  1. Agreed. As a bench player, he is valuable. As a quasi-starter, he is not. I'm not going to predict if/how he fits beyond that, because you can bet there will be more changes to the roster between now and April.
  2. Only nostalgia I'll have is when the Badgers played there in the NCAA tourney. Building was all red and by far the loudest I ever heard in that building. Beyond that, won't miss it a bit. Then again, I may be the only one who doesn't like Miller Park either, for the same reason. Just very generic, no character. Whenever I go to Miller Park I feel like it's all CGI, I'm walking into a sim world or something.
  3. Henson fits Kidd's defensive system (which we can debate), it's why he's in the game at crunch time and not Monroe or Maker. After this season, $24MM is freed up (Monroe/Sanders) then another $20MM the year after (Mirza/Delly.) Henson is fine for what he does, maybe a little overpaid, sure. But $39MM for Monroe, Mirza, and Delly hurts a lot more. With all that said, Middleton is the guy who needs to step it up. They need to get 3-4 three pointers out of him every game. Not twisting fall away shots from 15 feet.
  4. It is meant to be subjective. We all have our own criteria for ranking prospects. You can value results, weigh results from last season more than others, look at potential based on skills, take into account park factors, etc. Further, some posters will have much lower rankings for bullpen arms, guys they project to be bench players, etc. Dictating how we rank them is probably not a very good idea. Actually, when I look at various prospect lists that get published I think ours ends up looking the best.
  5. I get you're sick of hearing it, but versatility is really important. The Brewers (and most teams) now carry an extra arm in the BP. That means the guys on the bench really need to be versatile. Especially last year, as an example, when Aguilar took up one spot and can only play 1B. Another is the backup catcher, of course. So you can't have more guys than that on the bench who can only play one position correct?
  6. Yet I would bet Orf wouldn't even be passable playing SS in MLB. I don't know that for a fact. Maybe he will get a shot, who knows? $2.4MM is nothing, especially in 2018. It's an insurance policy, and a cheap one. And yea, people gloss over the fact he can play SS like it's nothing.
  7. Exactly! I agree with you, don't flinch and trade away top prospects for short term contracts.
  8. Hoping Giannis gives a nod to the past by trying a sky hook at some point in the game.
  9. Yes, it's a good deal for the Brewers. But I think it's a good deal for Chase too, just ask Villar. He had a really good year, but what if he reverts back to his norm or worse gets injured? If I were him, I would have taken this deal too. Hard to turn down a huge chunk of money. Or, as a wise man once said: "If anyone ever offers you 10,000 to 1 odds on anything, you take it."
  10. Isn't that the same thing? Not sure I see the difference. No, CC would not have won if it was generally believed the Brewers were an 86 win team going into the season.
  11. Great for him. But that award is countered by the IGT, which named him worst manager ever.
  12. Most importantly, he's stuck behind Phillips. But being blocked shouldn't affect the status of a prospect.
  13. This time around, Rodney Dangerfield Award clearly goes to Jordan Yamamoto.
  14. he is OK, has a career 33.4% shooting, but definitely not great. 33%?? Yea, then what's the point. If they want to trade Delly/Vaughn for him, fine. But I would not give up a pick, or really Mirza, Henson, Moose. They can't afford to deal a way a big, they don't have much there to begin with. Just seems simple at this point. Anyone they add should either be a shooter or a big. Even another defense/rebounding only big. A PG that can't shoot doesn't seem to move the needle much.
  15. Bledsoe isn't even a great 3P shooter is he?
  16. Yea, they even call traveling all the time when a player starts to drive and shuffles feet first, even the stars. Saw that called several times just last night. I don't mind an extra step on a break away dunk. But those examples posted earlier are over the top, that's traveling.
  17. I honestly don't think Giannis traveled. NBA has actually improved in this area, which is good to see. Also, love the rule change to cut down on bogus shooting fouls.
  18. Yep, he is a great QB coach. Not a HC. There are lots of great coaches in all sports that can't be a good much less great HEAD coach. And I'll even give MM more credit that that. I think he was a really good HC. But time is way overdue to move on. He has his window won a SB, can't live off 2011 forever. TT is really getting a pass here too. Capers should have been gone a long time ago too, but it's not like TT has provided him with a boat load of talent. I'm on an island, I know, but I've been calling for a complete overhaul for over 3 years now.
  19. Off the top of my head, this year alone Vikings and Dolphins are better than 4-12 with catchup QB. Beyond that, lots of other teams who are at least 500 without a great QB.
  20. Thompson and McCarthy are horrible. 4-12 team at best without Rodgers.
  21. One game I went to this year, sat by a guy with a Supan jersey. I thought it was pretty funny. But I did have to ask, just to make sure he was wearing it to be ironic. Personally, I don't own a jersey but if I did I would go retro with Lezcano, Hisle, Robidoux, Cirillo I can think of a lot of them. Or, I would buy into the future with a jersey for Erceg, Yomamoto, someone like that.
  22. This is what stood out to me too. And the great news is there's no reason the Brewers can't have a dominant BP when they're ready to compete for a WS. Just like KC did. Yea, it helps to have Bellinger, Kershaw, etc. But let's face it, the Brewers will never have the best roster on paper, or per Fangraphs, etc. That's fine. If they have a really good team overall, and a dominant BP they have a legit shot. Brewers can build a team like that because a dominant BP doesn't cost as much as a Harper or Greinke.
  23. The players have asked for less arduous travel schedules and more time off. I know, but they can get over it. The biggest factor is days off, not whether a flight is an extra hour here and there. When you play 9 out of 10 days on a regular basis I don't think it matters much if that's in San Diego or Mexico City. But they're not going to cut down the number of games, and they're not going to extend the season. They'll just have to learn to live with that inconvenience while making a fine living playing a game.
  24. It sounds like we're still in 1952 or something with all the travel time discussion. So a flight is an extra hour to any of these cities being mentioned, I don't understand the concern. You're going to a city for a 3 game series, I don't see why an hour here or there makes any difference whatsoever. Back to Mexico City, the issues are two-fold. Money and security. The money part we know is always #1. But security has to be a concern. Kidnap/ransom is a real threat in Mexico, even in Mexico City.
  25. Agree with all of that. And to be clear, in no way do I expect Braun to retire. More of a "what if" comment by me above.
