  1. Well, you give up on guys early like Hardy, Segura, Scooter, etc. then Stearns is an idiot too. None of this is an exact science, you see certain things and realize Arcia could become a better hitter for a minimal salary. Yea, there comes a point where you move on but the time to do that isn't as obvious as some people make it sound. It's not like he's been Shaw bad, and he brings his glove to the most important position. He needs to be better, we ll know that, but he isn't close to the biggest problem with this team.
  2. The pitching has been worse than I thought it would be, yes. But 2 things have compounded the pitching to make it worse than it should be. Injuries have hurt the rotation, especially Woodruff’s, taking him out for 2 months has taken some wind out of the sails. And this offenses ability to keep far too many games close, with the staff throwing far too many stressful innings has hurt this staff. I don’t mind the trades he made at the deadline, it’s the one he didn’t make that adds to the poor decision making that gives me pause, that he’s the right leader for this team. Galvis for 1.8 million salary this year could have been had to replace Arcia. Imo, a no brainer. Pitching is worse mostly due to the fact Burnes/Peralta both failed miserably. You agreed, in fact loved, Stearns decision to go with the 3 young starters. But he shouldn't be fired for that decision, he should be fired for the horrific decision not to sign a mediocre SS. Got it.
  3. Don't worry about Stearns. 92 just said last night Stearns should be fired if he doesn't sign Hiura to an 8 year contract this off-season. Which really doesn't matter anyhow, because he also said the Reds are the favorite to win the Central next year- hands down.
  4. Time for Frosty Boys to shine with game on the line! Time for making Coach Cooper proud in front of St Louis crowd! Time for PILING ON so we can smile on...or something something
  5. Counsell? Try Joe Maddon. Not only would he do that, he has- more than once.
  6. My mistake, your right, they have only ~ 65 million commited, add ~ 18 for Bauer > 83. The rest of their team is pre-Arby with a couple 1st or 2nd year arby’s. Castillo Bauer Mahle Desclafani will be back, a good bullpen, a young dangerous lineup, with 60-80 million to add FA’s, imo, the favorites to win the central, hands down. You don't HAVE to automatically go the extreme on every take you have. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but like the Reds salary you have just been way off on most of your takes/ predictions. The Reds will be the favorite in the central HANDS DOWN? No....they won't. How about "Reds could be much improved next year, and maybe even challenge for the division." Honestly, just trying to reel you back in a bit from all these over the top takes.
  7. What do you mean wrong activity AGAIN? What has he done that's wrong?
  8. I hate coffee. Believe it or not, and most people do not, I have never tasted coffee, not even one sip. It just seems like an addiction I'd rather avoid. I've seen what it does to people who can't go on another moment in life without it, so I have always stayed away. The importance that people place on getting "their coffee" is kind of sad in so many ways. Yea, but keep in mind most of that is people just being overly dramatic. "I need my coffee!" is more cliche than an adiction of truly NEEDING it. I drink two cups every morning more or less for decades and dont freak out without it.
  9. We probably need a final role call just so we have proof of who stuck with that one for the past six hours. I didnt post until the 14th, just to make it official.
  10. I can buy that to a certain extent. Problem is, the staff is basically 20 guys not 13. In 2018 most of the guys shuttled up were serviceable, this year its been a disaster. I dont think luck is the right word, but seasons seem to work that way. Especially when you're relying on so many young arms.
  11. This has been the line pretty much throughout the entire Favre AND Rodgers era. Not saying you're wrong, but it's time that changes. There's no reason they can't/shouldn't find a backup QB capable of winning a few games. Hoping the defense improves enough that this won't be the case anymore in the near future, if not this season. That said, I have no idea if the answer is in-house already or not.
  12. Looked like he was throwing a dang shot put. DH cannot get to the NL soon enough. I agree. If it’s this bad now, can’t imagine what it’ll be like as he ages. That's what Coach Cooper said about my arm, and he was right. Mean.....but right.
