  1. If by pedestrian you mean above average, then I agree. Even with all those guys hitting poorly we were one of the best offensive teams in the NL. We were way more hurt by 4 of our 5 starters and almost every single starting pitching replacement pitching WAY below expectations.
  2. We are one really bad hitter short of that group.
  3. Yes there were a couple guys who outplayed expectations but mostly they were part time players. The guys who badly underperformed were full time players.
  4. He intentionally walked 2 guys in the same inning in the August 11th game they mention.
  5. He wasn't hurt in 08 though and it can be easily argued that the should have played more in 08.
  6. I would like to know how well Brewers games stream over the PS3. I have been contemplating having my brother-in-law build a computer for me just to record TV instead of using TiVo. If I can get most TV over the internet with a PS3, I could probably talk my wife into dropping cable. Of course the Netflix streaming was pretty poor quality sometimes.
  7. with their starting second baseman missing for the majority of the season. To be truthful we probably got better than expected production out of our 2B spot in 2009 so Weeks going down didn't hurt as much as it might have. Has anybody seen team projections for 2010 yet? I would think it may be a bit premature, but it may give some idea of where we currently sit.
  8. Can you watch new episodes of Dexter online?
  9. I am not sure Hardy needed 2-3 days at a time but I would say at least a day a week plus an extra day now and then. I don't like Macha either but I would hardly put it all on his shoulders. The communication really does seem lacking. I just disagree Hardy should have been brought back up when he was. I would still prefer 140 games of Hardy over 162 games of Escobar.
  10. The fact that he whined that he needed more rest probably expidited his trip to AAA. JJ probably did need more rest. He has had shoulder and back problems for a few years now. I don't think it is a stretch at all to say he might have needed a few more days off. He didn't whine about it either. He said he probably should have talked to Macha about more days off. The way Jj was handled by the Brewers last year was crappy. Well within their rights but still crappy. If they had left him down at least till the end of the AAA season I wouldn't say that but they left him down just long enough to get another year out of him.
  11. Probably moving him at a time when they think nobody will claim him while clearing a spot in case they see somebody else trying to sneak a good player through.
  12. The Cardinals and Brewers were both projected with similar records before the 2009 season. Our team is not as good as it was then and the Cardinals are a little better. I think this move puts us in 3rd place in the division. Cubs are probably still the best, but not by a large margin anymore. Of course all 3 teams are so close that good luck or a few career years from some players along with bad years from the Cubs and Cardinals an we could still win the division.
  13. Will Ferrell's "act" is starting to grow old for me, but i still think he's funny. Will Ferrell is better regulated to a supporting role. I am not a big fan of most of the movies where he is the main character. I did like Stranger Than Fiction though.
  14. Anybody still think we are in the same size market salary wise as the Cardinals?
  15. Nevermind, I guess all he can do is hit the ball hard sometimes.
  16. To bad he can't get on base worth a darn or he might have been a good signing.
  17. I agree that we should groom Escobar and Gomez for hitting in the #1 and #2 spots in the order. We can do that by switching them every other day in the 9th spot in the order. Your idea to try and make the playoffs is to bat our worst 2 hitters #1 and #2. I can't stress enough how bad that idea is. You also want the bottom of the order to look strong. Why would we want to make the bottom of the order look strong instead of the top of the order when the top of the order gets way more at bats. The moves you suggest would give our 2 worst hitter 200 extra at bats over the course of the season. That is a terrible idea.
  18. To be fair the Brewers dont have a perfect leadoff guy so why not go with the fast guy who can hit? Escobar only fits half your description. He is fast.
  19. Mmmmm Ommegang. Their Abbey Ale really hits you at 8.5 ABV. It's just so good when it hits your lips. I really need a gyro.
  20. Wasn't this the guy who had his agent make a big stink abut him still being in the minors part way through the year?
  21. Escobar could steal 50 bases and still be a really terrible leadoff hitter because he doesn't get on base. He is not expected to get on base with any consistency anytime soon. It makes zero sense to give a guy like that 100 extra PA(almost a month of extra PA). Only Dusty Baker would think that is a good idea. I hated Kendall at the top of the lineup the few times Macha did it, but at least Kendal could carry an average OBP. A month in if Escobar shows he can, I may relent a bit. As of now, he is projected around a .325 OBP. Right now, he is probably going to put up the 7th best OBP amongst regular starters with little in the way of SLG to make up for his weak OBP. His value is mostly in his glove.
  22. Cameron in Chicago would have been a nightmare. Byrd looks pretty average in CF defensively. Flat out hilarious, love the flatlander pun intended or not.
  23. Sorry, I can't help you on that. I will say that unless you really like videogames, it probably doesn't pay to buy a new console. They have priced themselves to high for people who only buy 2-3 games a year. I have to admit if it came down to giving up the Brewers or videogames, it would be bye bye Brewers.(mmmm Ommegang)
  24. I even have Metroid Prime Corruption which I have yet to finish 2 years later. I love Metroid. I hate to say it because I love Nintendo, but they really do aim for a different demographic than the other 2. The Wii is a cool cool experiment and not much more at this point. The Wii rarely gets played at my house. I think we get more mileage out of our DS's. Bought my oldest Chrono Trigger for Christmas. I think I played it more than he has. I think when I buy a PS3 it will be when I get a HDTV and get a deal where they throw in a PS3 with purchase. Best Buy as been doing that the last couple years around December. HDTV + PS3 for around $1000. Amazon has had some good videogame deals for the last few months. This console generation has sucked until recently for finding deals. $10 towards a future videogame purchase with some preorders, $3-5 off normal prices even at launch(doesn't sound like much, but it has been rare to find games below their suggested MSRP since online shopping became more popular), and I even came across DA:O for $45 a month after launch.
  25. Yes PS3 has some really good exclusives and I wouldn't tell somebody not to buy one if they like the games. None of them appeal to me personally though other than the Show. I would even recommend a PS3 if you mainly play sports games. It's just not for me and I have to admit I am a little leery about dropping $300+ after buying a Wii and not really playing it much.
