaining to watch. But I do feel kinda bad for Durant. Leaves the Warriors because he's told "You only won because of Curry" and now maybe he'll start hearing the same thing again. Dude is so unbelievably good yet somehow he's been turned into something of an also-ran his whole career.
  24. Any other coach but Nagy and what's the ceiling for the talent on Chicago? A first-round playoff loss?
  25. Alabama. Yawn. Really looking forward to next year, though. I wonder who will make the Playoffs?
