  1. I don't really care about her looks either, but she looks good. And given the choice between a dude who knows what they are talking about and a hottie that knows what they are talking about, I'll take the hottie every time.
  2. Its still a call umpires make every day, multiple times and a call that there is no excuse for blowing. Weeks made the play. He had Soriano, a fast baserunner, busting it down the line and had to get off a quick throw. It got there ahead of the runner and Prince made what for most major league 1B is a routine scoop. Saying he needs to change his throwing motion when most of the times this season he has made the play is really nitpicking. If the ump had made the right call this point would be moot.
  3. So you are saying the ump blew the call because it was a throw in the dirt? Really? THrows like that happen every day in baseball, to good fielders and bad. Are you honestly saying that Rickie's defense has been that poor this year? The only play I can think of that he blew was the ball that went through his glove the other night against the Mets. Sometimes professional ball players and athletes of all kinds have non-traditional quirks in their game. Im not comparing Weeks to Favre but Favre's unorthodox style frustrated Holmgren to no end when he was a young QB. But think of the QB he would have been if they never let Favre throw off his back foot. Rickie has improved his defense tremendously and has been anything but a liability. Whether or not he keeps it up all year is something to be determined, but so far he has made some great plays out there.
  4. No GENO's! not that i really have a preference or am even from Philly, but I couldn't help it.
  5. Am I a dork because I find this really funny? PS: I love science humor.
  6. Man, it seems like we've been down this road only too recently. We're already looking towards the next crop of budding superstars to replace the current crop that didn't pan out as hoped. That being said, the infusion of new minor league talent always provides excitement. What about Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, JJ Hardy and Yovanni Gallardo doesn't excite you? Not trying to be snarky here but multiple posters have given listed reasons to be excited but you seem to only want to talk about the negative things (Julio, the fact that we are talking about replacing current players with new "budding superstars" etc.).
  7. Huh? In your post you say that the rotation is pretty much the same and the offense is pretty much the same as last year. Were you not excited about the team last year? If the team is the pretty much the same and they made the playoffs, isn't that something to be excited about? I'm not sure what you are getting at, because you contradicted yourself a bunch in your post.
  8. Put my name in the hat!! Thanks so much for your generosity!
  9. Anytime I read a thread title and my immediate reaction is a sarcastic one word answer it really makes it hard for me to take the poster seriously. Of course there are reasons to get excited about this team. The thread title in and of itself was begging for someone to make a sky is falling response, Ennder just got there before anyone else. We have some of the best young players in the game at their positions (JJ, Yo, Prince and Braun). The fact that we get to watch them and see if they can develop into some of the best players at their positions period is reason enough for me to be excited to watch Brewers baseball. Mat Gamel and Alcides Escobar are across the board considered to be among the top 25 players in the minor leagues. We have a great ownership group that has shown a consistent desire to make this team better. Our ballpark is the best value in MLB and a true gem. It was a knee jerk post and thats fine, we have seen a lot of them lately but don't dress it up as anything else. The Brewers have quite a bit going for them and we are lucky to have this organization.
  10. The Higgs boson is predicted by the Standard Model of particle physics. It explains in theory how particles get their mass, why it is where it is etc. It theorizes that in space exists a field the Higgs field and this is what particles interact with to get their mass. Confirming the Higgs boson would be one of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time. I agree with you 100% about the article. I'm not even going to start with the discussion because it leads into politics but to me it is ridiculous that science is so often ignored and misrepresented as a tool in politics.
  11. I can't claim to be an expert about this sort of thing, but from what I read the Large Hadron Collider was created to test many of the previously untested theories in physics. The main theory they hope to prove is the existence of Higgs boson particles. Its existence has never been proved, only theorized. If proved correct it should be able to help answer many questions previously unanswered in physics. It has been coined the "god particle" by media sources because of the answers it could provide about our world.
  12. Does anyone else think this is the funniest thing ever? I love it. Me and the GF had a good laugh at the game about it last night.
  13. Lots of good advice here. I am starting to do this as well so a lot of the information is pertinent to me. Anyone out there use any budget/money tracking programs. I was thinking of Quicken, but just thought people might have some good advice. I am horrible with tracking my day to day, non-fixed expenses and thats where all my money seems to go instead of into savings. I thought tracking every dollar I spend might be a good way to identify where it is all going and then consequently stop spending it in those places.
  14. Who decides something like this is a good idea? A Mitch freaking Stetter helmet. I mean come on. Is there really a large market for this sort of thing out there
  15. Here are mine. Sorry I'm real bad at posting pics. I'm going to get some more work on the 30th of April! http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/91e35d2197098ef43a13e4250b742dc3e5add6c.jpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/d33151938232ea0bfa70f407777831ca0ae60d5.jpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/19215b93803be2057b042322fe82cbb789ad741.jpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/44c253794f824323ef704323ae5f0c374204daf.jpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/237256b9df84c367e6806f37da023aaea32498c.jpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/2e415c9a8432e904e0ca948063cd302f336ea7b.jpg (cleaned up code --1992 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
  16. Brilliant! Problem solved! Playoffs here we come.
  17. Absolute statements are very often false. A more accurate statement would be I feel its almost impossible for us to make the playoffs with what we have right now. ha good point, there is always a chance. We are only a few games in and t may work it self out a bit but I'm not sure we have enough. Once Hoffman gets in his groove and if Coffey can pitch as good as he has we could have a solid 8th and 9th. And add Villy in that. We just need more quality innings out of our starters

  19. Get over yourself. It wasn't directed at you. It had no mockery. As I already posted I just wanted to lighten the mood up a little. The issue was debated. It was debated for 11 pages. Heck I even debated it with you multiple times. Sarcasm is not a bad thing. People need threads to have fun in and not just constantly moan or argue with each other.
  20. Glad to see some people figured it out. Just wanted to lighten up the boards and make a thread where people could have some fun instead of freak out and argue with each other. If you didn't get the joke, might be time to lighten up a little. On a side note Its obvious Gallardo is done. My girlfriend's brothers cousins sworn midget enemy said Yo told him that his arm was cashed in a strip joint on the southside of Racine the other night. Its over guys I'm sorry to tell everyone. Maybe we can bring him back as an on field reporter or he can Davey Nelson's place on the radio!
  21. Dude through Aug 30th Suppan had an ERA of 4.5 and had a record of 10-7. Had the season ended then would he have had a "very sub-par season as a whole?" Im guessing no. He had a junky September. For most of the season he was pretty average, not sub par.
  22. well technically Gallardo has next to nothing for a track record seeing as he was hurt for most of last season and this season he is off to a horrible start.
  23. The guy gave up 7 runs today and 2 Hr's. I mean I know he only had three hits against but they were all big hits in big situations. Its pretty obvious the kid isn't ready for the pressure and can't handle being the ace of the staff. He has almost a 7 era in two starts!!! Ridiculous, I thought he was supposed to anchor our staff. (edit: excessive punctuation --1992)
  24. McClung has a 6.00 era, Green and Jefferies need to stay in the minors barring a majority of injuries. Dillard is the only one of those who is a possibility i would say. As far as your reference to the previous poster. Its only been two starts. He could turn in 10 more excellent starts seeing as the season is 162 games long. How is it wishful thinking that he can't give us a few good outings. Jeez , settle down people. He looked bad last night and his performance was unacceptable but it was ONE game.
  25. I go to Solid State Tattoo on KK in Bayview. I wouldn't go anywhere else. All the guys at the shop do a great job. I have heard and seen really good things out of Atombomb in Riverwest and Cutthroat on Brady as well.
