  1. EVERY single prediction I heard or read had the Bucks 2nd last or dead last in the East. And that was assuming Redd would be back, and be their best player. So to win 46 games without Redd, and without Bogut for the stretch run, is really impressive. Skiles is coach of the year, although I'm sure he won't win the award.
  2. I would guess that anyone who has been able to find this site, and takes the time to read and psot here are Brewer fans by definition. Casual fans wouldn't bother.
  3. I'm sorry, I take it all back. This is a well-managed club that just had a couple bad breaks. Macha is widely regarded as one of MLB's great Managers. This team is well-positioned to turn it all around with Suppan on the mound tomorrow.
  4. Always nice when someone has the supreme knowledge of knowing who the "true" fans are. 3-5 streaks happen. Manager-aided 3-5 streaks should NEVER happen.
  5. Isn't that what a bench coach is for? Or did he talk to Macha and he ignored him? I want a four word headline in the J/S tomorrow: Randolph named Interim Manager
  6. Don't panic...just get a couple guys on base for Zaun
  7. At least it saves me from worrying if Hoffman blows another save
  8. Way to mix in a can of corm fly ball into your suckitude Zaun
  9. Forget zen... Brewers are in a Zaun-like state of mind
  10. Doesn't even have to be with playoffs in sight. Some team would overpay for him during the hot stove league as well. Prince is a very marketable guy, and I could see a floundering team like the Nationals or Orioles sign him jsut to generate ticket sales and fan interest. Even look at the Royals. A team floundering for years. If they're in the pennant race, they may be willing to swing a trade for Prince to have him for the pennant drive, then flip him in the off-season. The "face of the franchise" if you will. Some of you guys think too logically, when logic doesn't always apply in pro sports. I'm sure Prince will get every bit of 8 years/$200MM.
  11. I don't mind Prince being traded, as I was prepared for this ever since they extended Braun. But I am sickened that Boras had to open his big mouth this early, causing all the talking heads to chatter about it. Here we are, in April, and we're going to to hear about this all season. Prince is only human, I'm not sure it's possible to focus 100% on baseball and stay "loose" when all this is swirling around him. Could it be that Boras is forcing the Brewers' hand, trying to force a trade NOW already?
  12. Right. And it's impossible to prove if that has any effect on his performance, but it could. In fact, that brings up another angle. You know, it is possible he doesn't have a monster season. What does it do to his value if he hits .271 with 28 HRs?
  13. Thanks Rickey, this is a great thing you do. Win-win for everyone. By the way, I just have to tell you this. I have a 2 year old nephew that doesn't know any of the Brewers' names yet, but he'll point at you on TV and say "Doorman!!! Doorman!!!"
  14. Sure, but Suppan, Hoffman, Prince, Davis, etc. will be coming off. Plus Wolf (in a few years), Zaun, probably Hart, etc. I haven't looked at how the total salary could look like in each of the next 4 years or so, but I would think losing these big salaries will more than make up for extending Weeks, Gamel, etc. The net result should be a lower salary than they have today. Key to winning a World Series is they just have to have a couple young, stud starting pitchers during a 2-3 year window (at least.) We have seen having Braun/Fielder isn't enough. You can win it all without an exceptional 1/2 punch at the top of the rotation, but it doesn't happen often. And I'm still not convinced Gallardo can be one of the two. That's why signing Fielder to a meg-deal just doesn't make sense. It puts the Brewers where they already are. An exciting team to watch, but no real threat to win it all. That $20-25MM needs to go to starting pitching. I like Narveson or even Parra/Bush in the #4, #5 spots and Gallardo in the #3 spot (MAYBE #2) But the Brewers still need that Sabathia type ace. You look at 2008 with Sabathia/Sheets/Gallardo. If they could have that rotation (healthy, of course) for 2 or 3 years, they would have beena legit contender. Without a rotation like that, Miller Park is just a fun place to watch MLB baseball.
  15. Twins couldn't live without Santana...
  16. I think the same thing I did in March. Hart is more likely to produce better numbers than Edmonds, Gerut, or Gomez.
  17. I see this all the time, and I don't think it has a very big effect on the market. Howard and Pujols will stay where they are, and Gonzalez will end up with the Dodgers or Angels. That still leaves the Cubs, Mets, Braves, Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, and others who could potentially be in the market for Prince. Even a surprise team like the Nationals could make a run, or any team looking for a face to put on the organization for PR purposes. If the Brewers aren't in the playoff chase, they should try to move him. But more likely, they can get a better deal done in the off-season. It will be a sad day, but if the right deal is made then I'll view it as the glass is half full. Not only should they get some great talent back, but the salaries of Prince, Suppan, Hoffman, Davis are gone (plus the dead money from this year.) That should allow the Brewers to go out and get a real CF or F, or a legit #3 type starting pitcher. Also gives them a ton of talent to try to swing a deal for a top of the rotation type of SP.
  18. I felt there were 2 huge question marks in the line-up coming into the season (Gomez, Escobar) and three others that were lessor question marks (Hart, McGehee,Weeks (only because of the injury) SO FAR, it looks like 3 of the 5 have been answered. Gomez is what I feared he would be, but Weeks and McGehee have looked very good. They need either Hart or Escobar to be a productive hitter, and then they should score enough runs most nights. McGehee is especially important though, because he'll have a ton of RBI opportunities in the 5 hole. Haven't looked at his splits, but the good news is he seems to hit RHP just fine.
  19. Please, please...let's have the crazy wild version of Marmol today
  20. Why would you waste Coffey today!?!?! Did Macha lose track of the line-up and not realize he didn't PH for Villy?
