  1. I don't think Teixeira is a realistic option. We would probably have to give up our first round pick. He is a Boras client and likely to get crazy money. Other than that, I like him.
  2. I think we should go with all '92 Brewers as coaches. Move into a new decade.
  3. Almost every player underperformed vs their 3 year average(2005-2007). In many cases that is their whole career so we really don't know what kind of talent we are really dealing with. Braun for example, there was almost no way he was going to match last year. Most were within 30 points of their 2005-2007 OPS. Given their ages though we should have expected more than just Hardy to show improvement. Except Braun of course since his rookie year was off the charts. OPS vs 2005-2007 Feilder -.029 Weeks -.029 Hardy +.029 Hall -.097 Braun -.050 Cameron +.024 Hart -.056 Kendall -.009
  4. So how did we do verses the "professional" projection systems.
  5. I think that inning started with 3 lefties unless I am mistaken. Edit: Nope, 2 lefties and a switchy.
  6. Of course it has to be a baseball guy or the players will not respect him. That doesn't make it right. The players also think flipping them in the order will make them better hitters.
  7. Big Game Pitcher should be reserved for retired players who played well in the postseason.
  8. I still don't see where in that article Svuem says anything about abandoning small ball. It might be implied, but it seemed to me he was talking around the issue. This quote in particular seems to indicate he prefers small ball. "Teams that have done it in the past, it's a very difficult way to score runs. It's an easy way, don't get me wrong, with one swing of the bat you've scored a run. But, on the other hand, you get 600 plate appearances and a prolific home-run hitter only hits 35. That's 565 at-bats that they don't."
  9. Doesn't matter who they hire. The guy will do some things well and others pretty poorly. Hire some guy of fthe street and give him a stack of spreadsheets to use in game and we would probably be better off. I am sure it will be a "baseball guy."
  10. The stuff obsessedwithbrewcrew is talking about is all over the other threads. There are several threads about how we need to make over either the offense or defense on a 90 win team. In many cases people are talking about huge overhauls. I guess only some people are allowed to vent.
  11. Teixeira is a Boras player so I don't know how realistic a deal with him is. If I had to guess I would say he is also a Type A free agent so we would also have to give up or 1st round pick.
  12. A 1B who is a better defender and a good pitcher may be enough to make up for whatever Fielder adds with his bat. Depends on how much you think his defense subtracts form his overall value. I think a good 1B would add a lot since we have other poor defenders on our infield.
  13. I would much rather have JJ, but if he isn't willing to sign a long term contract I think we would be better off trading him. Maybe not this off season but next year.
  14. 3 wins difference over 200 innings.
  15. This sounds eerily similar to the "we can't win with average pitchers in our rotation" line we heard a lot last off season.
  16. Please add "innings eater" to the list also.
  17. Lamb might be half the solution at 3B. Durham, I am not sure how he would fit in. If he can play somewhere other than at 2B I would keep him. At this point he seems to only be able to play 2-3 times a week.
  18. I think Gallardo should spend time in the bullpen to keep his innings down a bit through the season. Of course I thought the same of Parra this year and they decided to run him into the ground.
  19. I think JJ turning his season around in June had more to do with getting his left shoulder healthy than anything else.
  20. Can we also outlaw referring to pitchers as "winners?" How about "playing the game the right way?"
  21. I dont' expect major changes over the offseason or much reason to make any. I think the biggest change may end up being a position player traded for pitching. Other than that 3B is the only real need for next year. Of course if something better comes around I say make the change. I think our offense will be okay with no major changes.
  22. Not sure about you, but I am looking at a bunch of young players who produced under expectations. All we lose is a starting pitcher since Gallardo should almost equal Sheets over a full season. A slight increase(not much to ask) from our young position players and we more than make up for the loss of CC.
  23. I would have rather had Durham out there as well, but I think Counsell's range made one play that Durham wouldn't have gotten to.
  24. Adios muchachos.
  25. I always thought Braun was scruffy looking.
