  1. Very important point there. When you're at the store looking at HD picture quality, remember that the vast majority of programming is NOT in HD. Therefore, it is important to check out what the analog channels look like on each set your evaluating. My in laws got an HD set that looks great in HD, but the analog channels are really pretty pathetic. I agree you should use HDMI cables from your set to your converter. You don't have to get top of the line.
  2. 1) As the picture size gets larger, the quality actually gets worse. Although worse is all relative. I can't imagine you would notice the difference in quality between a 27 in and 32 in. Brand, model, etc. will make a difference, but not the size between 27 and 32. 2) Some people are passionate about brands. I would suggest looking at reviews and AV forums that discuss this. ultimately, it's always about price vs quality. For example, I just got some knock off brand monitor and honestly can not tell the difference compared to the name brands. And it was $100 less. 3) Ideal time to buy any electronics is when new models are out, and you can get the previous model for significantly less $, and usually very little difference in quality/features. Extended Warranty is again a personal preference. I generally don't buy extended warranties, but bought one for my largest and most expensive HDTV.
  3. There is nothing wrong with the way you handled it, but I understand it is ironic YOU felt awkward for doing what is right. You could certainly skip the step of talking to him, and just call the parking checker and/or the police. This is actually a huge pet peave of mine. Not quite as bad as when I see I mother driving with her toddler on her lap. On several occasions I have confronted the offenders in both cases. People parking in handicap spots just wreaks of laziness and entitlement. "There's 6 spaces here nobody is using!" Who cares, that's not the point!!! Move your car or I'll call the police and make sure I give them your license plate number (in case you leave before they get there.) Quite honestly, as I've aged I speak out more often on all sorts of illegal and socially obnoxious behavior. I'm the guy at Miller Park who will tell the group of 20 year olds that there are kids around, stop saying the f word every other word, or I'll get security. The more we all speak out, the better our little piece of the wrold will be!
  4. I apologize if I started a thread that doesn't have any value. I realize that posts in just about any thread will have elements of where player "x" should bat in the line-up. I brought it up today since Braun is up and has enough plate appearances to start forming an opinion, plus we're 1/3 of the way through the season. I try to follow the rules of the forum (both written and unwritten.)
  5. Now that Braun is up and you've seen around 50 plate appearances, what is your ideal line-up with the current roster? In thinking it through, the biggest problem I still have is the lead-off spot. Hart/Gwynn Hardy Braun Fielder Weeks Jenkins/Mench Hall Estrada Capuano (because of his power) Hart is "working" for now in the lead-off spot. Significantly higher OBP than Weeks in the #1 slot. Unlike 99% of fellow BF members, I'm not convinced Gwynn can't be the guy one day soon. I like Weeks in the 5th spot, at least for now. He's too much of a free swinger for the lead-off spot, and has been struggling a bit at the plate. I like putting him behind Prince, giving him more protetion than Estrada. Hall is another guy who could move up to 5th if he returns to form. (Some woud argue he HAS returned to form this year.) Jenkins 6th vd lefties just seems to make sense. Vs lefties, I would move Hall up to 6th, Mench 7th. I put Estrada 8th, which may raise the most eyebrows. I just don't like him at 5, too much potential for a DP and not capable of any type of situational hitting. Put him in front of the pitcher's spot, where he can just swing away- because he will anyhow. ---------------------------------------------------- Let's use this as the designated lineup thread. See the post below. --1992casey ----------------------------------------------------
  6. Conspiracy theories are lunatic fringe the way it is, and this one is even more ridiculous. Do you know how many other people would have to be "in on it?" In the media age we live in, you really think everyone can keep it a secret? The whistle blower would make millions selling the story. Not to mention he would be commiting a felony. Then look at the process. The balls are under lock and key, they tumble and randomly pop up. Finally, there's just no way he would choose two teams in the PNW if somehow he could magically control the process AND keep it a secret,
  7. Just bumping Erin to her rightful place on Page 1. May she never be Page 3 material ever again.
  8. I believe Kruk's exact quote about the Brewers last night was "they're a decent team" Did anyone else hear that?
  9. She won't mind, even women can't resist Erin Andrews.
  10. I've tried very hard for two years to find a flaw, this picture isn't helping my mission.
  11. They love making money even more, so the Cards and MLB would rather play Monday instead of losing the gate for that game. Plus, it's not the Brwers and Cards decision to "vote" on it. MLB decides how the games are made-up. You don't suppose the Tribe voted to play home games in Milwaukee do you?
