  1. Exactly. Bottom line, it's part of his job. I'm pretty sure we all have things about our job we don't like, but we do it. Doesn't matter if we care what he has to say or not. (I don't.) It's in his contract, so do what you're supposed to do. I really hate the attitude of "the rules don't apply to me."
  2. This really comes down to if Milwaukee legislatures will support the plan or not. Even though the legislature is Republican and would in theory vote Yes on any Walker bill, I don't see why a representative from Eau Claire would vote for something that benefits Milwaukee if the Milwaukee legislature won't support it. Yes, I don't see this being voted on along party lines. This is not going to be easy at all to pass. Remember Miller Park and what a battle that was. Yes, that included a sales tax but the Brewers also had much wider appeal across the state that the Bucks do.
  3. I won't get excited until the legislature passes this. That is by no means a slam dunk, pardon the pun.
  4. Not sure I agree. Peralta can get by with his fastball alone. It has a lot of movement, and he is a good pitcher with that pitch alone. Obviously the more he commands his other two pitches, he can be a great SP- even elite. With Nelson, his FB is straight and he simply can't rely on it alone for more than one trip through the line-up. He really needs his curve to work, or develop a change (anything off-speed.) I know the Brewers understand this, and we'll soon see how he looks in Spring.
  5. Brooks Kieschnick 2.0- now with 25% more veteran grit.
  6. Understood, but I guess I already am planning for 2016. I'm sensitive to Mark A's desire to compete every year, and more importantly the dangers of having a true fire sale with a 60-102 team. So I wouldn't trade everyone, but if it looks like the there's a couple arms that look good in Spring I would be tempted to move Lohse or Garza for the right deal. I would rather struggle with a couple .500ish seasons and really build a strong, young rotation, continue to slowly improve the position players, and build up the farm system with true high ceiling guys. This team needs to hit it big with another Fielder or Braun from within at some point.
  7. Yea, I'll be keeping an eye on Nelson and Thornburg. Nelson will never get deep into games as long as all he has is a plus straight fastball. If he can't add an effective curve or change, he's destined for the closer role at some point. Thornburg, I agree they need to see if he can hold up as a starting pitcher. He definitely showed signs he can get the job done if/when healthy. I would love to see both of them (or someone else step up) so they can dangle Lohse of Garza and see what they can get.
  8. Jungmann as the #6 SP? Say it isn't so. Maholm...that would make a lot of sense- I can see that happening. Diplan is the piece that excites me, they need a group of these high ceiling guys, since there aren't any in AA/AAA.
  9. After reading and listening to all the pundits in the last 12 hours, this is really the play that bothers me the most. It signifies the attitude on the sidelines- that the game was over. Return that thing another 20 yards or more, and then maybe the game IS over. Bostick's play was horrible, but at least he was trying to do something positive. That's actually the one that bothers me the least of about 20 plays I can come up with. Packer fans are so "nice" and McCarthy is never held accountable. Epic playoff fail after epic playoff fail. Not exaggerating too much when I say a really good HS football coach could win division titles with this team. McCarthy is paid to win Super Bowls, and has been horrible for years in the playoffs. I mean, how do you NOT expect a fake FG in that situation?!?! Everyone I was watching the game with yelled simultaneously "they're going to fake it!!" I could go on and on. The man just does not have a feel for the game, his nose is always in his play charts, and can't see the big picture. But, not only is his job not in peril, he'll probably get nothing but kudos for a great season. Apparently the only reason they lost is..."that's football." Amazing.
  10. That seems rational, but not necessarily true. Buying a gym membership and organic foods your whole life adds up to a lot of money. I don't suggest being 5'2" 600 pounds is ever healthy, but if someone is a few pounds overweight with no family history of heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol ,etc. chances are that person will be just fine without buying organic beans or working out at a gym. There is actually quite a bit of research in this area. Look, I'll go to the farmers market during the summer- more for something to do than anything else. I never add salt to my food-ever. Just got into that habit many years ago. (Now pepper...that's a different story!) I do workout, not as often as I want to. So I do think it's important to take care of yourself, I guess it's just a matter of degree.
  11. I've never got involved with the whole organic food craze, not to say I have any issue with those of you who do. First, I doubt there's any evidence that getting produce from a farmer's market (if the sign says organic or not) is any healthier what I get at the grocery store. Secondly, where do you get produce the other 8 or 9 months out of the year? (At least here in the Fox Valley there are no farmers markets most of the year.) Then, there's the issue of taste. Could be a placebo effect going on here. I grew up having a large garden, and I don't notice any difference in taste now that I get produce from the store. Kudos to those of you who believe in the organic foods movement. I believe health is 99% genetics, based on my life experience. My grandpa lived to be a very healthy 98, and I don't think the man ever ate a vegetable. That's just one example of many. I like to think I eat relatively healthy, I never add salt to my food- ever (as an example.) I'm just not willing to travel all over to get my produce when I really don't even like vegetables. Again, not saying anyone else is right or wrong, it's just what's right for me.
  12. How about naming rights, like they do with stadiums? Rename the thread "Jericho's official random thoughts thread"
  13. I understand the need for a big to give them some minutes. It's just that I would rather have Jeff Adrien. I really liked the toughness he brought last year, and at least with him there's a chance he stays on the roster and serve as a useful bench player beyond this season.
  14. Which explains why Wolters got so many minutes last night. Pretty classy move by the Bucks to do that, knowing they would be cutting him. Giving other teams some more film on him. Martin deal is meh. Nothing to lose I guess, but I don't him taking minutes away from Henson and OBryant. Back to Larry, does anyone know if he can be cut, and get that roster exemption where he doesn't count against the cap- ala Drew Gooden?
