  1. Forget about steak......go Triple Steak!
  2. Ok, I got sucked into this one. Did some quick research. Bill Cooper was not killed by the Feds, he was killed by county sheriffs who went out to his home to serve multiple warrants. Secondly, he didn't exactly predict 9/11, he predicted their would be a terrorist attack and Bin Laden would be blamed. Not exactly a stretch. Bin Laden was well known as the top terrorist threat. Heck, the top guy at the NY Port Authority was even more exact. he predicted that since they failed the first time attacking the towers, they would try again- probably with aircraft. After reading about Cooper a bit, seems like he was nut-job anti-Government radical type.
  3. How about Hooter's in Brookfield?
  4. "2008 NL Playoffs" works better for me than any reference to Wild Card
  5. Bigfoot was the shooter on the grassy knoll...that's why he's hiding.
  6. My initial reaction is to disbelieve (if not mock) just about any conspiracy theory. In the information age, and the huge payouts available for media interviews, book deals, etc., I can't believe anyone could or would keep a conspiracy a secret forever. Especially far more than one or two people would have to be involved in most of them. Speaking of friends with crazy ideas, I have a friend who still believes the moon landing was a conspiracy. "Not technologically possible then" "All hype to keep NASA afloat and relevant" etc. Bigfoot, I wouldn't call that a conspiracy. That would fall under the category of "do you believe" like ghosts, UFOs, life on other planets, etc. Surprised to see so many Bigfoot believers. I don't think it's outrageous, but I find it hard to believe there is still zero "real" evidence. I mean, there can't be jsut one or two around or they wouldn't be able to sustain their existence for this long. So if there are, say, hundreds or thousands there would be evidence by now- at least that's what I think.
  7. Good luck with GE. They have a huge finance comapny that's a mess, along with numerous other problems. I've started buying again, but staying far away from GE.
  8. Yes, if Escobar doesn't work Hardy could move back to SS. Some of you act like this is some sort of rare oddity in MLB. Countless players move positions every year- some have been around the league much longer than Hardy. Nothing unusual about this. Hall's problem has nothing to do with position change, it has to do with having a love afair with change-ups and sliders low and off the plate. Finally how would it affect his pay day? The market would dicate his salary, and there would be far more than one team that would want him at SS. It doesn't really matter where the Brewers are playing him. In fact, that would add to his value- a player who can play at least two positions very well.
  9. Not this market timer. My money isn't going back in any time soon.
  10. Keep in mind Hardy had a higher OPS than all but FOUR starting NL 3B. And that includes Chipper Jones who only played 128 games. Also, Hardy has already shown more power than he did in the minors. He could develop a bit more power, and easily be an above average hitter at 3B.
  11. That's the problem. I have no problem with a guy like Suppan as my #5 starter...MAYBE even #4 IF his contract matched that role. It's the reson trading him will be so difficult. I can't think of a team that would want to take on his contract knowing there is no upside. What you see is what you get.
  12. I understand the point, but CC wasn't directly responsible for attendance. The Brewers were in a pennant race, and sold out most games- if CC was pitching that day or not. He was indirectly responsible, of course, because he played a large role in the playoff hunt. Bottom line, CC won't bring fans out just because he's CC. Fans will continue to come out at a 3MM pace if they keep WINNING.
  13. No, I'm not saying this team is built for "2008 or bust." At the same time, I do believe 2009 is a rebuilding year. Taking one step back, to hopefully go two steps forward in 2010. I'm not going to pretend losing CC and Sheets won't have a huge impact. Then you have Yo and Parra at the top of the rotation, and neither one has put together a full MLB season. While not impossible, I just don't see how things will work out to get to 90 wins again in 2009. (And we haven't even talked about the bullpen and holes in the line-up.) That's why I would bring Escobar up right away. I "ignored" Gamel because I think he's destined for 1B or the OF. That will take another year to work on defensively. Now, that is what I WANT to happen. I haven't seen or heard any signs that they ar even considering moving Hardy to 3B or anywhere. A more likely scenerio is that Escobar comes north with the team as the utility IF. And I DO think that will happen. Now, if they are set in their minds that Gamel will be the #B in the near future, then he should be given the chance to win the position in spring training.
  14. I would move Hardy to 3B and bring up Escobar to play SS at the start of the 2009 season. If 2009 is a rebuilding year, then make the move now. Let Escobar work out the kinks offensively and defensively. Look how Hardy struggled trying to hit MLB pitching- and he turned out fine. No matter how long you wait for a player to be "ready" they are never ready when thye first face MLB pitching. There is a learning curve for anyone not named Ryan Braun. Will Hardy be happy about that? Probably not. But he's a professional and will accept the move. Maybe that means he won't sign long term, but we're all just speculating about that. Some pretty big stars have been willing to change positions. Then I would trade Weeks or Hart, just not sure what value they have right now. Brewers may be beetr off giving both those guys one more year if they have limited trade value.
  15. What is the protocol? I doubt it's "tradition" for a team that just got ousted from the playoffs to come out of the dugout and wave to the fans. Just doesn't sound natural for some reason. Milwaukee is different than most other cities, I get that. I guess I just see a press conference thanking the fans as being more practical than random players coming out and tipping their hats.
  16. I think it needs to be a veteran from outside the organization. Someone with no preconceived notions about any of the players. No Simmons, Sweum, Yount, Molitor, Pete Ladd or any other bridge to the past.
  17. At this point, I would be happy with a Game 5. However, this offense has struggled to score more than 1-2 runs for a month now and I don't see that magically changing this weekend. Plus, Moyer is exactly the type of pitcher who gives Brewer hitters fits. After that, you get Hamels again. I smell a sweep, but I hope I'm wrong.
  18. This is exactly how I look at it. It's not a matter of looking at 3B or 2B, etc. You need to look at this line-up and realize there is no #1 or #2 hitter!!!! Actually, it looked like Hart would be a solution at #2. Speed, power, can lay down a bunt... The problem is even when he was hitting well his OBP wasn't that high. When you look at it that way, the only logical place you can find a lead-off hitter is 2B or CF. Hart's trade value jsut took a nose dive, so this off-season probably isn't the ideal time to trade him. Same thing with Weeks. They're probably better off hoping for an upside, rather than trading them and not getting much in return. That leaves Cameron. I think the best option is not to sign him, and use that money to sign (or trade for) a lead-off hitting CF with a higher than average OBP. Gamel may be the answer at 3B at some point next year, unless his defense is still not MLB ready. Hall, even in a platoon, is not the answer.
  19. I would go Yo/McClung in game 4. If Yo's knee is holding up fine...no inflamation or anything. He hasn't throwm much, so there's no way his arm is overworked. If anyone can come back on 3 days rest, it's Yo.
  20. And stopped tanning...
  21. Reminds me of an old saying... "If my Aunt had____" Hitters "are what they are" for the most part. Players with higher BA and OBP are simply better at swinging at strikes. If every MLB player was very good at this skill, they would all be hitting over .300. It's just frustrating because guys like Weeks and Hart have a quick bat. They really can wait another tick before they commit, but they just can't make the adjustment.
  22. It's possible, it just won't be done. I think it's worth a shot putting Nelson in there against a RHP. And the thought of Hart vs Moyer in Game 3 scares me.
  23. I would go: Durham Cameron Braun Fielder Hardy Nelson Counsell Kendall Sabathia
  24. I don't care what anyone says, that's pure pseudo-journalism gold.
