  1. I think noboby has a clue how much test Hader or anyone else needs. Pitchers are babied more tnan ever with pitch counts, innings pitched, etc., and there's just as many injuries these days, if not more. So sure, you try to give him days off throughout the year, stay on the safe side. But this time of year, if it's a close call....he pitches. Really no science to know if you're hurting him or not. But yea, I wouldn't push 3 games in a row at this point.
  2. Or until Lefleur gets Rodgers' offense down.
  3. Ok, so said posters were wrong. They stated an opinion that their playoff chances were over, and turned out being wrong. What on earth is the big damn deal? People are wrong about stuff here all the time. Does it make everyone feel good to go back and rub it in people's faces that they were wrong about that? Because they were wrong, they should not post as often anymore? Really? Yes, it makes me feel good. True, we've all been wrong at times with our opinions. Difference is, some declared this as fact. Brewers are done, close the book. Dang right it feels good that those people have been proven wrong. Granted, some of that ties in with the same negative comments ad nauseam in the IGTs and elsewhere. CC is stupid, team is horrible, yada yada. Are they any less of a fan? Who knows, I don't know them. I guess I have always had a problem with fans who can't wait for something to go wrong so they can say it sucks to be a Brewers fan.
  4. In other words: Good:> Bullpen>> Bad>>> Nobody
  5. Straw man argument. Nobody, outside of a couple cock-eyed optimists were saying they knew they would turn it around. Lots of us WERE saying it's not over. Big difference.
  6. Need isn't the right word. Say they get swept, Cubs win today and 2/3 vs Pitt. So we're 2 behind with what 14 to go? That's well within striking distance. I mean getting swept wouldn't be good for the old mojo either, just reminding people it wouldn't be the end.
  7. If they want any shot at the division, a sweep is ideal, but 2 of 3 is a must. Taking at least one game is essential to maintain WC striking distance. Agree, except for the last part. They could get swept and still be in good shape for WC. Heck, the way the Cubs are playing they could still be in the lead. Not that I want to find out, so let's not get swept ; )
  8. Right. Mookie Betts won the American League just last year; he played 136 games. 26 games missed is a month. Got any more arguments you want to send over, guys? Even with 32 games missed, Yelich will probably have a higher WAR, per Fangraphs, than Bellinger. And, Bellinger has been a wet fart of late. I'm not impressed by his putting on a nice clean Dodgers uniform if he's not helping his team win. Showing up to increase the total for your games played does nothing to alter the argument. In fact, the Dodgers would probably have been better off had Bellinger sat on his rear end the last 8 games-he's batting .185 over those 8 games, with a WPA of -0.079. The last 21 games (one-eight of a season), he's hitting .214, slashing .360 OBP/.400 SLG/.760 OPS. He's been below league AVG during what would usually be the most critical time of the year. He's not killing his team simply because the Dodgers are so good. You need to be less hostile towards your compadres here. We agree he should be MVP, we're trying to tell you why he won't. Betts didn't miss the last month of the season. Should that matter? Probably not, but it is what it is. It's a subjective award.
  9. Disagree, Baez faded badly down the stretch. Market size makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. And Hollywood adds even more bias. Braun also won over Kemp with similar numbers. The big market argument just doesn't hold up.
  10. You missed the most important number- games played. They're not going to give it to a guy who missed a month of the season.
  11. That's the thing, time WON'T tell. You're already wrong, they weren't out of it August 4th. If they end up making the playoffs or not doesn't change that fact.
  12. I agree with both this post and regarding Taylor starting today. Both would have been a good idea...but having Grandal sit a day would probably be preferred if only one. We can't afford to punt out an AAA lineup today and add greater risk of losing. Just have to trust coaching and training staffs that he's in real good shape. I've alwyas thought that whole old school giving catchers days off thing was overblown. An old guy like Molina, sure.
  13. Would have like to see Taylor get a start vs this lefty. No biggie though, I get that would be a stretch.
  14. I would take a one-legged Yelich over Freitas any day.
  15. I believe the plan is to put Hiura back in the lineup when they come back home. Of course, that could change.
  16. That take aged about as well as>>>> box of wine in the back of my fridge.
  17. Really under-utilized tool. Vary the timing of snap, turn hurry-up offense off and on every drive, even for a snap or two. Really keeps a defense off balance and messes with subbing. At this point though, I would be thrilled if majority of snaps came before 1 second on the play clock. Oh, and boo to Tplush. Pack 23 Vikes 19
  18. Cardinals vs Cubs in WC game. Pretty cool, one of them guaranteed to lose.
  19. Good thing he doesn't suck then, I wouldn't have liked a start like that out of him either. He ain’t done yet. Need two more innings out of him So you wanted him pulled after 5 batters, now you want 6 innings. Checks out.
  20. Moose and Hiura back tonight. I imagine that conversation went like this: CC: How are you guys feeling? Moose/Hiura: Well, I ..... CC: Great! You're both starting tonight.
