  1. Exactly how I feel. I don't wish I'll will on him, and yea there's a chance he could have a big year in 2018 or even 2020. But if he retired today it wouldn't be a bummer for me.
  2. And we're off. 1-0. What I noticed is they looked almost exactly the same as they did last year down the stretch. And I say that as a positive. I know, makes sense, all the same players. My point is nobody looked better, but I think keeping the roster together will pay dividends. Eventually Wilson may find a role, taking Mirzas minutes and some from Moose. Would love for Brown to eventually take Snells job. But now Kidd should know exactly how/when the other pieces should be used. Sometimes less is more, in this case less change.
  3. Correct. Do not confuse this thread with the "optimism" thread. Despite the name of this thread, OP has no positive feelings. Brewers are bad, they sell too many tickets to fans who don't go to games, or they lie. Or something.
  4. Teams practice so much less now due to new rules, so it makes it more difficult to get timing down on screen plays. Those really take a lot of reps in practice to master.
  5. Random thoughts about this. Would Portland work? NBA and MLS work in Portland because it's a very young city. Just not sure the city would really embrace MLB, I don't know, just doesn't seem like a baseball city. Why not Indy? Whenever expansion comes up, or teams moving, seems Indy never comes up. History of AAA ball there, and I could see the whole state backing them- similar to the Brewers and Twins. Maybe they even market hard in Louisville and develop a fan base coming up from there. As far as divisions go, for selfish reasons I would like to see the Brewers in a "small market division" with any of Minn, KC, Pitt, Cincy, etc.
  6. 1) Freddy Peralta 2) Corbin Burnes 3) Brett Phillips 4) Lewis Brinson 5) Brandon Woodruff 6) Keston Hiura 7) Tristen Lutz 8) Monte Harrison 9) Luis Ortiz 10) Lucas Erceg 11) Jordan Yamamoto 12) Jake Gatewood 13) Isan Diaz 14) Phil Bickford 15) Trent Clark 16) Taylor Williams 17) Mauricio Dubon 18) Troy Stokes Jr 19) Corey Ray 20) Nate Griep 21) Adrian Houser 22) Carlos Herrera 23) Aaron Wilkerson 24) KJ Harrison 25) Mario Feliciano
  7. I'll go counter to conventional wisdom. Lean more on an effective running game?? Absolutely. But I think you do that even with a healthy Rodgers. Beyond that, I think they will need to take more shots deep down field. I know, I know, that had been the knock on Hundley. But do we really know he can't throw a deep ball after being in camp for 3 years? That just seems like a skill that can be developed, since he has the arm strength. I just see teams crowding the line and making Hundley beat you. They will expect a lot of screens, a lot of short passes to the TEs, etc. Deep balls were a wasted down in a way with a Rodgers-led offense. But with Hundley, he is simply not going to be able to surgically pick a defense apart with long driver after long drive. I think they'll need to take more big shots, and maybe you get long TDs or some PI calls. If not, at least you have loosened up the defense and shown you'll go deep. With all that said, yea, it really won't matter if the team as a whole doesn't get healthier and play better.
  8. Eastern Conference Champions. Giannis will dedicate this season to his father, and reach his almost unlimited ceiling. Kidd now knows how and when to use the other pieces around him. Jabari comes back at the end of the year to provide scoring off the bench, that extra punch they need in the playoffs. This prediction involves injuries and/or turmoil going on in Cleveland, but the Bucks have played them well anyhow. Season ends losing to Warriors in 5.
  9. Its like you didn't even read my post. You sent there's virtually no soccer fields in inner cities? If there was enough interest, there would be fields. Every sport scams money out of suvuburanites, don't even get me started. But basketball has aau traveling teams and the best players in the country play aau ball regardless of where they're from. Soccer, while more popular, is still a niche sport with limited interest in the US. Money isn't going to change that.
  10. I don't get into the draft, other than spending a lot of time on draft day and days after reading the forums here to learn more about players we drafted. I mention that because my opinion has nothing to do with whether he should have been our pick or not. No, I look at results at what scouts have to say since he picked up a bat professionally. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't see him panning out. He's on the smaller side, not a ton of power, doesn't walk, and strikes out a lot. That will take a whole lot of improvement to become a good MLB player. Since power will never be his main tool, his hit tool will really need to be what he hangs his hat on, and he's shown little evidence he can.
