  1. Yea, if it makes you feel better there's a large minority in your camp. We're just a little quieter than the "make some moves" crowd. It's boring to stay the course.
  2. Does Ozuna know those blinged-out cleats he wears won't be allowed under Sect. 4© xxvi of the Cardinals Official Baseball Etiquette Rulebook?
  3. I love that they haven't signed anyone or traded top prospects for 2 year rentals. If anything, I wish they would have traded any combination of Knebel, Braun, Santana, Broxton, Shaw, Thames, Pina by now. But still early, so one can hope.
  4. Trade Knebel for a king's ransom. Keep Hader in BP for another year, possibly in closer's role. Williams, Jeffress, maybe Barnes can work late innings too. Stearns can find an Axford/Turnbow type in an Indy league somewhere. Pick-up a few cheap guys, shake it up, and get lucky one one. Oh, by the way, some of you take the whole "I liked playing in Milwaukee" thing WAY too seriously.
  5. I was (and still am) hoping for the exact opposite. If this is what Swarzy and Shaw are getting, would love to see what Stearns could get back in a Knebel trade.
  6. Stage of a the rebuild? They were one game out of playoffs. The farm system is well stocked. The focus has changed from rebuild to how do they get over the finish line while the two main adversaries are still in a bit of a transition and guys like Shaw, Thames and Braun still are productive. I realize that's YOUR focus, but I don't share that view. The Dodgers didn't win the WS last year. Do you know how far away the Brewers are from the Dodgers? They will likely never be the best team on paper, but they have to be a lot closer than they are now to be a legit contender. They are not a player or two away. So you add a big rotation arm. All that does is bring them back to even with the loss of Nelson. And we have no idea if Anderson can repeat the season he had last year. Not to mention others that could regress. 2017 season was fool's gold. Fun season, surprising season. But I don't believe for a minute adding Archer or Cole and a couple BP arms would make this team a real contender. Sorry, just don't see it.
  7. I don't see this as a reminder that not having DH in the NL is stupid. For me, it's more of a reminder that it's ridiculous international players are not drafted.
  8. I don't like any part of giving up top prospects for a two year player at this point in the rebuild. As someone pointed out in another topic, just because we have assets to trade and seemingly a glut of OFs, doesn't mean you have to move them today. The only way I would do something like this is include Braun, since that would have value to the Brewers (shedding his salary down the road.) Obviously the Pirates don't fit in a deal like that. I would do the Cole deal if he had 4 years left, or if we did a deal like this a couple years down the road.
  9. Breakout: Erceg Bounce Back: Tyrone Taylor/ Houser Sleeper: Herrara Bust: Ortiz/ Hiura. Ok, bust too strong of a word, but only option. I don't predict they will be busts, just predicting they won't have great years.
  10. Not being on the Brewers medical staff, I have no clue what their plan is for Williams. So I won't get into any "they should do this/that." That said, I hope he can be a big part of the pen this season. The door isn't closed on him being in the rotation at some point down the road either. But one step at a time.
  11. I like reading Longenhagen's stuff, but he's not perfect. My notes from watching him pitch are 90-93 consistently on FB. Of course, guns vary. I also thought he had a plus change, and I've read that elsewhere. Surprised that was really down-played. I don't believe you have k rate like that in AA with an 89 FB and "good" secondary pitches.
  12. With all due respect, bringing up Scooter and Khrush Davis in a starting pitching thread is what took this off topic. And it's said over in over again in topics that have nothing to do with them. THAT'S what I think bothers a lot of people. Some of us have learned getting a reaction is exactly what he wants, so best not to play along. So, back to starting pitching. One thing I keep seeing is "Hader is penciled in" to the rotation- or various versions of this. But I don't think even the Brewers know for sure if that's the route they're going to go. They haven't said or even hinted at it publicly, and I think that's because they honestly don't know yet.