  15. +1. Also, by all accounts his teammates support him so I don't believe they had some sort of secret meeting to oust him. (As suggested above.) I remember when Bogut went on exile to Australia for a month for "personal reasons." Everyone was curious, but very few called him names, said he was a quitter, etc. We don't know what Larry is dealing with, but if it has anything to do with his mental state that's nothing to joke about.
  16. Jeff Adrien is out on the street, he seemed to be a guy who can give you some minutes. Question for anyone who understands the NBA cap, roster moves, etc. Can the Bucks cut Sanders either this year or next year and use the exemption? I know they used it on Gooden, so not sure how often you can do that....
  17. I think Ersan and Dudley do have trade value. Dudley is a cheap vet off the bench for a title contender, Ersan has always been a guy some teams really like for some reason. Mayo, I would think his contract would prevent a trade but admittedly I don't understand how the NBA cap works- so maybe there would be an advantage for some team to take on his salary for next year. Bucks, in theory, could trade virtually everyone on their roster not names Parker or Giannis.
  18. It's one thing to get a team to play hard every night, share the ball, and play defense for 30 games. We'll see if Kidd can get them to do that all season. I remember Skiles first year, he was able to get that out of the team for a while, but eventually that all went by the wayside. Not predicting that will happen with this team, but something to keep an eye on. With Parker out, and Sova may be out for a while, I really want to see Giannis be more of a focal point of the offense. Also an opportunity for Henson and OBryant to get more minutes.
  19. There's a domino effect too. The longer your neighbor's house looks like crap, chances are others will follow eventually. If this one gets fixed up nice, maybe others will keep theirs in good shape as well. That will be very helpful when it comes time to sell.
  20. As for Universal, not real convenient if you're staying at a WDW property with no transportation. But yea, the times we stayed off-site we drove over to Universal CityWalk (which is free.) Various restaurants, shops over there. Only went to the actual Universal theme park once, although I am intrigued by the new Simpsons themed Springfield area. Ditto what Tea said about Studios. You won't need to spend much time there. They do have a Beauty & the Beast show if your girls like that movie. And their night time show (Fantasmic) is really cool, they will love that- just get there early enough for a good seat. (like anything else at Disney.) Epcot and Animal Kingdom are different for everyone. Some people love one or both and can spend a whole day/night or more. Others don't, you'll just have to see how interested your kids are.
  21. Yes. They should be (and probably are) trying to move Mayo all season. Problem is, he won't be easy to move. Just hope he gets hot for a couple weeks and someone may want him as a scorer off the bench. Sova they should move also, and I would think there are takers for him. I don't mind him being on the roster as much as Mayo. Back to Knight, at least he isn't a liability on defense- which is really how this team is being built. Parker is no defensive wizard, but other than that I think moving forward anyone added to the Bucks roster will need to play defense, and be the type of player that wants to play defense. I love Knight as a combo guard off the bench, I don't love him as the starting PG.
  22. Bayless, Dudley, and Middleton are all at 40% from behind the arc. I agree, they need another shooter but I could see Bayless serving that purpose. As he gets more PT his confidence is growing, and his stroke looks pretty good to me. Then again, I thought the same thing about Middleton last year, now I'm not sure if he can be that guy. But yea, I'll take Wesley Matthews. As for PG, I have no idea what Knight will be worth in a trade today or on the open market at the end of the year. I wouldn't mind having Knight back, but not anywhere near a max contract. If the Bucks think that's what it will take, they may as well trade him now and get something out of it. I like Marshall, but I don't see him ever being a PG that can play a ton of minutes.
  23. disboards.com is an excellent resource I have been to WDW many times, could literally write a book. First, as far as what package to get- that depends on what promotions they have going on at any given time. Depends on how many days you plan to stay, etc. Personally, we always take Parkhopper as part of our "package." Doesn't cost much, and makes it possible to attend two parks the same day. As others said, I could go on forever so I will mention only a few items I think are important to know. 1) Learn about Fast-Pass and take full advantage of it. 2) Key is (especially Magic Kingdom) to be there when the crowds are the lightest. Depends on your family, of course, but if there's any way they can stay up late (even one night for Magic Kingdom) it will be worth it. You can use "Extra Magic Hours" to get in early and stay late. This is the perfect time for kids that age to enjoy all the rides that are age-appropriate for them without waiting forever. AVOID Fantasyland or pretty much Magic Kingdom in general during mid-afternoon. Prime meltdown time. Go back to your hotel and take a nap- yes YOU too. 3) My opinion only, but I would try to steer them away from the character autograph lines. If they get into it, you will find yourself in these autograph lines literally half the day, then they'll be upset if you tell them they have enough. A true lose-lose. You would be better off going to a character breakfast or something. 4) Resign yourself to the fact there's no way you'll see and do everything. I have my own opinions of what your kids would love, but of course every family is different. Depending on when you're going, these four things can turn from important to critical in a hurry.
  24. Agreed. Especially because tanking now wouldn't do any good. There's going to be a group of teams worse than them no matter what the Bucks do. I really don't care if they get the 9th pick or 14th pick in next year's draft. This team plays hard, plays together, and plays defense. If you bring those three things every night, you'll win a lot of games in the NBA. They need to keep that culture and keep driving for a playoff spot. Then battle hard against the #1 or #2 seed. That's the path I want to see them on. Get used to winning, expect to win, and go into next year expecting more. Then you get Parker back, another couple of 1st rounders, and a better idea of what FA will fit. Sounds corny, but I'm actually proud of this team. They use O'Bryant and Dudley at Center and still beat Sac on the road...that is amazing.
  25. Wow. Modern music RIP.
