  1. Dodgers can offer more because it would put them in the driver's seat to sign him long term after this season, pretty simple.
  2. Not me, because that would mean they gave up too much.
  3. The Dodgers may very well get him, but these types of comments are such a joke. I'm sure scouts were looking at Phillies, Brewers, and probably several other teams in "recent days." For those of you who go to TRats games this time of year, the stands behind home plate are filled with scouts every year.
  4. Great point that may get lost in the shuffle here. If the Os were smart, they would go for quantity. Just off the top of my head, but Brown, Gatewood, Supak, Henry, Lara. Off the top of my head, but something like that. Not one big sexy name but like 5 guys who are solid with some upside. They wouldn't do it, I know, but they need a big infusion of talent.
  5. That has been the path of each world series over the past couple years, ie., rentals. Ask the Cubs. Without Chapman, they dont go to the series. Cubs farm system isnt as great now but they got a ring. Unless we get a controllable player before the august 30 deadline like the American league has done the last few years (verlander, or miller, but that Miller cost #1 prospect as well in frazier). It is simply too late in august for us to have had a chance, we had to give up CB otherwise half our team is on DL with no equalizer to fill the glaring gap. Thames and Villar dl forced this deal. Are you saying you know Burnes is in the deal? He doesnt know anything, are you really falling for this again?
  6. Well, that opening bit was awkward and cringeworthy.
  7. You believe that rotation is about as good as they are ever going to be? I'll take my chances with Hader, Burnes, Peralta, and Woodruff. Then Ortiz, Brown, and Medeiros on the way. If they still need a Chacin type to sprinkle in at some point, that's fine. I agree there's no mythical 4-5 year window. If they stick to a true rebuild they could have a 10-12 year window, who knows.
  8. You highly doubt it? Ok, I don't. Either way I don't care, because my post was about what I want them to do, not a prediction of what they will do. I can compare the NBA to MLB in context, which I did. The Brewers have been acting like the Bucks, and I'll stand by that.
  9. I read that, and the only thing I thought was "perennially rebuilding". They haven't been perennially rebuilding, that's the problem. They "went for it" several years at the end of Melvin's regime. They sort of went for it last year. But they certainly have not had a long stretch of rebuilding. I don't consider a rotation of Guerra, Anderson, and Chacin to be rebuilding. If/when they have Hader, Burnes, Peralta, and possible Woodruff in the rotation, it's just the Bucks model of trying to be a decent team and hope to get lucky. Who knows, sometimes things come together more quickly than planned. Maybe that young rotation is really good right away. If they are, then I have no problem adding a bat at this time next year. I'm patient. We've waited 50 years, so I don't really care if it take another two years to do this right.
  10. Not that it matters, but I said it at the time. (Not sure if I said it in this forum or not.) Injuries aside, I saw Parker for what he was/is. A guy who can easily put up 20+ a game but not provide any defense. Now, that's still a skill, so I didn't just dismiss that. But I looked at it as the Bucks were a young tea, and hard to pass on an uber-talented big man.
  11. What do I expect? No idea. But here's what I would LIKE to see: Nottingham get about 70% of the ABs at Catcher. Get Arcia back at SS full time in the near future. Platoon Santana/ Phillips roughly 50/50 in RF. DL Braun for the season. Try Tyrone Taylor out in September. Give Hader, Peralta, and Burnes enough innings so they're ready to start full time next season. Kick the tires on more relievers like Ramirez, QTC, Olzak, Griep, Perrin, Ponce, etc, Trade guys like Thames, Pina, Perez, Villar, Miller, Saladino, Chacin, Anderson, Guerra if you can get fair value back for them.
  12. I can't ever see that happening while Perez is still on the 25 man roster and Counsell is managing. Brewers have Cain, Yelich, Broxton, Santana, Phillips all healthy and on the 40 man roster and Perez is still getting outfield starts. Perez was getting outfield starts back when Braun was healthy. I think just about everybody thought that with the big outfield logjam that Perez (and Thames) wouldn't be seeing any time in the outfield this year, and yet Perez has started in the outfield a bunch of times. We just have to accept the following as Brewer fans: Craig Counsell just doesn't see Perez's career .255/.283/.388/.671 bat as being any type of significant negative. As long as Perez is on the 25 man roster, and Craig Counsell is managing the ballclub, Perez is probably going to get ~80 starts a year and a bunch of those are going to come at a corner outfield spot. Not sure that's fair. Whenever Braun was healthy he was in the OF, not Perez. Before they gave up on Santana, he was in RF. Even Thames played OF over Perez until he hit the DL. There wasn't much choice lately, that's why Perez was out there.
  13. Yea, I don't get that. Is anyone expecting Sophia, Dario, or Auggie to ask tough questions? That should be the job of the local media. If you're upset about softball questions, aim your frustration at the Journal/Sentinel, local TV stations, anyone else who is a beat reporter following the Brewers.
  14. Couldn’t have said it better. These guys are about making money and to do so they are putting together a team just good enough to make people think they can be contenders. Sorry, but that's ridiculous. These guys are billionaires and could invest in anything else if it was just about money. They bought the Bucks to win a title. Highly competitive guys that want a ring to show off. That's why, as with Mark A, they get impatient at times and make moves to win now. Thanks to these Owners, a part of Milwaukee is being revitalized. Never would have happened otherwise. Yay billionaires! Taxpayers hardly got fleeced. Without the Bucks, that's a lot of state income tax that goes bye bye.
  15. I doubt it, maybe the Reds nasty boys? Too tired to look it up.
  16. Thankfully you are cancelled out by PriceFielderxxx. Brewers are 98-3 in games he has attended.
  17. I believe there is an economic impact, but it's impossible to prove the amount. So I don't bother using that as an argument. It's just something I want. I don't care about art museums, libraries, or parks but acknowledge Milwaukee is a better place having them. Yes, Owners should pay for stadiums. But, like with the Bucks arena there is competition for these teams, so these days it's usually a combination. But a referendum? Yea, there would be no Miller Park or Milwaukee Brewers if there had been a referendum.
  18. So you would have been fine with the Brewers leaving Milwaukee? How does "the people who would be forced to foot the bill having a say in the matter" equal "oh so you want the Brewers to skip town??" Because the referendum would have been a "no" for Miller Park, and I think you would agree Mark A wouldn't have stayed at County Stadium long term.
  19. There should be a referendum though where citizens actually get to vote on whether they want to pay the hundreds of millions, and that goes for any pro sports facilities. So you would have been fine with the Brewers leaving Milwaukee?
  20. My apologies, I shouldn't have even said anything. We're giving him what he wants- attention. *Locking myself from this thread*
  21. Jon Heyman? No. Heyman just loosely walked through why Stearns would be an interesting name for the job, and pointed out why the chances of it happening are slim to none. Ford is the one who used that to form a click bait headline "Stearns Is a candidate for Mets GM"
  22. I would trade Brad Ford for a journalist.
  23. Well you guys wanted more baseless rumors. Now Stearns may be going to the Mets.
