  1. I think adding Peavy would absolutely add to the bottom line. Just because ticket sales are good doesnt mean they wont get even better just like last summer. To me, it's all about how much talent we'd have to give up. I'd rather keep Escobar and Parra but realize that would be tough. Having Escobar for cheap and almost ready would be valuable if we take on Peavy's contract.
  2. I'd love Lopez, obviously depending on the compensation. Ideally I'd like a one year guy because it should not take as much to get him and I want 2nd free for Rickie next year.
  3. Anyone know if he runs well? His SB numbers are better than I thought they would be.
  4. I agree with most of what you said. The thing I'd disagree on is that I feel our only hope at getting that type of player is hitting big in the draft. Either by getting lucky and winning the lottery the right year when theres a Dwight Howard or Lebron James. Or by finding a gem. Roy was 6th overall, Rondo 21, Bynum 10, Granger 17, Iguidala 9, Al Jefferson 15, Josh Smith 17, David West 18, Josh Howard 30. Those guys aren't all stars but are realistic for the Bucks to acquire players like that by drafting better. I think it has to be done through the draft with value picks similar to these because like you said, you'd have to overpay so much to get guys to sign here. The other thing is about Redd being an All Star and Olympian. Both true, and I'd love to have Redd on a team that has a star where he's second or third fiddle. I think he'd be awesome on any number of teams, Cleveland, Denver, to name a few of the top of my head. I don't think he sucks I just don't think he'll ever be "the guy" on a good team.
  5. My whole thing is that his one really good year is the one that stands out. It's looking more and more like he's not the player we(or I) thought he could be after his great 07. He's just average, I don't think he's bad. But average isn't as exciting as thinking he can be a legit above average to great player. That guy from 07 is a cornerstone, everything else has been average and replaceable.
  6. Yeah, I'd take any of those listed players over Redd any day of the week. Redd can score, but he dominates the ball too much and does nothing to create for his teammates or make other people better. I'd take less ppg from one player if it means better ball flow and involving everyone else, not to mention Redd's lack of effort on the other side of the ball.
  7. Just to answer the original question. I'd guess Escobar still has higher value since he can be controlled longer and even though he is a prospect, it's pretty clear to everyone that at worst he'll be a stellar defensive player, if he hits he has crazy value.
  8. He's only had one really good year and the rest meh. 2006- .283/328/468/796 (ok year, but just 237 ABs) 2007- .295/353/539/892 (his one great year) 2008- .268/300/459/759 Other than 07, he's been just ok at best.
  9. I'd love to see it happen since we wouldn't have to give up any players to add a pitcher. Like most here, I just don't think its too likely that the two sides come together.
  10. That's why I'm nervous about him being a regular, even in half of a platoon. There's no way he keeps this up with a lot of ABs.
  11. Well that's a huge problem then. Crushing a meat pitch is instinct, if there is thought or hesitation he's obviously going to be late. He has been awful, I don't agree at all that the sample is unfair or plucking the bad to make it look worse. Use the entire year last year, even the good, even then he had a .300 OBP. That's disgusting. So far, he's been more bad than good overall and it's looking more and more like a one great year thing like with Hall.
  12. I'm getting that vibe that something may be up as well. It makes some sense timing wise too. We just got proof that SD wants to and is willing to move him, and that he would prefer to stay in the NL. We also have some idea what it might take to get him now. Mark A. strikes me as a guy that really enjoys when the Brewers are in the limelight and I could really see him stretching or exceeding his budget for a special type of player. I am somewhat scared to see what we'd be giving up considering it would be back to back years trading prospects for studs when we're getting closer and closer to needing those prospects.
  13. I'm worried, he's looked lost for a long time now. This is no longer a bad stretch.
  14. I'd trade Hart and Suppan for Cain and Wynn, I don't think the Giants would. I like Hart but he scares me.
  15. My thoughts exactly. I HATE Hart leading off. I'd love for Gerut to get a few starts for Cam and Hart and leadoff, my main concern is that Counsell is our only leadoff option and can't do it everyday, nice to have another option.
  16. Switch Braun and Fielder and I'd love that lineup. Also, % of fastballs seen means nothing. There is a huge difference in a nibbling, pitching around fastball because I'm going to be careful with this guy because I know Kendall and the pitcher won't hurt me as compared to a go after someone fastball because I'm not putting a runner on for Braun. There is a difference, even though they both show up as FB.
  17. Those two sentences are total contradictions. We shouldn't get too excited over a few ABs, but then again if he hits lefties (in a few ABs) lets play him more. I'm all for Gamel playing full time at third but they won't do that, so I'd settle for a strict platoon. Bill Hall can't hit righties, Mat Gamel can. Not sure why after years of Hall proving this we're deciding to "let him prove" he can if we have an option wasting on the bench that clearly can hit them. I'm not going to be happy if they continue to trot Hall our their vs righties while our top prospect, who plays his position and hits righties, chews seeds on the bench. I agree with the original poster, it's painfully obvious he needs to go the other way with outside pitches and lay off junk. It's harder to lay off the junk when you're committing to pull it. Some of his ABs are just embarrassing.
  18. If we know what the package is this is the time to throw our hat in the ring and see how bad he wants to stay in the NL. I just heard on ESPN that Beckham is NOT a part of the package.
  19. My only concern is Counsell playing a lot. I want him to stay in a super sub role and stay fresh and not be the primary starter at any position all year.
  20. I'd love Lopez, I think we need more of a full time starter and leadoff man from 2B. I might be the only one here, but I hate the idea of Hart leading off.
  21. The last time Catalanatto played anything but 1B/OF/DH was 2002, the only thing he'll bring is a bench bat. I really want to know what the plan is with Gamel. I'm getting the vibe that they don't want to move Hall to 2nd, and want him to be more than the righty half in a platoon. I'm attached to the idea of Gamel being up for good, but really not sure what their plan is.
  22. Get Cat in where? I thought he was just OF/1B
  23. This is unvelievable how worked up people get over him. It's a childs game, enjoy it. Everyone gets pissed when the opposing team hits a jack in a crucial moment or makes a huge catch, but you know what, you're pissed because it really screwed your team. ANY of these fans complaining about Braun would be high fiving up a storm if it was Soriano, Pujols, etc. Sidenote to that Cubs fan. Do we have proof of a Dunn diving catch? Not buyin it, especially one like Braun's last night. Cubs fans are overboard about how bad Braun is in the field because it makes them feel better about not having a hitter like him.
