  1. He needs a third pitch. He struggles the third time through the order. I thought he had a change? He really needs something off-speed.
  2. As a long term starter Fiers probably wouldn't be much/any better than Estrada. But for a 1-2 month stretch, he can definitely be better. If he can have a few outings close to what he had when he first arrived in 2012, that would be huge.
  3. Fiers last start: 6.0 IP 5 H 1 ER 0 BB 7 SO
  4. They very fact we're commenting on Wooten vs Falu tells you a lot about our depth these days.
  5. I disagree. I think this year is all about developing Giannis, Parker, Henson, Knight, Sanders and the rest of the young core. I don't want to see the Bucks go out of their way to play the mediocre vets just to up their trade value, while hindering the development of the young core. Why do we need huge cap space right away? IMO, we don't need to be huge factors in the FA market, we need to develop through the draft. Not sure I'm following. Pretty sure we agree, and just said the same thing about developing the young players. Maybe I'm missing something?
  6. 1. Clint Coulter (Power over tools) 2. Tyrone Taylor 3. Orlando Arcia 4. Taylor Williams 5. Tyler Wagner 6. Jason Rogers (This high mostly because he will be in MLB at least) 7. David Denson (Young and not over-matched at low A) 8. Jorge Lopez 9. Devin Williams 10. Victor Roache (Starting to hit a little for avg...finally) 11. Brandon Diaz 12. Tyler Cravy 13. Shawn Zarraga 14. Nick Ramirez (Kris Davis track? Not a huge prospect, but may surprise?) 15. Taylor Jungmann 16. Wei-Chung Wang 17. Monte Harrison 18. Jake Gatewood 19. Kodi Medeiros 20. Gilbert Lara 21. Michael Ratteree (Power, and a pretty good RF) 22. Shervin Matos 23. Ariel Pena (Still shows signs of being a #5 SP) 24. Johnny Davis (Speed and defense, can hit some) 25. Taylor Brennan (Plays a great 3B, takes walks, lots of potential here) Just don't feel good about ranking the 2014 guys higher yet. Not big on Reed or McFarland. Hard to keep saying with a straight face Jed Bradley is a top 20 prospect. Really tough right now, there are even more guys who could/should be in the Top 20- just not enough to go on yet.
  7. Not too concerned with how many wins they have this year. This year should be all about moving Mayo, Irsan, Pachulia, and Delfino. Or even Sanders if they want to do that. This would give them a ton of money to play with next year, and moving forward. Then it's about figuring out how to use all the young pieces, and looking for improvement from guys like Henson, Giannis, Knight, etc. Basically, this is the first year of the rebuild, and by the end of the year you want to know what you have, and what you need moving forward. They just need to move as many of those big contracts as they can. Not only is it throwing money and cap space away, those guys will take valuable minutes away from the young guns.
  8. Turns out it really wasn't a big road trip. Only 2-4, but still in first place. Sure, they could have extended their lead, but you can say that about any week. Even if they did extend the lead to 2 1/2 games, there's still 2 months to go- so really doesn't move the needle much.
  9. If Garza misses one start or 10, Fiers should get the nod. But he won't, because RR's Manager Rule Book says Estrada must get a chance to blow 3-4 games first (since he was in the rotation earlier this year.) Look, Fiers at his worst is basically the same as Estrada. But when he's at his best he can really be almost dominant. In the middle of a pennant chase, I'll take the arm with the upside.
  10. Hitting them won't make it stop, that's their game. If anything, the brewers should do more of what drives them nuts. Bat flips, rounding the bases after a hr in a slowwww jog, crank up the ribbon lights....heck start un- tucking again. I'm serious, that stuff obviously gets in their heads.
  11. Just to add one thought. Let's assume the Brewers DID overpay a little for Parra? So what? A trade means you have to actually give up something. For those of you who don't like the deal, who would you have given up? Ramirez? Rodgers? Ratterree? I mean the one things the Brewers have in the system is a lot of bats in this range. Guys that are solid prospects, with some upside. You trade one of them for an obvious need. Finally, nobody is talking about the upside of Parra. Maybe being free of Gibson and having a frsh start will bump up his OPS by 100 points, heck even 50. And you get that for another whole season. I did see Banda's last start by the way, and I wish he wasn't included in this deal- but that's nitpicking.
  12. Wow, I can't believe the rampant speculation here. Parra is a nice fit for a a need they had- period. A fairly significant upgrade over Schaefer. Braun and Gomez are not 100%, that's just not true. Hanniger is a fair price to pay, and I won't lose any sleep over it. Especially since we get Parra for next year as well, which is a nice bridge to Ramirez, Rodgers, Taylor, or some other 4th OF for the 2106 season. It doesn't mean Davis is being traded, Braun is moving to 1st, or anything else. Usually the easiest explanation is the right one. A little amazed by the feedback here, just seems like a fairly straightforward comoon sense trade to me.
