  1. Can someone explain what the glove trick is?
  2. Interesting way to look at it, makes sense. I'm all in on Gamel being up for good now, I think he's our best shot to make up for the offense we will lose. I'm fine with Hall being half of a 2B platoon but I'm not sure Counsell can get that many ABs in the other half of the platoon. As for leadoff, why is Hart always assumed to be a better option than Cameron? Cameron's obp is about 60 points higher this year and about 15 higher for career. Not thrilled about Hart leading off at all. Career obp is .324
  3. Anyone see them taking advantage of Hall's good start and getting something in return for him? Go with Gamel and have Counsell as insurance with McGehee getting a handful of starts vs tough lefties..?
  4. I hope he's playing daily against righties. As excited as I am to see him in Milwaukee I really don't want him to sit on the bench right now. Either a trade is going down or someone is hurt, who would be suspended?
  5. Soriano is a bad baseball player who just happens to be able to hit.
  6. Whoa, Hart is cheap for someone you're calling a potential valuable bench player?
  7. I'd have to disagree, I go to difference places and don't see the same people all the time. Oh well
  8. Now they're ripping Rock. Were Brewer fans this bad of sore losers? Cardinals, Pirates, Cubs, seems like every teams fans are babies about SOMETHING relating to the Brewers. Ironically those things come out when we're abusing them on the field, weird. Another common theme seems to be them hating Braun, wonder how many of them would be wearing his jersey if he was hitting bombs for their team?
  9. Counsell has been insane. He has to play until he cools off, I don't care where, rotate around the IF. He's solid defensively at all 3 spots and is hitting better than all 3 guys. Not saying it will continue all year, but as long as he's seeing the ball like this and getting on base at this ridiculous rate I think he has to play. Just to put it in perspective, the only 2 Brewers with a higher ops are Braun and Cameron(barely, 946 to Counsell's 943). Granted, Counsell's numbers are on half the ABs but still, I say ride this while it lasts.
  10. I live right down the street from Nite Owl but have never tried it, maybe after the game. Is it a sit down restaurant or bar/grill type place? Can you get stuff to go? I never realized it's not standard to put ketchup on a bacon burger...
  11. I'm guessing this is to separate Counsell and Duffy in the lineup. Let's go yoga, nice start
  12. Yeah, the difference is the AAA 3B is playing the infield daily. You can say with a straight face that Mike Rivera is better suited to play first base than Mat Gamel? If were deciding that our extra batter for interleague play is going to be Gamel then the defense is better with Gamel at first and Prince DHing. It's not a hard transition for a 3B, I don't get why people think it would be so tough for him.
  13. I'd actually guess 5'10 if not shorter too.
  14. There would be no problem at all playing Gamel at 3rd, so what if it's his first time, its first base. He plays 3rd base everyday, he can clearly field groundballs, pretty sure he can catch. It's not like Fielder is a wall for bad throws anyways, the second Gamel trots over to first he'd be a better first baseman (defensive obviously). The only downfall I could see is a slight one and it was mentioned earlier, that playing 1st he's not getting better at 3rd. I don't think that's a big deal at all though.
  15. I could be wrong here, but I don't think his glove should matter for advancing through the minors. I could care less if he's working on his defense in low A or AAA, I feel like it's more important that he's facing the appropriate pitching, the defense can be worked on anywhere. The only time I see defense matter for advancing purposes is when making the leap to the show. Also, I don't know if this is the place for this and I'm sorry if it's not. But I'm curious if anyone more knowledgeable about our prospects than I am wants to take a stab at some projections. I'm mostly curious about Lawrie, Gamel, Cain, Escobar and Salome and how they project or compare to other players in terms of power(any of them 30 or 40 HR guys), speed, avg., etc. I didn't wanna make a new thread for this so hopefully this is ok.
  16. It blows my mind that people are still worked up over this.
  17. I loved BA's quote after that dong. "...It's what he does."
  18. It has nothing to do with bat speed, Hall has always been able to crush MISTAKES IN. Pitchers aren't going to keep giving him anything in if he doesn't effectively handle the soft stuff outside. Hall is playing great right now, and I love it and hope it continues. I don't dislike Hall, I'm critical of him because I think he is talented enough to fix the hole in his swing and approach that would make him better.
  19. They have both always been extremely streaky hitters. One is really hot right now and one is really cold, it just looks bad being this cold to start the season because the numbers get ugly.
  20. As Ennder said, if the back is sore then it can cause him to try and overcompensate for a lack of quickness by starting his bat earlier. It also makes it a lot harder to check or stop swinging once you commit at all.
  21. Pedro, coolest guy ever? Too bad I missed this, thanks for the offer
  22. Yeah, I didn't even know how to react when they said they can't take him seriously when he gets in the box. The sad thing is, both sites I looked at had similar stuff. Pirates fans, at least the ones represented on those two sites, have a serious hatred for the Brewers. Comments ranging from how much they hate this team, how fat Prince is, a lot of unkind words said about Braun, even that the fans in the stands are ugly, and one genius talking about how terrible BA and Rock were. I saw one guy complaining about how Rock was saying they clearly threw at Braun. They did. And their fans are even calling it payback for last year, so what's the problem with Rock pointing out the obvious if they agree there was intent? Then again, I don't know if there is that much intelligent discussion going on over there anyways considering there was a thread concerning rain and a potential rainout in Milwaukee..... Before reading that site I kinda felt bad for Pirates fans, not anymore, owning them is even sweeter now.
  23. He needs more AB's but they might as well be in this role. I don't see where he'd be an everyday player, so given that, his age, and lack of options we might as well give him more of a chance to grow into this role. It takes time.
  24. Found some interesting stuff on a Pirates board. They seem to think the they threw at Braun because of the homerun last year. Their game thread from last night is even titled "The Braun Payback Game..." Kinda pathetic I think, I guess when you are an irrelevant team you need to grasp for straws for something to get fired up about. That was a huge homerun at a huge time, celebrate it up Braun. Step your game up Pitts if you have a problem with it. Seeing their site made me appreciate this site, they have some pretty classless and pathetic threads and comments. Check out these gems: http://www.thebuccosforum...2/YaBB.pl?num=1240958386 http://www.thebuccosforum...2/YaBB.pl?num=1240880936 Here's that game thread: http://www.thebuccosforum...2/YaBB.pl?num=1240875368 Classy guys over there. Braun's right, he did nothing wrong on that homer, and if they threw at him over that huge homerun in a playoff race, they are pathetic.
  25. Put me down also for drinking Miller products. Usually Lite or High Life in the lot for me.