  11. Rare topic where I think both sides are right. Need for expanded netting overblown? Yes. Will it have a dramatic effect on fan experience? No. I just can't get worked up either way on this one.
  12. Not sure it's about money, or at least mostly about money. I think space available in the inner cities is a bigger driver. Basketball courts are small. Soccer fields are large- and need to be maintained. Same thing happened to baseball fields in most parts of the country.
  13. Richard Jefferson, that would be a good guy coming off the bench.
  14. Actually the number I see most frequently cited is 1,750 per year. That doesn't mean 1,750 wound up in the hospital. Many probahly just sought first aid at the stadium for a bruise or bump. And an MLB ticket purchase generally comes with an assumption of risk on it which disclaims liability for the team. I mean, you can still try to sue, I'm sure people have, but you have virtually no chance of winning. Not that simple. There would be very few lawsuits won by any consumer if a company just basically slaps a warning label on something. Have the Brewers taken reasonable steps to avoid injuries? Could easily be argued no, and cite examples of other stadiums that have extended the netting. And if someone is badly injured, any jury will try to find any way to pay a big settlement. Not saying I agree with all that or not, just a reality.
  15. Rich, with all due respect, have you considered you may just be wrong with your attendance estimates? Just because it "seems to you" there's only 20,000 fans doesn't make it so. Think about it. With 30,000 fans, you are looking at 10,000 empty seats. That's a lot. 25% will give you huge areas of the terrace empty. Plus, there's lots of suites, clubs, standing areas, etc where fans are gathered. Just saying, wouldn't hurt to admit just maybe you're wrong?
  16. Wash in hot water then go through a dryer. It if it makes clothes smaller it might work on people too. I was going to say don't book a room with two double beds. But your way works too!
  17. Setting the record straight. 1) No way are the beers from craft bar 24 oz. Guessing 16? 2) Johnsonville, Klements, whatever. Brats are over-rated.
  18. If only they had an AJ Bombers Variety is horrible. Also, scavenger hunt every time I wanted Secret Stadium Sauce. (Would give up all their new concessions for the old hot dogs soaking in SSS like they had at County Stadium.) Yes, it's expensive, but that doesn't bother me as that's a given. If I'm hungry enough I will buy something, usually just a hot dog. Glad they won an award I guess, but I just don't see it.
  19. Trading for a guy to keep your rival from getting him seems like a pretty sound strategy. Hold on. On second thought, no, not so much.
  20. Honestly, I would be fine if he hit 6th in the line-up, played 125 games and hit .825. When you consider where he is and you need 3 more years our of him, at least that's some value. Worth $20MM a year? No. But at least it wouldn't be dead money. Problem for me is keeping LF blocked for another 3 years. That's a long, long time. Just when someone gets rolling, sorry Braun is healthy enough to play again. Its going to cause a lof of shuffling around constantly. It also defeats one of top wishes for the next really good Brewers team. Entire OF of fast, athletic, great defensive players.
  21. I think that's the whole point of the question. You don't know if wc games are one and done. I would take the division title. Probably a better team, better chance at winning it all.
  22. It's like saying JJ Watt isn't athletic because he doesn't play QB.
  23. Found this interesting. 51 starts last season by the likes of Garza, Peralta, Guerra, Milone, Espino, Blazek, Jeffress. Almost 1/3 of games started by bad SP. Granted, Garza had some good starts in there. Also, I understand every team, every year will have starts by bad pitchers. But 51 games is a ton. Even with Nelson missing a chunk (or all)of 2018 this is definitely an opportunity to improve by minimizing the number of starts from guys like this. This would be similar to ABs from 2016/2017. I outlined in the past the huge number of ABs in 2016 by bad players like Walsh, FLores. Pressley, Elmore, etc. So in 2017 they eliminated most of that and improved run total from 671- 732. They still need to improve at the plate, but just by eliminating the worst of the worst there was improvement. Hopefully the same thing will happen with starting pitching. Just substituting horrible pitchers with average pitchers should help.
  24. Game #162 was my favorite. Showed me a lot about the players and CC. To get your heart ripped out the day before, get kicked out of the playoffs in the process, and rebound to win the next day? Outstanding.
