  1. Ennder, I think you forgot to put some wins back in for Gallardo.
  2. I don't understand the fascination with bacon. I think bacon tastes terrible.
  3. Parra who wore down badly and practically had to be shut down towards the end of last season Parra pitched about as many innings as he was expected to in 2008 and wore down at almost the exact point where many thought he would from the start of the season. The only surprising thing was that management didn't make any move to save Parra for the end of the season. Parra pitched approx 132 innings in 2007 which was the most since his 139 in 2003. Young pitchers are expected to increase their innings by 25-30 each year. That would have put Parra at 162 at most last year and close to 200 in 2009. Gagne and Turnbow (especially towards the end) lost this team games that would have made differences along the way. Since we don't have them any more there are a couple games we pick up right there.
  4. If Lecroy is defensively ready I don't think he would be much of a drop in production from Kendall on offense.
  5. If I never had to leave the house the heavy snowfall wouldn't bother me. Unfortunately to be a productive member of society I have to drive to a job and driving home at 2am while my car plows snows really sucks. Cold, no problem. Just keep the roads clean. If they could somehow keep the snow to 3 or less inches at a time that would be great.
  6. Parra gets 170 which would be a slight improvement over last year where he really looked wore down There were a lot of people who expected Parra would wear down and wanted to shift him to the pen in July so we would have him for the stretch run and the playoffs. I see no reason he shouldn't be expected to come close to 200 innings as long as he gets a little more efficient in his starts and does not get injured. I think we could use a couple more pitchers for depth. I don't think we need a top of the line starter, but 2 guys around Bush's quality or better would be great. I thought we were around an 85 win team at the start of the year last year and played a little better than our talent to get to 90 wins. I think we are about an 85 win team as of right now with no depth at starting pitching in case of injury and an injury to a starting pitcher is going to happen.
  7. We retain all of our young hitters, none of which had what you would term a "career year" last year (maybe Braun and he could repeat), and several of which underperformed. Braun wasn't even as good in 2008 as he was in 2007. I think 2008 is worst case scenario(baring injury) for what to expect from Braun. I hope future deals with the Yankees are few and far between. The rumors surrounding this deal are ridiculous if what Melvin says is true. He had called me on an idea, and I got back to him with another idea, and we haven't heard from each other since. - Melvin Link
  8. I have to say that I have gotten the latest movies pretty quickly. Within the first week of release. Mailing out a movie a day and putting upcoming releases at the top of your list helps a lot.
  9. I have had it off an on for several years. I like it quite a bit and use it mostly t watch TV shows on DVD. I quit my subscription during the baseball season since I don't have enough time to watch anything other than the daily baseball game during the week. I have the 3 at a time subscription and try to get at least 4 a week. I don't fel I get my money's worth if I get fewer than that.
  10. I am not sure being an average hitter is good enough to win a GG.
  11. I agree with you that JJ is average to slightly above, but like TLB said, JJ shows up at the top of most defensive metrics for 2008. I think he was hurt by playing next to Braun and still had a gimpy ankle in 2007. I think JJ has a little below average range and a strong accurate arm. The metrics seem to disagree.
  12. Hardy is considered to be a very good defensive SS. If he wasn't, I, and I am sure the organization, would want to move him to 3B and make room for Escobar. I don't think anybody really dislikes Escobar, it's just that he plays behind one of our best defenders who is a good hitter. The defensive upgrade seems minimal with what looks to be a big falloff in offense. If he has a good year, or half year at AAA then we could probably trade JJ and not lose much with Escobar. He has shown improvement, but I think he still needs to show he can hit AAA pitching before coming up to the big club.
  13. I would only trade Escobar if JJ signed a 4-5 year contract this off season. If we had to trade one I would trade JJ since he is going to be gone in a couple years. Right now I wouldn't trade either.
  14. Braun or Gallardo. They are the only current Brewers likely to be around more than the next 4 years. After which time it would violate fan law to wear a shirt or jersey with a player's name on it that no longer plays for the team.
  15. Villanueva -0.36 WPA Bush -1.00 WPA Parra -.076 WPA Suppan -1.34 WPA Gagne -0.77 WPA Torres 1.13 WPA I hate using WPA because it is dependent on when a guy pitches. I think it is misleading. A couple blow up innings at the wrong time throw everything off.
  16. I still doubt he would be much more than a long reliever at any point this year.
  17. I don't think those states like Texas salt their roads when it snows which would make it that much worse.
  18. I am sure we could get a decent pitcher from somebody for Cameron.
  19. That would probably give us almost an extra year of Gamel although I think he would almost certainly end up as a super 2 since he has about a month of service time already. Hall/Lamb won't be a terrible 3B platoon. Lamb would be one of our better hitters against LHP, OBP wise anyway.
  20. I generally wouldn't look at just one season if I am going to look at vs LHP/RHP splits. Gets to be to few at bats to tell much. At the very least I would look at the last 3 years. Careeer vs RHP Lamb .281/.336/.422/.758 Brnayan .234/.335/.491/.826 Edit:Southpaw is right. I jumped down to his home split for the OPS. My mistake.
  21. I think most defensive metrics had Branyan around average and Lamb as very poor. Lamb only has an OBP of .336 against right handers. We would have been much better off with Branyan. Since he is not available I guess Lamb wouldn't be to bad an option hitting 2nd against RHP. Counsell wouldn't be a bad option as a backup middle infielder as long as he is getting no more than a start every other week.
  22. Maybe because the teams are anticipating a drop in revenues and attendance. Like other have said, the Brewers more than likely operate independently of the rest of Mark's businesses.
  23. I hope they sign him right after Corey Patterson.
  24. Well so much for 1st place. Lasted about as long as I thought it would. I can't wait for the 2nd half of the season to start.
  25. Every time the sign somebody it is one more prospect they don't have to call up to fill a spot or is available to trade for more prospects.