  13. Really? How about as a PH every night instead of Schaefer? That's reason enough. But if it isn't, I'm sure they would like to rest Braun more often, but simply can't afford to take him out of the line-up. Parra allows Braun to rest once a week. Similar story with Gomez, Davis. So I would expect 2 starts a week from Parra. Something I'm sure they would have loved to so with Schaefer or Gindl, but couldn't.
  14. All this is way OT, better suited for statistical analysis forum.
  15. I saw it in the Movie Theatre. True, the visuals were really cool, but that wore off after 15-20 minutes. The rest of time I was bored silly. I actually started dozing off, literally. And I really WANTED to like this movie too.
  16. I would also bring Hermida up and send Schaefer down. I don't care about back-up CF for a month. I think it's more important to have a bat that can PH and not be an automatic out when Braun needs days off. If Rogers was a LH, I would give him a shot. But he's not, so I'm more comfortable with Reynolds. At least he plays a great 1B, and can hit big flys. How is Velez defense? I wouldn't make that swap for Segura, but I would be willing to include Segura in a trade for a bat today. Hard to believe just a couple years ago, looked like we were stacked at 1B/3B. Amazing how all the talent in Nashville has either been promoted or died on the vine. Huntsville isn't much more encouraging, unfortunately.
  17. Amazingly Gooden for this year as well. They can stop paying him next year though. Right, but doesn't apply to the cap at least. His agent must wake up every morning with a huge smile on his face. Probably got a Bucks tatoo.
  18. Yea, I've been thinking about that too. Say they do very well agains those teams. Doesn't necessarliry mean they can beat them later. Just as doing poorly against them doesn't mean they can't beat them later. Sure, it tells us something but I'm not going to read too much into it. When this offense is humming, they can hit anyone. When it's not, they can't hit anyone. Impossible to predict when they'll be on, for how long, or what magical force needs to happen to get the bats going. Pretty sure RR has been trying to figure that out all year. (But I am pretty sure the answer isn't bunting more.)
  19. Also, all 3 can add value if their mind is right (Mayo) or shot is right (Ersan, Delfino.) But yea, if they don't play well we're stuck with a high-priced player that doesn't help win games. Actually, I can live with Irsan and Delfino. They will bring something to the table at least. If Mayo doesn't show up ready to play, that's a huge contract providing nothing. Like Sanders last year and Gooden for 17 years prior.
  20. I don't think this week is bigger than any other week. Whether they go 5-1 or 1-5, they are still in the middle of the race. I know, it always seems like the next series is huge. You could pick out any week the rest of the season and say it's huge. Truth is they all are, or looking at it another way none of them are.
  21. Good news/bad news with Henderson. 1 inning 3 ks tonight, but he hasnt pitched since last Sat. Makes me wonder if his arm was sore again.
  22. I took it back about 8 posts ago, but that's ok. I re-read my posts and realized I was sounding dangerously close to WHOAA SOLVVD (with slightly better spelling and grammar.) Objectively, I still don't think the odds are in our favor. But after some of you pointed out past WS winners, I went back and looked at the rotations that won the WS the last 10-12 years. Gave me a sliver of hope at least. To finish tying this up, I want to be clear that I never expected the Brewes to be sellers. I'm crazy, but not stupid. I get that a 1st place team isn't going to trade a Braun or Gomez at the trade deadline. I also never suggested they should trade the entire list of names I outlined in my original post. Those were all examples of guys they could trade, not necessarily all of them. For example, even I would never suggest they trade BOTH Braun/Gomez. Anyhow, it was more of a rant probably best suited for the IGT, but I still think some of those moves should be explored in the off-season. There seems to be real prospects in the lower levels of the minors, but they need an influx of talent in Fresno and Biloxi (or wherever they end up playing next year.)
  23. Yea, I get it. In the great scheme of things, who cares. OBryant looks like he'll make the roster and get some minutes too. But I do think Adrien could have been a piece (small piece) of the puzzle for the next 3-5 years. I really hope they don't keep Wright, I just don't see it.
  24. Meh, Bayless is fine I guess. Very dissapointed they didn't sign Adrien, wouldn't have taken much to sign him. He is a man, and I thought he would be a perfect guy to bring off the bench.
  25. Yea, it just wreaks of "crap, I shouldn't have said that, time to back-track." Problem is, either way it's an insult to Jeter.