  12. I must be alone, but I thought it was the weakest episode in a long, long time. The dialogue, plot, etc. seemed forced- not as natural as it usually is. Normally I lol at Dwight's character, but the whole on/off bit was pretty stupid after awhile. But I never get sick of Michael's hatred of Toby, Kevin's Mellencamp line was classic.
  13. A proper seat jumper waits until at least the 3rd inning to make sure the said seats are unoccupied. It is not proper seat stealing etiquette to grab seats that aren't yours prior to the start of the game.
  14. Curious to see how Fielder does in the 3 hole vs a solid lefty. I don't recall his splits last year, but if memory serves he was in quite a groove vs lefties for a stretch of the season. He seemed to relax and not over-swing. If he can make Wolfman work, it will set up Bill "I pound southpaws" Hall very nicely. Hopefully Cappy gets a CG victory, and the 18 guys in the bullpen can relax one more day.
  15. "I miss Dwight....congratulations universe- you win"
  16. I've watched every episode and never realized Stanley and Phyliss were in sales. I always thought they were in accounting for some reason. This show has not jumped the shark yet, but they better be careful. This Andy character isn't very funny. I understand what they're trying to do, I just think they're missing the mark. The brown noser who tries to act cooler than he is...I get it and I know the type. Maybe it's just a casting mistake, I don't know. They are doing a brilliant job balancing Michael's character. Showing just enough competency and common sense to "keep it real." "Fool me once, strike one. Fool me twice....strike 3."
  17. Creed and Toby are very under-rated characters. They're used just enough. I have worked with every one of these people, which is why I would probably find it hilarious after 10 seasons- regardless of plot lines. I swear they stole the Toby character from an HR manager I used to work with. It goes to show you, TV shows are all about casting and writing. Great shows need both. Seinfled wouldn't have worked without both, neither would The Office. Kevin: ".....made him repeat it three times because it sounds like something I do every single day." Classic.
  18. It really bugs me when people fly off the handle about anything trivial like that. Man, is that 7 cents going to change your life? Next time that happens, some advice to make you feel better. Hand the person a dollar and say "There's people waiting patiently for you to resolve the missing 7 cents. Here's a dollar...this should take care of it plus more than enough to cover you the next time it happens." I have actually done that (or something similar) several times. Usually the person isn't even bright enough to figure out I was mocking them. they were more than happy to take the dollar!
  19. For some reason it drives me nuts when i hear people use the word "orientated."
  20. Chad Moeller's amage to The Steve Miller Band: "I'm a hustler, I'm a grinder, I'm a double play maker..."
  21. I'm a Ned Yost supporter, but this one's on him.
  22. How predictable ws that!?!?!? Chad Moeller...why why why!!! Hat, Cirillo..anyone not named Chad Moeller!
  23. PH for Chad Moeller NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. This is a mess, but a good mess to have. If Weeks can starighten out his defense, I think Hardy should become the new Super UT. Not for the rest of his career necessarily, but it wouldn't kill him to take on that role for a season or two. With the logjam at OF in the organization, I hate to put Weeks or Hall out there unless it's absolutely necessary. (And 50+ errors at 2B may make it absolutely necessary.) The other option nobody wants to talk about is trading Weeks to an AL team. Because, frankly, it really doesn't matter where Weeks, Hardy, Hall, or anyone plays if you don't improve the pitching staff.
  25. I think Prince is back in the line-up. I haven't seen his early splits yet, but it doesn't seem like he's completely outmatched vs lefties. Maybe his PH last night against a lefty was the icing. Would be a great game to sit Jenks and have Hart play RF...if he was still in Milwaukee that is. Everyone in the IF has had a day off recently, so I would think we would see the standard line-up.
