  1. Sounds like you're coming around on the Hader decision. Only one question remains. Would you still take Oliver Drake over Jeffress?
  2. Just a wild guess, but I would expect they don't use Knebel/Hader in this game until the 7th to lock it down if they have the lead. 3 innings would be stretching them a bit, especially since they both pitched last night. But if Hader can give you 1 1/3, Knebel 1 2/3....something like that, it's doable. And if they're in the position to take a 3-1 lead in the series, go for it.
  3. It was a whole lot of ground ball singles last year though. Not sustainable. If he's still lifting his back foot on his swing all the time, I haven't noticed it. I don't know how someone doesn't come in and put a stop to that the first time it happens, but he picked a good time to stop. He's always had good contact skills, reflexes, and gap power. Always said he reminded me of Gomez and Segura before they figured it out. Hope this is a sign of things to come. You may be right, but I don't remember it that way. I recall a lot of line drives to RF/CF and driving the ball out of the park to LF. The other thing I love about him is there's no stage too big for him. He's so confident that he'll keep hacking without thinking/guessing too much. There's a downside to that of course, but not a bad trait to have in the post-season- especially at the bottom of the order.
  4. Yea, I don't fixate on announcing. Just too focused on watching the game, and I probably don't even really hear half of what they say. They don't follow the team all year, so I really don't expect any well-reasoned analysis. As for the post game, I saw 2 minutes of FS1 post game, and that was enough. I'm not going to keep going back just to be mad about what they're saying. After a loss, no post game for me. After a win, I'll go to Auggie and the crew and MLB to soak in the win for another half hour. Last night I was actually surprised they all agreed on the Machado interference play (including Harold Reynolds.)
  5. I can see it both ways, gotta trust the plan. Part of me wants Miley/Chacin back in Milwaukee if necessary. Especially if they go up 3-1 tonight. Then you can take a shot with a high risk/reward Peralta start Game 5. Kershaw could toss a complete game shut-out, and it won't matter. That's the risk of starting Miley. But if you can get to Kershaw again, Peralta might be worth the gamble up 3-1. Dodgers are starting to see plenty of the Brewers staff, so Peralta's delivery could really be effective. Plus, the Dodgers chase a lot of high fastballs, which also plays into Peralta's strength. Just some things to think about, but I'm not going to question it if Miley starts Game 5.
  6. I have some friends that were livid about Hader's use. I was too during game, but after, it made sense. Like Counsell is some kind of wizard. I don't get being upset that Hader didn't finish the game...we...won? You would prefer him going out there to throw 35 pitches and be assured he can't play today and probably not tomorrow? Jeffress gave up hits to two superstars and then got out of it with a donut on the board. That had to help him mentally. Hader threw 8 pitches. We won. Basically every pitcher on the staff is available today. People are weird and need to calm down. If I remember right, you were the opposite of calm when Hader came in, then Jeffress. Happy to see you're calling for calm, just really ironic and a bit funny. You're ok with the moves since they won, you would still be all over CC today if they lost. Can't have it both ways. Don't mean to start a whole "thing" here, but at some point people need to realize CC is rolling with far more data than we have. They have a whole team of very smart people spending hundreds of ours figuring out a plan in how to use the pitching staff. Occasionally the plan will not work, as players still need to execute. It worked in the regular season, it worked in the one game playoff, it worked vs the Rockies, and it's working in this series.
  7. Dodgers are gripping. Barnes announced as a starter tomorrow. When have you ever heard a catcher announced the day before a game? I get the move, obviously, but announcing it already? Gripping.
  8. Use the easy button. Its 4-0 not 9-0. Dodgers scored lots of runs late the first two games right? Let Hader roll, win the game and go up 2-1. What do you do if they get a couple runners on? Jeffress? No, dont screw around win the game. Hader available for game 5. I just dont see the downside.
  9. Maybe, but I think he's on the roster in case they need an innings eater in a blow-out or extra innings game. That said, I could see them using him for an inning in one of next couple games just to keep him sharp. Just depends on game situation.
  10. I'm a huge Peralta guy, but I have no problem not using him in high leverage situations. There will be an extra innings game, a game that is 5-0 in the 2nd inning, something like that. That's Peralta time. I see no need to change anything at all in how they're using the pitching staff. The difference now is Dodgers lineup is ridiculous, and there is some familiarity with the pitchers. That's why it's a good idea to throw Hader out there for 2-3 innings instead of one inning every day. Facing the same batters every day gives them the chance to get comfortable. I think that's what's happening to Jeffress a bit. They can use him just as they have been, but he needs to make some adjustments.
  11. I don't know, why are you destined to be negative? Destined to suck? Best record in NL, celebrated in the Cardinals locker room, beat the Cubs and celebrated there. Swept the Rockies and now even 1-1 in the NLCS. You really cant just sit back and enjoy that? By the way, even if they DO drop 2/3 in LA I'm fine with that. Win two games at home yo make it the WS? Yea, I'll take it.
  12. Side effects are trying to figure out what a pitcher is worth in FA, fair value in a trade, and arbitration is going to be difficult.
  13. 2 innings. no Hader tomorrow. So why not give him 3? Makes perfect sense, save one of the Pastry Boys for tomorrow.
  14. They scored 84 in the first half, so it was something we missed..... .a little at least What are the Bucks? The next bandwagon casual Mke sports fans jump on.
