  1. Thanks guys. I think we will totally be going to see Sierra Leone Refuge All Stars at the Guthrie Theatre. We aren't clubbing types. More or less a place with good beer and welcoming people. A place that plays good music is always a plus (indie rock but not the pretentious kind). Obviously being two 24 year old guys, cute girls are always a plus as well. We are also going to be running pretty tight on time getting to the show so a place to grab a bite to eat after the show gets out would be good too. Keep the recommendations coming. Thanks guys!

  3. What's up guys? I am going to pick up a car in Minneapolis on Tuesday and me and a buddy are contemplating going up on Monday night just to "get out of Milwaukee" for a night. Is there anything to do on Monday nights? We probably would just hit the bar, but want to find some place with some people. Also we are open to any other suggestions for stuff to do. Someone told me to go to Joe's Garage. I have no idea though. It has been forever since I have been to the Twin Cities. What should we do? We are open to neighborhoods and just about anything that would be fun for a couple of 24 year old guys to do. Thanks for any suggestions.
  4. Go with US Cellular. I worked in the cell phone industry for a long time and they have hands down the best coverage in Wisconsin. The only thing they lack in is the "latest and greatest" phones. They also are the most "customer friendly" phone company you will find in many different aspects. You will hear good and bad stories with every carrier, thats just the way it is. I will echo someone's statement that you should stay away from their kiosks. Go to a retail store. People actually know what they are doing there. The same could be said for any carrier though. No matter which company you go with make sure you go to a corporate store and not an independent kiosk. You can call and ask them if they are corporately owned or not.
  5. Did I just hear the first Bill Schroeder "got like that approach as he takes it down the opposite line," phrase. Gotta love it.
  6. I love this time of year.
  7. By no means did DM have a "sexy" off season, but it addressed all of our major needs. Improve OBP. Mench and Estrada out, Cameron and Kendall in. Improve team defense. CF and 3B greatly improved and LF slightly worse (if at all). Improve our bullpen. Questionable but I don't see it being any worse, especially given the fact that team defense has improved. It wasn't flashy but it was the moves that needed to be made to improve the team. Plus it gives us great flexibility with contracts for next season.
  8. I have taken the bus to Miller Park and it is great. A cab from downtown would set you back at least $25, the bus is $2 (college student talking here). It runs frequently enough for it not to be an issue catching one and getting to the game on time. As far as option #2 you can take Bus Route #80 from downtown. It will probably take you about a half hour from downtown to General Mitchell. You would have to be on the bus by 5:30 or 6 pm, which should be do-able for sure. If you leave the game by 4:30 you get back to your hotel by 5 pm and pick up your bags and go. Like someone else said just pack everything up and have the hotel hold your bags. Hope your trip is great! If you need any ideas for places to see, eat at or anything else PM me.
  9. So if I got that at say 3:30 am (when I get off of work) what would one say my chances are for that being early enough to get some tickets.
  10. American History X 300
  11. On a side note has anyone done the Arctic Blast? How far in advance does one have to get in line? If I got there at 3 am Saturday would that be enough time?
  12. I had a friend who did Covance studies all the time even after college. All the testing is for stuff that has been governmentally approved. The worst part about it you are holed up in the place he whole time. But you can bring a laptop, cell phone etc. So its not like you re locked up or anything. If I had more time I would totally do it.
  13. I can do Wednesdays and maybe Thursdays. I also have two guys who would probably be in as well.
  14. Ah yes that totally explains why they have made a habit of performing well in critical situations in the postseason.
  15. As far as I know it helps, because it decreases your credit used to credit available ratio (which helps your score).
  16. Braun is a much more natural hitter than Bill Hall ever was/will be. Wherever Braun goes, he is going to hit. At least I think so. CF is the toughest OF position to play. If Carlos Lee and Barry Bonds can play LF I am sure Braun can adjust to it. If we ever want to be a team that competes for a championship we need to improve our defense. As some have said most of our young guys arent going anywhere so that means we need toput them in positions where their strengths can be utilized and their weaknesses masked when possible.
  17. I'm not sure why Dillon doesn't get any respect around here. His AAA numbers are actually as good as most of our prospects have been for the past few years. I know that AAA numbers dont always translate into MLB stats. The fact that he performed well since day one in the big leagues (with us at least) and his AAA stats over the past few years makes me want to at least give him the RH part of a platoon with Gabe Gross. He batted over .300, hit 20+ HR's, an OBP of .400+ had a an OPS of 1.000+ in '04, 05 and 07 (i can't find any stats for '06). He would get maybe 250 ABs and if he performs well he could spell guys on our IF and OF. I can see him taking the role of super sub ala Bill Hall. So that being said Gross and Dillon should be a platoon until LaPorta is ready in '09. We really need to improve our defense. the best way to do this is to put Braun in the OF with Hart (CF) and Gross/Dillon. Next get rid of Estrada for someone who is at first a defensive catcher. We have tons of bats in the lineup and if someone can play plus defense with an average bat I am more than OK with that. Our rotation should be Sheets Gallardo Villy Suppan Bush Suppan isnt going anywhere and Bush was our best starter from June - September. When used as a 5th starter he is much better than most 5th starters out there. Pen needs an overhaul but I think that will come from replacing some of our starters with young guys and swapping their roles Closer: Linebrink SU: quality FA veteran 7th inning guy: Vargas if he cant be moved (he touched the mid 90's when pitching out of the pen) MR: Parra LR: Cappy Lefty's: King and/or Shouse
  18. Thats just what happens. Season ticket holders buy playoff tickets in advance and then the teams send them out. I have tickets for the Brewers NLCS, NLDS and World Series games in my hands.
  19. Here is what I would like to see happen. Corey manning CF, Hall moving back to 3rd, Braun playing in LF and a platoon of Gross/Dillon in RF until LaPorta is ready to step in. This improves us at CF and 3B. Corey looks very good in CF when he has played out there this season. Now the whole thing would hinge on whether or not Braun can play LF, which is not a certainty. If he can play average D out there (hell if Caballo can do it) we should be alright. He has a cannon for an arm and good range. Honestly I think Braun will hit no matter where he goes. He is as natural of a hitter as I have seen in a long time. Billy yes probably struggled somewhat with the adjustment to the new position but he is a guess hitter and when he gueses wrong looks very bad at the plate. He has played 3B and can again. As long as he has a set position (which he has played in the past), I think he will be alright. As Russ said the defense needs to improve but I dont see many of the faces changing all that much. The young cheap talent is just too good here. I think that some players just need to have certain defensive attributes of their game accentuated.
  20. Man I hate Dane Cook, but that commercial gave me goosebumps.
  21. My religion is Brewish and my temple is Miller Park. I will never leave but there are times when I have no clue what the clergy is doing.
  22. Actually if our teams #1, #2 and #3 had performed they way other "playoff" teams rotations do, there would be no need for the #5 starter to eat a bunch of innings up. Cappy has been awful, Sheets has been hurt and Suppan hasn't pitched as deep into games as I had thought he would. After a rocky start Bush has pitched very well for a 4th starter. The big problem has been Sheets going down and Cappy being ineffective. Had those two performed up to expectations/not been hurt the bullpen would not be as taxed as it is and Vargas would not be under the microscope he is. He does what a 5th starter is supposed to do. Unfortunately because of other factors he is being asked to go above his natural limits as a player and fill the void others higher in the rotation have vacated.
  23. Right on. Thanks for the info guys.
  24. Ah. So if I am understanding correctly, it is not possible to see the Brewers take their batting practice except for possibly the last few minutes there.
