  1. Probably, yes. But it wouldn't be something I want to see regardless. Why would you want Fiers to be tossed from the game, improving the Cards chances of winning the game? Not to mention what it could do to Fiers long term, he's likely at a fragile place already. Instead, I would like to see Fiers pitch a real gem and squeek out a 1-0 win. That would be 100 times better than a brawl.
  2. I'm hearing from my child in college that it's becoming popular to dump Iphone for Android. I don't know much about it, other than there seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction with itunes among that age group. Not sure if that's widesprread, or just this group of "kids." I do think people aren't aware there are TWO sizes of 6, depending on whether it is 6 Plus or not. Either way, I get my phone through work, and it's Android. I do get a few choices whenever Im eligible for a new phone, and the size is a tough decision. Can't have it both ways, I like it smaller so it's easy to carry around, but then when I use it I wish it was bigger. I'm guessing at some point they will figure out how to make it expandable so we have the best of both worlds. Finally, ipad. I never wanted one, didn't see the point. But my got a mini, and I find myself using it a lot. Just easier to grab quick and use than my laptop when I'm sitting around at night.
  3. I don't think the NFL ever suspended him. The Patriots may have when the news first broke, but they released him pretty quickly if I remember right. In that case, it was so blatant I don't think the NFL had to get involved.
  4. I hate sliced bread, the wheel, and indoor plumbing. Oh yea, and fire.
  5. Even better, AAA Appleton and Low-A Franklin, Mequon, or Waukesha
  6. Yea, it's hypocritical. But I'll keep watching because I love the NFL. I am not going to let a few knuckleheads determine how I spend my Sundays. There are abusers at WalMart, McDonalds, and Sony also. Some are discovered, some aren't. Either way I'm not going to stop being a customer of their product/service. We can provide a litany of problems in MLB, NCAA, NBA also. I'm not going to just stop watching sports. I think we can do both simultaneously. Keep watching and supporting the sport, while putting pressure on to handle things the right way. Is DUI better or worse than child abuse? Not sure, but we still support the Brewers, even thugh Yo wasn't suspended at all. Or an even better example...KRod...
  7. I can easily see both these things being true. Barring a trade though, not sure there's a better option. I see no reason to bring Reynolds/Overbay back. Let's see what Clark and Rogers can do, you still have Morris and...can't believe I'm saying this...Halton in case of emergency. At least you're spending almost nothing at the position and the numbers will likely be the same or better than 2014 at 1B. Long term, it may be Coulter or Braun but the above shgould work for at least a year.
  8. Well, now there's evidence that he has "punished" another child of his. Apparently, actually an old story, but now seeing the light of day again. This time it's the child's head that was injured. Mother has text messages where he admitted doing it. I don't need a court to tell me whther or not he's guilty, I'm going to believe there's a pattern of abuse here. I refuse to believe this only happened twice. Not sure what the NFL and/or Vikings will do about it, but there's enough there that he's already guilty in my eyes.
  9. Rogers is an option at 3B isn't he? Not saying I would do it, but you could start him at 3B, Clark at 1B, and Reynolds (or someone) back up both. You're saving almost all of that $14MM, and production may not suffer very much if you look at 1B/3B together 2015 vs 2014. Either way, I don't equate not bringing Ramirez back with "blowing things up." Frankly, I think it has nmore to do with Braun (and to some extent Segura.) If Braun can come back next year closer to the "old Braun" then I wouldn't mind rolling the dice with Rogers at 3B. Problem is, of course, that's a big unknown.
  10. Very few things in life we know with absolute certainty. That's a pretty high bar. NFL home office doesn't have thousands of people working there. They had a video since April, and I find it impossible nobody told Goodell it existed. Just the fact htere's an entire formal investigation tells you the whole thing is fishy. This "investigation" shouldn't take any more than 10 minutes if everyone was telling the truth. Sideshow, no doubt. I wouldn't say it's diverting attention away from a domestic abuse conversation though, I think having this story continue day after day has put domestic abuse in the forefront. And, no offense, but I'm not sure what needs to be discussed. Is anyone in favor of domestic abuse? Anyone who doesn't think it's a big deal probably doesn't have a brain capable of learning anything on the subject.
  11. I have no idea how my thread turned into a Scooter discussion. It is a debate worth having, but it is at the bottom of the list as far as issues facing this team in the future. I didn't even mention Smith/Thornburg. Early in the year we were talking about how either of these guys could be the closer in 2015, or even in the rotation. Just one more example of how things have really changed from April until now.
  12. That's part of it, but the main reason people are this upset is that he lied about having the tape. Sort of like the whole Braun saga, the lie is worse to many people than what was done.
  13. Exactly. I also don't see any proof Braun will bounce back. "He'll get thumb surgery and be back to .900+ OPS." I'm, not convinced of that at all. I'm also not real convinced Jimmy nelson can be a top of the rotation starter they so desperately need him to be. Unless he works on his change and uses it more, he's not special. I'm all for Rogers at 1B next year, they can always move him to 3B eventually if they want Coulter at 1B. Only issue with those moves is they would still only have one LH in the line-up, and that's not ideal. I think that's one (of many) problems they had this year. Would love to have another LH bat somewhere 3-5 in the line-up to force the other team into making tough decisions for once.