  13. Middy for Jordan, yes. Brogdon and Henson for Jordan, yes. All 3? No.
  14. Replace Peraltas name and his former team, and it's exactly the type of signing Stearns would make. And why Not? Cheap, one year, no downside. Upside is you get the pitcher who was very good for a stretch.
  15. We should get used to this, it won't be last move on the 40 man. Maybe he sticks, maybe not, but absolutely no down-side. Also worth noting, I can see one of the catchers dropping off before this is all done. I don't see any reason to carry all of Susa, Bandy and Voght. Then you have pitchers like Drake, Webb, Wang, and Guerra who aren't exactly must haves. that's all before any potential trades that could shake up the roster. It's not like this is DS ONLY strategy. He has proven he will use any and all means to find talent at the MLB and MiLB levels.
  16. Of the remaining teams the Badgers could play, who scares you the most? Honestly, I still think Ohio State is a tougher game than any of the teams they could met in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, they won't be favored to win against any of the playoff teams- they would all be tough to win. I just think if OSU brings their best, it will be tough to win that game. After that, Oklahoma scares me. Wisc hasn't had to play against a really good wide-open offense like that. Funny thing is, of all teams that could still make the playoffs Alabama worries me the least.
  17. The NCAA is the problem in the first place. Now ask them to get involved in the scheduling? I ask you, how do you expect that to turn out? I get what you're saying, I just don't think having the NCAA MORE involved is a solution.
  18. So, if you guys can see the flaws in having Villar come off the bench don't you think the Marlins and other teams will have the same issue. Same thing for Broxton really, although he probably carries a little more value. They're cheap and controllable, yes. But there's lots of other guys that fall into that category. Rule 5 picks, minor league FA, etc. Could very well be wrong, I just don't think there will much of a market for them. Broxton would have brought back a bigger return after the 2016 season, when there was a lot of reason to be excited about his ceiling. Now teams know his ceiling, and it's pretty high. Unfortunately he only reaches it a few weeks a year.
  19. I imagine residents of about half those states you mentioned will be surprised to learn they don't live on the East Coast.
  20. This might be a bit Debbie Downer. The Packers won a SB in the 2010 season. Since then they are 66-29-1(no including this season) have won five of six North division championships and been to the NFC championship game twice. I mean, I get it... we want to win Super Bowls but only one team does that each year and for whatever reason it is, the Patriots are the only franchise to have figured out that potion to some extent. Well, we're now seeing why the Packers had that regular season record- Aaron Rodgers. Without him, TT and MM are exposed. I mean, TT already has been exposed on defense for years. Now we're seeing it on the other side of the ball. MM was 100% responsible for losing to Seattle, not some backup TE that gets all the grief. Packers were in control, and MM throttled down. You could see everyone celebrating on the sidelines, they stopped playing. That's entirely on MM. Finally, it should be extremely rare to lose a playoff game at home if you're a good coach. MM lost several. Honestly, any really good HS football coach could get the Packers to the playoffs every year with Rodgers at QB, and I'm not even kidding.
  21. I like this. If Villar/Broxton gets you Yelich/Gordon then maybe Oliver Drake gets you Kershaw.
  22. I'm not stewing about it anymore, I'm in the last stage of grief- acceptance. TT and MM won a SB once 10 years ago, so they are golden. Rodgers was injured so they'll get yet another pass. I bet even Capers is back.
  23. There is someone (a place actually) where you CAN actually do this you know ; ) I know, but do you think Vegas would give you 50:1 odds on the Brewers making the playoffs? Seems pretty steep. ESPN doesn't have to pay out, so they can throw anything they want out there. I think Vegas would be a bit more careful with their numbers. 50/1 in Vegas? Yea, I can see it. I don't pay close attention to that stuff but wouldn't surprise me if those were the odds last year before the season started.

  25. Waste of time. Yes, bring those four guys in, by all means, but let's not stop there. Let's trade for Kershaw, Kluber, Altuve and Stanton. Sure, it's a lot of money. But it's not OUR money so why should we care?
