  1. 3 wins sounds about right. Most projections are conservative overall so they probably only had him at 4-5 wins to begin with.
  2. So that Hart dude doesn't stretch enough either I guess. Maybe that Braun dude too. He strained an oblique a couple years back. He is in terrible shape.
  3. I like that song but I think it starts off to fast. No buildup.
  4. Unless he has no other choice. Luis Cruz and Craig Counsel really don't represent good alternatives. If Counsel was about 7 years younger we would probably get a decent platoon at SS.
  5. He came into camp in good shape a few years back as well. Yup, he still sucked.
  6. Pitchers have to exert far more effort to every batter in this modern era than they did even just just 30 years ago. Exactly, I don't think Warren Spahn or any other pitcher who pitched more than 20 years ago is relevant when talking about modern day pitchers.
  7. TH did defend Betancourt. We already have a good reporter, McCalvy.
  8. Korn - Blind hands down. First song they played when I saw them in concert a little over a decade ago. Fantastic start to a concert. He runs out at "Are you ready?"
  9. Well we all shine on.
  10. You don't need no stinking pinky. Just ask Ronnie Lott.
  11. I think there is a huge misunderstanding in how defensive metrics work here. If he positioned himself well his range would look really good. The defender they are describing is JJ Hardy. Hardy grades out well in defensive metrics. Doesn't look flashy, positions himself well, good instincts. Fantastic. Braun has played on mostly mediocre or bad teams. He must not be a good player. In fact the Brewers had a losing record after his call-up in 2007. Must be his fault they missed the playoffs that year. Way to perpetuate the stereotype dude.
  12. Xmarks | Bookmark Sync and Search Firefox 4 and Google Chrome have built-in bookmarks syncs, but this one-ups them because it syncs across multiple browsers: Firefox, Chrome (and other Chromium-based browsers), IE, Safari (Mac & iOS), and Android. Dang, that would have been fantastic to have about 2 months ago. I had bookmarks for all the interesting stat sites I used and a few links to primer on SABR stats.
  13. Really? I thought the lowest payroll was about $40 or $50 million (?). I didn't think any team was getting more than $10 or $20 million in revenue sharing. I thought Mark A. said a couple years back the Brewers were getting something like $30-40m. This is the best I can find without digging further. NO exactly what I was looking for.
  14. Luis Cruz is 27 and has been in the minors for parts of 10 different seasons. This isn't a situation like Gamel where the guy is MLB ready but has nowhere to start. He has been a really bad hitter for a long long time.
  15. I always feel they missed what Fielder said under his breath, "Boras works for me"... and I told him to get me a bigger contract than Milwaukee can offer. Really "Boras works for me" tells us absolutely nothing. Fielder has said anything beyond the typical I like playing in Milwaukee stuff that every player says just before taking a huge contract to play elsewhere.
  16. That really isn't the case though. His splits in 2008-2010 suggest nothing like that. His best month is August and other than that they look up and down like any other player. Do we really want to count on a guy who plays poorly if he is unhappy. It isn't like just "the stats" don't like him. Scouts and fans also didn't like him either. He hits the trifecta for player suckage.
  17. We get it. You think Braun stinks at defense, but do you need to say something about it all the time? I know he is not great but you seem to have an unhealthy issue with his defense. There were parallels brought up between Weeks, who worked himself into a passable defender, and Braun, who seems to be getting worse since moving to an easier position despite obvious athletic ability. I didn't bring up Braun and his defense. I am unsure why you felt the need to call me out on it.
  18. Milwaukee still doesn't know how Gamel fits in. Lawrie as a 2B was a better fit than at any corner position. We only have one corner opening even next year. Unless McGehee, Braun, Hart or Gamel fall completely on their faces there wouldn't have been a corner opening until after 2013.
  19. Steam has Civ IV and V on sale this weekend. I bought Civ IV and 3 expansions for $7.50. Now I remember why I don't play Civ games anymore. Played for 9 hours straight just on the tutorial.
  20. Weeks unlike Braun actually improved his defense to average. At a much harder position no less.
  21. Gomez 6th would probably make the most sense since that would be a good place to leverage speed. You don't need the speed as much ahead of the top 5 guys. Again it probably makes little difference that far down in the order. The number of at bats is what seems to make the biggest difference. Weeks 5th and Gomez 1st would be like having Gomez pinch hit for Weeks for an entire month.
  22. I think players would probably be better off just admitting to steroid use if they are linked in any way to it even if they are clean instead of denying and denying everything.
  23. I really have no problem with that. Not ideal or optimized but probably as close to optimized as can be expected.
