  1. He hasn't missed anywhere near as much time as Gamel, but Hart hasn't exactly been the healthiest guy the last few years.
  2. You can basically bring in anything that isn't alcoholic. The only thing I would buy at the park is beer or icecream. I always bring my own soda and usually bring in food as well. Usually Jimmy John's. I have brought in brats. I always bring in ketchup and onions when we go to dollar dog games.
  3. They had a couple pages on this in The Book. It basically said that your worst 2(or was it 3) pitchers should never hit. You piggy back our 2 worst starters with middle relievers and pinch hit for them when their spot comes up.
  4. That's interesting considering most people feel PNC park is one of the best.
  5. Gamel's numbers didn't look good but he certainly did. He has such a nice swing.
  6. Let's say Segura is a 4 WAR player next year. The difference between him and a replacement player is only 4 wins. Now you cut that down to 1/3 of a season and you are talking about 1.3 wins. I don't' think Segura will be quite that valuable next year so I see the difference between Segura and whomever we would pick up as pretty minimal over 2 months. It's not punting on next season before it even begins. Cody Ransom for example has been just a tick below average with the bat this year so 2 months of Ransom wouldn't hurt much and would have gained us Segura's age 30 season. Edit: Actually his year 29 season so one of his prime years.
  7. Sure we were top 10 but that was going over budget. We cannot keep up a top half of the league payroll year after year. No matter what we get for a local TV contract, the bigger markets will always get a bigger one. Attendance is nice but most of the money comes in form other sources.
  8. I am sure they could have found a SS for half the season. My concern is more that they are taking a short term win now approach as opposed to long term team building.
  9. Corey Hart was an All-Star. I don't think many people thought Lawrie was in the same class as Braun but even if he was "only" as good as Hart that would have given us 2 very good bats to build a lineup around for at least 6+ years.
  10. My preference would have been to leave him down till June of next year and see what Bianchi could do for the rest of the year but as long as we can buy out his first year of FA, not a bad idea. He's only 22. Looking forward to see what the kid can do though.
  11. I believe none of this even takes into account anybody drafted this year and if I am not mistaken we got 1-3 high ceiling guys. Not saying we should really count those guys before they play in the minors for us but the farm is definitely heading in the right direction. I wouldn't say overlooked just that making decisions short term based on attendance is a losing strategy.
  12. Ignore the backtocali posts in the comments. He got kicked off of the BrewCrewBall forms for being an ass. He isn't really even a Brewers fan. He just likes to bag on them. The meme over there for any prospect pitcher is they lack a third pitch.
  13. They are a strength now but are both past what is considered to be prime age for players. I would bet on them being good next year as well but 2014 and beyond I would expect at least some decline. Given that I don't think a 3-4 year contract for either would be a good idea. So unless Hart wants to go year to year you almost have to trade him or let him walk for nothing. Ramirez, I don't want him past the three years of his contract. Sure we can't get an equivalent player for him but if he isn't going to be around when we are expecting to compete we might as well trade him for something.* All opinions based on a reasonable return in trade.
  14. Sure why not. Pile more crap on this turd sandwich of a season. If they are going to get rid of either Izturis of Ransom I would rather see Bianchi play.
  15. RF Norichika Aoki CF Carlos Gomez LF Ryan Braun 3B Aramis Ramirez 1B Corey Hart 2B Rickie Weeks C Jonathan Lucroy SS Cody Ransom P Marco Estrada
  16. If wins mattered this season I would be upset that we have to play a night game on the road at the end of the series.
  17. You are right. Hart has about 2 WAR this season so he is about average at 1B. Or was WAR a counting stat? Hart is a top 10 1B right now who plays good defense. His bat is more valuable in RF but it isn't like his ba is bad at 1B.
  18. In support of the summer games. All drug Olympics.
  19. Patrick Swayze Chip N' Dales.
  20. Well ales need 65-70°F temperatures to ferment.(some Belgian strains of yeast like it even hotter) I imagine lager(45-50°F) lends itself better to the temperatures of the country so that is what ended up more prevalent. Heck they probably have to raise the temperature just to ferment lagers.
  21. According to Cot's 3 years/$36M (2012-14), plus 2015 mutual option signed by Milwaukee as a free agent 12/13/11 12:$6M, 13:$10M, 14:$16M, 15: mutual option ($4M buyout) $6M in salary deferred in 2014
  22. You are probably right, I was just saying I would pay to get a good player back. The money isn't the issue in my opinion, although having Ramirez' contract off the books would be nice, I am more interested in having a younger player who will be with us longer.
  23. Yeah but Weeks can't bunt.
  24. I would pay half his contract(maybe more) to get good prospect(s) back. Mostly because I don't think he will help much in 2014 and beyond.
  25. More like a fireman than a closer. Put your second best guy as closer and your best guy as the stopper.
