  1. Yea, I know he can't turn down the sensitivity training, just wish he did because it's stupid. Yes, our company has training every year too, and I learn nothing, and nothing is reinforced. I've been around plenty long enough to know what not to say or do in the workplace. I'm sure some could use it, so I don't really care we have it every year.
  2. He should refuse to go through sensitivity training if he honestly doesn't have those beliefs anymore, or never had them. And I've been as hard on him as anyone, but how can you be trained to be sensitive if you already are?
  3. And now his Twitter is deleted. It was in slang fashion and not on the level of Hader's, but just more reason they need to be doing a scrub of everyone in the organization (including minors). I would rather shine a bright light on any hint of racism, instead of deleting it. But I know I'm in the "minority."
  4. And it begins. The witch hunt is now underway. Good. Call it a witch hunt if you wish, but these are public people. If you've said homophobic or racist statements in the past nothing wrong with having to answer for it.
  5. Exactly. As someone with 13,000+ posts on Brewerfan alone and thousands upon thousands of posts on other boards, tweets, Facebook and Myspace posts, I couldn't even begin to guess whether or not I have something out there that could be perceived as offensive. The idea that Hader just knew it was out there ready to ruin his life and didn't bother with it is so ridiculous. A 'tweet' is a very quick and in the moment post and particularly by a teenager likely won't be remembered the next week much less 7 years later. Yea, I get that. But Adam, you mean to tell me you wouldn't remember typing "kkk" and "I hate gays" among other things? He was 17, but people seemed to be WAY more focused on that vs some of the things he said. Young and stupid, so he shouldn't be held accountable at all. (Not saying YOU have said that but others have.) For all of you saying you're glad Twitter wasn't around when you were 17, I agree! But most of that (I hope) would have been stupid (not hateful) things about women, getting drunk, whatever. I doubt many of us would have been tweeting kkk, at least I want to believe that. When you go that far, it's more than just being 17 and stupid. And it's also not automatic that he grew out of it, not everyone grows out of it.
  6. Please no fake community service! If Hader wasn't performing any type of community service for certain organizations before, don't start now. That will come off as fake whether it is or not. And no canned press conference. If, however, I was his agent I would suggest he do a press conference from the heart. Walk through what he tweeted and be honest about it. If he really didn't like blacks and gays at the time, say so and explain how you have changed. Or maybe he never did hate, and was just saying things to get a rise out of people. Whatever the case, just walk through it, you are truly sorry and this is the person I am today. That's all he can do. Then all I can do is hope what he said is true. But all that really matters is what's in his heart, and we'll never know that.
  7. Absolutely, and that's my point. Jeffress/Cain don't have any obligation to make the comments they are making and defend Hader. Look at some of the comments from Vick, Mccoy, other black players on the Eagles in regards to Cooper. They didn't brush it aside for the good of the team. Cain/Jeffress are defending Hader, and that speaks volumes for me. To be fair, it also doesn't prove anything that Cain/Jeffress say he's a good person. He probably is, I hope he is. But if still DOES feel this way about various group, pretty sure he wouldn't be sharing it with them right?
  8. No, it's not all about destroying people. It's about a person saying some really hateful things and being held accountable for it. It's not a witch hunt, he said these things. And throughout his professional career as an adult knew that stuff was out there and wasn't bothered by it enough to get rid of it. I agree there's a difference between saying it when you're 17 vs 23. But from many of the posts I've seen, it sounds like people dismiss it completely because he was 17. I don't. As I said earlier, all we can do is hope he really has changed- for his own sake.
  9. As numerous stories about high school and college teams screaming rap lyrics have shown us, no, not really. You can't put context to these kinds of stories, the Twitter pitchforks will toss it aside promptly. I don't have Twitter, so not 100% sure how to read all of Hader's tweets. But I'm pretty sure he typed kkk in one of his tweets. I hate ___ in another. Those aren't rap lyrics, those are very hateful and troubling comments coming directly from him. That's the context.
  10. Not necessarily. This just broke last night. Whenever something like this comes up people come forward because the ice is broken and they're more comfortable speaking out. Not saying there's any evidence of more to come, just saying this is all way to new to rule it out.
  11. Throwing it out there in the middle of the ASG was wrong. If the Brewers didn't go back to see all his old social media stuff, that was bad. If they did and kept it under wraps, that's even worse. Hader was stupid for not deleting, shutting down (whatever you do with Twitter.) And yes, I'll even grant you there's a difference between things said when you're 17 vs 23...30...70. All of that is true, and I agree. Just seems like what he actually said is being glossed over a bit. "Yea, he said some stuff when he was young. We were all stupid when we were young." Again, maybe so. But go back and read it as uncomfortable as that may be. kkk? I hate ____? And all the other stuff. I mean, it's really awful. He can apologize to everyone, and I hope it's sincere. For his sake, I really hope he has grown and doesn't have that hatred in his heart. We don't know, and will never know. Finally, I said this earlier, but if anything at all comes out that has happened more recently he is done. A comment he made to a teammate two years ago, a snapchat someone saved from last year...literally anything at all will completely change the dynamic. I'm not hoping that doesn't come out, I'm hoping it doesn't exist because he has grown.
  12. Do we know they weren't aware of the tweets?
  13. Well, someone had to do it. This story isn't going away any time soon, so as uncomfortable as it may be I think this needs it's own thread. (Is currently being discussed in two or three different threads.) Please keep the discussion civil, I know the Mods will be watching carefully. What will the Brewers/ MLB do? What do you think they should do? One thing I'll throw out there, no matter what happens in the coming days, if anything at all comes out that he's said, tweeted, snap chatted, etc. in the last 2-3 years that 's the end of Josh Hader as a Brewer, maybe as a MLB player period. So let's hope, at the very least, he's grown as a person and there's nothing else hanging out there.
  14. You really cant make your point without that juvenile last sentence? And you proved the point of why trading major assets for Machado is a bad idea. You get a top tier player when you already have a great team. That was true in both those cases. You don't do it to make a marginal playoff team into a better marginal playoff team.
  15. JJ got lit up too, it's just that the HR he gave up just happened to be hit into a strong wind blowing in from CF at the time so it's a fly out.
  16. Most of your post seems to support holding on to Burnes. As you played out, it's not easy finding TOR arms. So probably not a bad idea to hold on to the ones who could be?
  17. No, there's not pressure to make the playoffs. They ramped up payroll this year because they could. They have tried to improve the roster without giving away too much of the future, and then the cards fall where they may. More moves will be made, but again, they're not going to trade away top prospects because the pressure I so great to make the playoffs. Fans are fans, some may complain but they'll keep coming to games.
  18. 1. Vikings 2. Vikings 3. Vikings 4. Patriots 5. Cowboys 6. Bears
  19. You may be right, I guess I just picture the whole process to be more straightforward. One of many things it would be fascinating to see behind the curtain of a GM's office. Just from the bits and pieces I've read over the years, it sounds more like "these are the guys I want." Other team counters, and so on. But again, you may be right, and I guess it's likely some front offices play games more than others.
  20. How do we know they didn't? They may have put a strong offer out there from the beginning. I mean, we can't take much from what has/ has not been reported.
  21. I don't know why the Orioles would need to release updates? All they have to do is say "David, this is what the Dodgers are offering, can you beat that?" There's really no purpose for them to be so cryptic about it.
  22. I always forget which factors in more in the WAR formula- spark plug or gritty veteran?