  14. My list wasn't in order of importance or anything, if it was Scooter's platoon mate would be at the bottom. I wouldn't mind too much if they wanted to try playing him full time.
  15. As agonizing this collapse has been, what bothers me even more is where do we go from here? I just have this vision of Chevy Chase in Vegas Vacation plugging one hole in the dam, and 5 others pop open. This is A LOT to get addressed: Need 1B Need 2B to complement Scooter Need new SS, or accept a defense-only SS in Segura Possibly need 3B, certainly after next year Braun may never be the same player again, and become an overpaid MLB average OF Need a closer Rebuild bullpen Gallardo-worth having again next year? Peralta, Nelson- Looked like they may be special, but as it turns out Peralta can best be described as "solid" and Nelson can't get through the line-up more than once or twice. Sure, some of these items are to be expected almost every year- like the bullpen for example. But this season has brought about more questions than answers. Braun/Segura are problems I didn't anticipate. Rotation is looking more mediocre than it is elite. Those are things I was hoping to feel better about after this year, instead I feel worse. Please, someone convince me the sky is not falling.
  16. The deflating part was bases loaded in the 8th and couldn't score. That was the ballgame.
  17. He is not THE source, but he is A source. Along with bad starting pitching, bad late inning relief pitching, bad base running, bad htting, and bad defense.
  18. Well, the Lions made a bad choice. Hiring Matt Millen doesn't prove regime change is a bad idea, it proves Lions ownership made a horrible decision. One of many. Why would you want to wait for things to hit bottom of the barrel? Heck, you just said so yourself. If the Packers canned Thompson back in 2009, you can Schneider. Who it turn would have brought Carroll. You tell me, how has that worked out for both sides? Finally, regime change doesn't always mean a complete 180 on everything an organization is doing. If you wait hit bottom, it takes that much longer to get to the top- especially in baseball. The Brewers need a GM from a team that has pitching in it's DNA. Someone who can build a staff that can identify, draft, and develop pitching talent. That's it. That's the only hope the BRewers have to win a World Series, unless they have a "perfect storm" one year and get incredibly lucky/hot in the playoffs. While that's one way to do it, I'll take option A- a GM that will build the Brewers into a pitching organization. (And move the walls back at Miller Park.)
  19. Yes and yes. And interesting analogy with the Packers, because it's time for a change there as well. I'm a big believer in regime change in pro sports, unless someone is just doing an incredibly good job that can't be argued. Otherwise things get stagnant. Give it another year. Try replacing the coaches below the Manager/ Head Caach...ok that buys another year. No, pull the band-aid off in one rip, and start over. It doesn't mean DM is a horrible GM, or even that RR is a horrible manager. Sometimes it's just best to bring in new people with new ideas and approach, and I think this one of those times. Of course, none of that will happen, just saying what I WANT to see.
  20. "Come along with me if you feel like a team without a pulse-a"
  21. Didn't RR have a meeting with the players a week or so ago? Yea, that didn't work. Now a players only meeting. I find it interesting Braun and Gomez were two of the players who spoke up. Good for them I guess, but they are the ones who need to step up. No more talk. No more meetings. Just go out and do what you're paid to do. (Only do it a little better please.)
  22. If that's true, you don't think that has anything to do with the Manager and his staff? That's a pretty telling statement you just made in defense of RR, which to me is more of a red flag that something's wrong...
  23. Actually, no. I don't think it matters a bit. Besides, if he's smiling, joking around, then people will say how can he be so happy when they're losing. He must not be a competitor. No offense, I just think you're trying too hard to compare MLB players to High School players. I grew up idolizing Nolan Ryan. Guess what? I don't remember him smiling before, during, or after a game. (You can insert about 100,000 players names in place of Ryan if you prefer.)
  24. Well, first of all Lucroy never said that. Secondly, do you honestly think he doesn't want to win? Not going to talk you out of being appalled, it's your right. But that's not how MLB works. Lucroy, the rest of the Brewers, or any other team. It isn't HS or Legion ball. You'll notice teams in MLB don't constantly chatter while they're batting as teams do in HS or college. You are making a big leap by taking this as not trying or caring. I can see your point. But if he slides hard right at the base maybe he breaks his ankle and is out for the year. Then everyone would be up in arms saying it was a foolish risk. Plus, Lucroy isn't exaclt Ricky Henderson. He doesn't steal a whole lot of bases, and ws no doubt caught off-guiard by someone blocking 2B. You don't see that very often.
  25. Not that surprising, but telling that all of the top 10 (and 16 of top 20) are at A ball or lower. (Until a couple recent promotions.) 6 of the top 20 are in Helena or lower. We can look at that different ways, but it worries me. Just about all of those pitchers in the top 25 struggled down the stretch, as a reminder to us all these guys have a long way to go. On the positive side, nice to see some bats come on strong at the end of the year. Roache, Denson, Pena, Brennan, Neuhaus to name a few.
