  1. I think you need to buy a ticket to redeem the vouchers. I have never used the vouchers with the Kid's Club.
  2. I am not familiar with the Padres farm system, but I don't think they really have to trade Peavy. It seems pretty similar to the Sheets situation with the Brewers when they were bad. People kept saying we had to trade Sheets but we kept him around and he helped us make the playoffs. Obviously Peavy is a little older.
  3. As to Hall being off the line, I didn't see that play but its important to remember defensive positioning is based upon the pitcher pitching a hitter a certain way. If the pitcher misses his spots the defense will be out of position. Hall was playing almost on the edge of the grass. If he is a couple steps back, I think he at least gets a glove on the ball. As it was, he just missed it.
  4. Well #2 lasted until my brother in law sent me a text message last night. I will have to avoid text messages as well I guess. Have to send out an E-mail asking all family members not to divulge game information without spoiler warnings. Now I have to start all over.
  5. I was waiting for Pedro to start this thread like he did last year, but I guess I will give it a go. 1. I will give Macha a fair chance as the Brewers manager even though I was disgusted with the timing of the Yost firing and the manager hiring process. 2. I will go into "Baseball blackout" from the start of every televised Brewers game until I have watched it on TiVo. No baseball on the internet(including BF.net), ESPN or anything else that may tip me off to the result of the game. 3. I will eat grilled meat on a weekly basis with family and friends baring unsafe weather like a tornado. Number 2 is going to be tough.
  6. I would have to guess 25-30 is reasonable. I think the only way they wouldn't reach 25 is because of an injury or the bullpen blowing a lot of leads.
  7. Thanks for the tip. I am heading down to Kohl's in East Town right now. Edit: Picked up 3 of the Therma Base jackets.(myself, son, brother) Didn't intend to pick up any. The new logo ones were $24 and the ball and glove were $48. The new logo ones were pretty picked over in East Town. They had most of their sweatshirts and jackets 60-80% off. Not much else was on sale.
  8. Since I'm not convinced that range carries equal value to fielding Here is where most people disagree with you. An out is an out in my opinion. Two players making the same number of outs with the same chances should be equal. If Hall boots an easy one that most players make that should be equal to Hall making a tough play most players can't make. at the very least it's reasonable to question his poor fielding habits. I agree with this. He does have bad habits, but like Weeks has the range to make extra plays many players cannot. That is why I liked Weeks better at 2B than Durham. Weeks missed easy plays that Durham would have made, but Durham missed plays that relied on range that Weeks makes easily. Hall shows up around average in other metrics. Most people looking at Hall as a defender are not just looking at UZR. There is also Dewan's plus/minus system which Hall does well in. I can't believe I have to defend Bill Hall and his defense.
  9. In his final 14 starts after the trade he went 3-7 with a 3.58 ERA in 81+ innings. I am not sure we should expect any pitcher other than Gallardo to have an ERA in that range. Bush and Parra are probably around 4.00 ERA pitchers.
  10. Usually I take Opening Day off as it is a major holiday. Instead I decided to take a different day off and go to a T-Rats game with my family.
  11. or we can do nothing. We can leave Escobar in AAA until the end of the 2010 season when JJ can leave as a free agent. Nothing has to be done, nobody has to go.
  12. It was time for Hardy to be in the bigs. He was and is better defensive player and last two years is showing that he has a better stick than Mr Hall. Very few players come in to the bigs and start mashing or play gold glove D. Melvin did what was best for the player and the teams's present and future that year. Hardy was hurt for all but 1 - 1 1/2 months the previous year. He may have been defensively ready, but it is 100% obvious that his bat was not. Given that we were not playing for anything and likely to be terrible as a team that year, we basically wasted a whole year of Hardy. I would trade his 2005 season for his 2011 season in a heartbeat.
  13. He's pretty much just TGJ, except with a different name.
  14. Get TiVo or some other DVR. That way you can record shows they like and have them available when you want to do something like clean or cook or just relax for a bit. You are also not a slave to the TV schedule.
  15. I think you can turn down work without hurting your unemployment chances if you are offered a job with lower pay than you were making. I would double check on that since I have no personal experience in unemployment, yet.
  16. Yeah let your kids explore. It is fun to come home to your little one making toast in the living room in the middle of the night or cracking a dozen eggs into the blender. Although I am not sure why he had the soy sauce out for the toast. As long as they don't get hurt, it's all good. Just a mess to clean up.
  17. Thinking back, we probably would have been better off with a year of Hall at SS instead of bringing up Hardy who was hurt most of the previous year.
  18. That is what he said. No platoon. This is the second time in 2 days I agree with Briggs. I think the apocalypse is coming.
  19. With the addition of so many "beer" bars in the milwaukee area, I was wondering if anyone was interested in doing a "Beer thread bar crawl" at some point. It would be cool if we could do it some day there was a game on. I would definitely be willing to organize it. Wish you had come up with that idea 5 years ago, before the kids and marriage. sorry if tone is the wrong word - I am far from a beer expert Don't worry. Many of us can't describe a beer beyond good/bad. Myself included. I may have to give the Berghoff beers another try. My wife and I thought they were watered down versions of good beer last time we tried some. Much like many of Lienenkugel's beer.
  20. I would prefer Nelson as a platoon with Hart over Duffy.
  21. Please no Gamel. I would hate to waste a year of service time for a platoon player. Unfortunately if Hall can't hit RHP this might be our best option. Hopefully Hall hits RHP this year.
  22. TGJ seems to be a really nice guy. I hope he gets a better chance with a different team.
  23. 1. Weeks 2. Fielder (or Braun) 3. Hardy (or Hart) 4. Braun (or Fielder) 5. Hart (or Hardy) 6. Cameron 7. Hall 8. Pitcher 9. Kendall Look on the first page and you will see that Ennder and I liked this almost exact lineup. I would take Fielder 2 instead of Braun because of OBP. Hardy or Hart is a push since I think they are pretty similar hitters. Edit: Part of the reasoning for Weeks batting leadoff over the other 2 is that he has the highest BA-OBP split meaning he gets on base without hits more often than the other 2. The leadoff spot is where the difference between getting on base with a single, HBP or walk makes the least difference because the leadoff hitter bats the most often with the bases empty. Like 10% more often than in any other spot in the order. Link
  24. I don't think The Muscle would've picked Milwaukee over Seattle if the money was equal. We really couldn't match the playing time he'll get. I agree with this. My hope is that Hall goes out and proves he can still hit RHP so the point becomes moot(not mute). If Hall doesn't hit RHP then we are going to be missing Branyan and watching Counsell as the big part of the 3B platoon. ugh
  25. I think somebody might have tried this April Fools joke last year or at some other time. Otherwise you might have had me Hawing.
