  1. Leave Rogers in AAA most of the year next year. No reason to waste service time in a non-playoff year on guys who we can legitimately leave in the minors. Right now, Gamel is the only guy who we really can't leave in the minors next year unless he gets injured again.
  2. Even if we get the two best FA pitchers on the market(highly unlikely) we very likely wouldn't be a playoff team next year. That makes Fielder's only value to us pretty much what he can bring back in trade or we get in picks for him. Fielder isn't signing with us. Nor should we sign him to a ridiculous $25m/year contract.
  3. Yes, only 7 more till a Gamel start, maybe.
  4. He has 7 LOB so far, so close enough. Kind of. It is comical to think of a player getting left IN the lineup because of a slump. I think I read somewhere Kenneth is trying to get McGehee to 100 RBI before Gamel gets a start.
  5. I am hoping for an 8 RBI day for McGehee so we can see Gamel get a few starts.
  6. Leave them in the minors for the majority of next year. Rogers can build up his innings and be a starter in 2012. Jeffress can show he really has improved his control ans they can either build up his innings as a starter or have him work on refining his pitches as a reliever.
  7. So by Kenneth's plan we cut innings down for Rogers to make him a starter? How about we just leave these guys in the minors for a year to build up their innings?
  8. I would have no problem at all picking up Fielder's contract for 2011 if we got 2 young arms back. We have a surplus of money and it seems better to me to spend it on young pitching(in essence) than any of the available FA pitchers. The thing that makes it tough is Fielder doesn't currently have a contract for next year so we would have to wait until we have him under contract.
  9. I just wish he didn't completely suck at defense.
  10. We had a good year under Attanasio because the team was built up by moves made by the Seligs. All Attanasio has done is infuse the team with more money. We can't go for it every year like Attanasio has pushed for so far. Making moves like trading Fielder for long term young pitching this offseason and not wasting money on the FA pitching market this year will go a long way towards changing my opinion but so far we have had several offseasons where the focus was on competing the next year instead of the future. In my opinion, that directive comes from Attanasio. Even with the moves over the last offseason we were a low 80 win team talent wise. Of course every team makes mistakes. I am not criticizing any particular moves, just the overall philosophy. None of the moves last offseason should hurt us much in the future but none are going to help us either. Everything helping us at this point so far has been because of the MiLB system.
  11. That is almost a backhanded complement.
  12. That is almost a backhanded complement.
  13. I take it that you missed most of the 90's.Doesn't mean Attanasio is better, he has just spent more money.
  14. I'd like to add McGehee to that list as well.I would like to add Hart but that wouldn't make it true.
  15. Not sure how much he wants to be in Milwaukee right now. I hope he understands that there sill be a down year or two during his contract.
  16. Scientists are trying to start the robot apocalypse.
  17. For the Dancing Man lovers - Woodman's on the east side is all out. Staghorn is out in its place. So if you want some for the winter (and why not, it's got enough alcohol for a cold winter night) better go and find some. Dancing Man is supposed to be out through the end of October so I don't think there is a rush yet. Although at this point I would buy 2 when you only think you need one. Put the second in the basement.
  18. They shouldn't have to but you shouldn't have to lock your house or car either.
  19. I want an owner who realixes we are in a limited market and are going to have to give up a year now and then to rebuild. I don't think Attanasio is that guy.
  20. I am ready for a new owner.
  21. Many seem to think the Brewers can live without Fielder moving forward, assuming he's dealt for pitching and assuming that the offense won't take a drastic step backward while further assuming the pitching staff takes a big step forward (knowing/hoping that other moves would need to be made). The difference between Fielder and Gamel/Lawrie seems to be much less than the difference between whomever our worst starter is and the starter we could get for Fielder. Provided we get an above average starter I would think worst case scenario is that the talent is a wash. Even a league average starter would improve us by about 2 wins over the season. The other big thing we need to consider is when we are going to be a playoff team again. I think next year is highly doubtful so to me it makes little sense to have Fielder for next year. If we were talking about 2012 then maybe Fielder would be worth the few extra wins he provides. Seeing as how there is virtually no chance Fielder signs an extension his value to us is very small.
  22. Hoffman I will give you but the rest of those guys didn't pitch enough to make much impact good or bad. Even if all those guys are healthy and pitched to mildly optimistic expectations we were still a low 80 win team.
  23. I don't think we are to far from contending if we get a good pitcher back for Fielder. I think we will be much better in 2012 than 2011 and that is the year we should shoot for while looking at trades. If we keep Fielder I think we are much further from contending than if we trade him.
  24. How does our defense improve more than marginally if we bring back all the same guys? Hart, Braun, McGehee and Fielder are all poor defenders with little hope of improving. I would be less surprised to see our defense decline with those 4 than improve. Escobar should improve and Lucroy/Kottaras is probably better than Zaun/Kottaras but catcher defense has minimal impact on balls in play and that is what our defense really sucks at. Under the conditions set up in the lead we don't have Fielder on our team. Any player of value that we do have on our team would have to be traded to get pitching. If we give up anybody of value for Fielder, we don't get enough pitching to be competitive and Fielder is nowhere near the upgrade two good pitchers would be. Weeks, Hart or anybody else for Fielder is a wash or a minimal upgrade. We don't have a moderately talented team. We have an above average offense and one of the worst rotations in baseball. Given a choice, I would only keep GAllardo and Wolf of the current rotation and maybe Capuano. In reality, we need at least 2 good pitchers to get good enough to compete in our division. We don't need to get better than the Reds. We need to get better than the Reds, Cardinals, and Astros. The team as built right now is not a playoff team. They are about a 75-85 win team at each end of the luck spectrum. We could keep Fielder and sign a couple FA pitchers and go for it next year(Unfortunately I wouldn't be shocked if this happened, disappointed, not shocked. Attanasio strikes me as a guy who doesn't want to rebuild) or we could trade Fielder for a pitcher or 2 that would maybe help next year but help us by 2012 to supplement our top prospects who should be ready by then. Basically rolling the dice on a mid 80's win team for next year or going for a 90 win team in 2012. Our rotation in 2012 is shaping up to be Gallardo, Wolf, Odorizzi, and maybe Rogers/Jeffress. That isn't to bad especially if we can supplement that with a good pitcher or 2 brought back in trade. Fielder vs Gamel/Lawrie is a much smaller difference than Parra/Narveson vs pitcher brought back in Fielder trade.
  25. Maybe he just needed to get fully "stretched out" as a starter in order to hit his stride. It took him 3+ months of starting to get stretched out? So does that mean he will be ready sometime in June next year?