  13. **Stranger Things Spoiler Alert** In some ways I like season 3 more, but in other ways I thought it was the worst of the 3 seasons. I just can't get past the whole Russian base under the mall thing, just came off as a James Bond spoof or something. Also, as someone who "came of age" in the 80s, they tried WAY too hard to hit us over the head with 80s clothes, products, music, etc. I'm just dissapointed because they could have gone a lot of interesting ways in season 3, and the Russian thing just didn't work. Also, the whole Mind Flayer and Upside Down were always mysterious and scary. Turning it into basically just another monster chasing them around was a mistake. 1/3 Wonder Years, 1/3 Bond, 1/3 Alien = Meh. Incredible ending though, literally had tears in my eyes. I don't recall the ending...but I was never a big fan of Stranger Things. I watched it because I pretty much always have my computer on streaming something, even if most of my attention is focused elsewhere. Only when I can't take my eyes of my computer do I upgrade it to "must watch on real TV" status. But I get why people loved the 1st two seasons. I'm usually very easy to please. I don't have high standards for TV. It just has to entertain me. Stranger Things barely did that and I found the Russian base just too ridiculous. Like they can pay off some small-town Mayer and build this enormous base with Russian Soldiers during the midst of the cold war. Anyway, in my boredom I watched two shows I never would have checked out. "Fleabag," and Marvelous Mr. Masiel." I thought both were hilarious. Sorry if I'm late and others posted these, but I just watched them recently and thought both were hilarious. I also was forced to watch Veronica Mars and was told, "seriously, you'll love it, she is so funny." So, didn't know who she was, but that was a pretty clever show and entertaining in a...-if you're going to be held hostage by a GF/Wife, it's not the worst thing you could watch-type show. Sounds like you have Amazon Prime. Try the tv show Patriot, only two seasons. Nobody has taken me up on that yet, it may be my favorite tv series of all time. It's not a background noise type of show, it needs undivided attention. (not the movie THE Patriot with Mel Gibson.)
  14. Sorry man, my bad. Figured you didn't want it, and I didn't want to let it go to waste. P.S.: Wouldn't kill you to have a couple mini snickers or a ding dong or whatever for dessert.
  15. You can't make decisions based on what fans will think. Besides, they get over it quickly. Fielder, Sabathia, Sexson, there's been all kinds of players fans really loved. Guess what? They move on to the next one. 90% of Brewer fans probably never heard of Yelich before he came here. I hate having a middling team convincing themselves they can compete. Maybe lightning strikes this year yet, not ruling it out. If not, I have no problem dangling Yelich and anyone else to see what you can get. 99% sure he'll be gone after his current contract is up, so selling high is worth considering. Finally, with a player like Yelich you're not trading for prospects necessarily. Maybe you get a really good young rotation arm with say 4 years of control as the centerpiece, a SS with MLB experience, plus a couple top prospects. If you can't get that, fine, keep Yelich. But for the right deal, you have to at least listen.
  16. Impossible to refute, you clearly know when a player is tired. The coaching and training staff does not. Oh, and don't forget Stearns- he's a real dummy too.
  17. Black (or navy?) is slimming. That uni is hiding a huge gut from my trained eyes.
  18. I really thought Keke looked good in his first game. My opinion of J'mon Moore has not changed. I don't know how you keep Moore with all the depth and potential they've shown at WR'er. Lazard and Shepard now? Oops, you made a bad pick with your 4th round pick. But you picked good WR'ers in the 5th and 6th, so just move on from that mistake. Yea, even if he was a 1st round pick hard to justify keeping him. (But then at least you could make a case.) Problem is, it's not a matter of perfecting routes, gaining muscle, etc. He has the drops, and I don't now where you go from there. He can improve in that area, but you'll always be waiting and wondering when it happens again. Was the knock against him coning out, and he's in his 2nd year now. Best case for him, find an injury in the next couple weeks and stash on the IR for a year. Then maybe lightning strikes and his hands are like glue next year, stranger things have happened.
  19. They will have a hard time lowering the team salary next year. Braun and Cain still there, filling out the roster puts them right up to this year's level at least. Really doubt they pay big bucks for a SP. I know you used the word notable, maybe you dont mean a big contract.
  20. Adapt or die -Fictional Billy Beane
  21. Extra roster spot next year, so we may see a couple more rule 5 picks. Highly doubt Bickford is one of them, but not impossible. He's young enough, has some of that prospect pedigree, and back to pitching well (albeit a very small sample.)
