  1. There were no reports of the Brewers having interest in Jorge Julio until he was signed either.
  2. But Span is left handed and Escobar can play SS.
  3. Jimmy John's #10 with sprouts and extra mayo.
  4. My worst fast food experience was eating at a McDonalds in Cancun. The burger was dry and tasted like somebody used it to wipe their butt. Other than that I haven't really had any fast food I didn't like. Of course I rarely eat fast food and when I do it is usually pretty basic.
  5. I will third the Eneloops. I use them for my 360 and Wii controllers. I will go a couple weeks without having to charge batteries. The Energizer rechargeable batteries I had to use within a couple days of charging or they would lose their charge.
  6. I wouldn't mind 2 with a option on a third or even 3. 3 would make me a little nervous though.
  7. I think the Brewers are probably run as a separate organization with none of Mark A. or the rest of the ownership groups' money going into the team and almost all the profit going back into the organization. I do think the owners get money from the Brewers whether or not the Brewers actually turn a profit. My guess is that Mark A. and the rest of the ownership group gave themselves bogus titles and a yearly salary to go with them with a possible bonus if the team turns a profit.
  8. Now my fear is that Gamel comes up and uses a year of service time as a platoon player. He is a marginal player at best but well liked on this site. He is marginal if used as an every day player. As the left handed half of a platoon he would put up all-star numbers. I really hope this was a case of Branyan seeing this as a chance at more playing time more than Doug not wanting him back.
  9. There is no way to know that Fielder is going to win his case before we know how much was offered on either side.
  10. CNET.com is a good site to do some research on. I bought separate software to edit photos with because the software that came with my camera was really bad. I would also look on CNET(or Consumer Reports if you have a subscription to there) to see what they have to say about the software that comes with the camera you are interested in. Link I bought my camera 4-5 years ago so it is really outdated. I would reccomend getting a camera that can use AA bateries just in case your batteries go dead.
  11. You may not care right now, but it is nice to have a really good optical(not digital) zoom. I have 3x zoom and it does almost nothing. If I was to buy another digital camera I would go at least 12x optical zoom.
  12. I would say that Dunn would be an offensive upgrade over Fielder. I think Hardy is expendable as well if he is not willing to accept a 4-5 year deal. I really am not to high on Escobar either, but if Hardy isn't going to stick around longer than he has to then we are likely to see Escobar at some point. We might as well get something more than a couple picks(if we are lucky) for Hardy. It would make us better for 2010 instead of the comp picks that might be ready in 2013 best case scenario(2 full years in minors) more likely 2014+. Thinking about it, those possible comp picks are way a long ways from being MLB ready. Hardy comp picks 2011 draft Fielder comp picks 2012 draft
  13. Unfortunately Fielder negates much of his value with his terrible defense at 1B. There is a good chance we could be better overall with a decent defensive 1B even if he won't put up the same offensive numbers as Prince. If we can get a good package for Fielder, it would make up better in the long run, but hurt us next year because I don't feel we have a decent replacement at 1B ready right now. As for seeing if Gamel can hack first base. I hope the Brewers are done with this model of wasting players arbitration years hoping young players can hack it instead of letting them get the propper training in the minors and bringing them up after the player shows he is ready. I guess I should have been clearer that by "grooming Gamel to play 1B in 2010" I meat in AAA.
  14. What is their actual value though? I don't like the save stat either, but I also don't like giving extra value based on a manager's opinion.
  15. Yes we are an actual MLB club, but we can't pretend that we have unlimited means.
  16. If we don't get either CC or Sheets to come back, I think we can still field a pretty good team without adding a good starting pitcher. That relies on Hart, Braun, Weeks, and Fielder all improving on their 2008 season. Not asking much i my opinion. However, we are going to have to either consider trading or losing Fielder in the near future. Trading him this off season and grooming Gamel to play 1B in 2010 might make us better in 2010 than keeping Fielder. I this scenario we would have to take a small step back in 2009. My preference would be to offer JJ 4-5 year deal and if he turns it down trade him. Stepping back in 2009 is only a mistake if you don't do something that will improve the team long term.
  17. I think the fans would see it as a disaster to take a step back, but that is kind of hard not to do when you have limited means. The best thing for the long term future of the Brewers might be one bad year in 2009 to stock up on talent for the future.
  18. We need to determine what we want to do at second, short and third and that doesn't even take into account for potentially trading away and replacing 2 other positions We have Weeks at 2B and Hardy at SS. 3B is our only hole. I don't see the need to worry about positions that might or might not open up because of a trade.
  19. That is only true of players not eligible for free agency. We can offer Gagne anything we want. Link The club's salary offer to a player under its control (pre-free agency players) may not be less than 80% of the player's salary and performance bonuses the previous year or less than 70% of his salary and performance bonuses from 2 years earlier. (Exception: If a player won an arbitration award the previous year increasing his salary 50% or more, the 80% requirement does not apply.) The 80% rule does not apply to free agents who are offered arbitration. Link
  20. I personally would offer arbitration to all 4. Like you said CC is a no brainier to get a multi-year contract somewhere. Sheets coming back on a one year deal would be a pretty ideal situation in my opinion. I still think he will get a pretty good contract somewhere. I am not sure if we want Shouse back, but getting him on a one year deal doesn't hurt much. We can always cut him in spring training if we think Stetter and Swindle are going to be better or don't want to pay the money. Yeah I know that would be a crappy thing to do. The only real tough one is Gagne. My fear is he would get something around $7M+ per year. If I was more confident he would get around $4M a year I think it would be a good deal even if he did accept Arby's. I think CC, Shests and Shouse get offered arbitration and they don't offer Gagne. Second, Gagne would be paid quite a bit less than he was in '08, and may well have better results I think there is a good chance Gagne may have better results. I am not convinced he will get paid quite a bit less though.
  21. You mean like ERA? I think it will tell you about results, but not talent.
  22. Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't WPA be more a function of when a pitcher pitched as much as if not more than how well they pitched?
  23. The silence on the Sheets' front is almost deafening. I don't know. It isn't like we have heard anything from anybody. It was like pulling teeth just to get a minimal response out of CC.
  24. Ken Rosenthal seems to think there is a good chance we don't even offer Sheets arbitration. I think not offering arbitration to Sheets would be a huge mistake.
  25. Hinske is an interesting alternative to Branyan. I wouldn't mind Edmonds as our 4th outfielder, but I don't like to go much over $4M for a bench player. Still don't think Cabrera as a replacement for Cameron is a good idea.
