  1. The batting AVG and OBP are a little low, but the average CF doesn't SLG .481. More like .420, this year anyway.
  2. My dad had searing pain in the left side of his head. I believe they took him to the hospital in an ambulance. He was discharged the same day and given blood thinners. By the time he got home(20 minute drive) his right foot had gone numb so my brother took him back. They checked him into the hospital and transferred him to a larger hospital because his doctor was out of that hospital. This all started on a Tuesday. Anyway, on Friday my father has an aortic dissection. (tear in the wall of the aorta, fatal within minutes) Luckily he was at a hospital that does heart surgery and the heart surgeon was right there. He had been in the hospital for 3 days and they didn't find anything. I am not positive that there was any way to detect it. I am not trying to say that ER doctors or doctors in general are hacks or anything like that. They make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes can be fatal. Sorry to hijack your thread Brian. I was just giving a personal example of how inexact diagnosing things with the human body can be.
  3. 23,478 on April 22nd is the lowest total for one game. I count 10 games under 30,000 for the year.
  4. He can do the same at SS and he still has poor range. I just see no difference between the 2 positions than a shorter throw to 1B.
  5. How much deeper can a 2B play than a SS? They both have to stay close enough to 2B to make plays there.
  6. Shawn Spencer and Burton Guster
  7. After reading this thread and what happened to my dad last summer(he's okay now), I get the feeling that ER doctors are not real good at diagnosing things. I am sure part of that is dealing with so many people coming off the street for aches and pains that when somebody has a real problem it is hard to tell the difference. I have to agree that doctors have a difficult job and studying the human body isn't an exact science.
  8. I think they should institute it right away.
  9. I seem to remember one of the things being thrown out was that "Bush can only go 5 innings." Which was of course not true at all. He went deeper into games than "innings eater" Suppan. I also remember people talking about Bush's good periferals not matching his actual results.
  10. I don't remember if this was the thread, but here is more evidence of the 360 price drop.
  11. I agree the enforcement should be uniform. All should be discouraged from getting up from their seats. People will still get up, but there isn't even an effort to keep people in their seats. They all treat it like watching TV at home. The etiquette needs to start somewhere. The logical place would be with the ushers. Maybe an announcement at the start of games to go along with the announcement to look out for flying objects. There is a whole laissez-faire attitude that just drives me nuts.
  12. Like the others have said those arent' the people I have problem with most of the time. I have heard that they really discourage people from getting up during innings at Turner Field in Atlanta. If you don't want to watch the game, fine don't. Just don't get up and disturb other people from their enjoyment of the game. I am not talking about standing up and cheering during the game either. I don't like the cursing either, but I am not going to get to upset about that. I just tell my kids not to repeat those words.
  13. I think the ushers should be more strict with keeping people in their seats during innings.
  14. There tend to be fewer of those opportunities for the leadoff guy than other places in the lineup so Weeks leading off is a good spot for his large BA/OBP split.
  15. I don't think Gamel in the outfield is a good idea until they give him a shot to fail at 3B. I think 3B and SP are by far our most pressing issues for next year(I assume Sheets and Sabathia are gone). Pick up Cameron's option and leave Gamel at 3rd.
  16. After going off topic in the 2B thread I thought somebody should start an outfield thread. 1. Pick up Cameron's option. He has been very good this year both on offense and defense. I doubt we could find similar production without committing to a multi-year contract for more money. 2. Swap Braun and Hart. I thought Hart had a good arm in RF, but I am not so sure. 3. Try to resign Kapler. I think he would make a good back-up if we can get him to stay. 4. Look for a LH outfielder to come off the bench. Doesn't have to be able to play CF because we could move Hart to play there in a pinch.
  17. I know blue is sarcasm, but just so everybody knows Braun .300/.340/.589/.928 Cameron .244/.333/.506/.839 Hart .287/.322/.499/.821 Sorry for going so far off topic.
  18. I have to agree that 3B is more of a concern than 2B. Hall has been worse at the plate and doesn't exactly play good defense either. I think it would be best for Hall to go back to being a supersub. I also hope they pick up Cameron's option if for no other reason than it keeps slappy jr. out of our starting lineup. It has been really nice to see what a real CF looks like. That is even ignoring the fact that he has outproduced Hart so far this year. I think our outfield is pretty good defensivly and offensivly.
  19. After 2004 we still get people who use W-L record to argue for or against pitchers. After having Weeks and Estrada on the same team in the same year we still have people who think a player with a higher BA is better without looking at OBP.
  20. Sombreros are much more fun to watch when it is the other team.
  21. Why? Weeks is expected to be better and has been better than Durham since the start of July. Durham will probably have better stats than Weeks at the end of the year, but Weeks will put up better stats than Durham during Durham's time as a Brewer. I would put my faith in the young guy that has underperformed expectations than in the old guy who has played above expectations.
  22. Please clarify what you mean by antiSheets. This thread was originally about wether we should bring him back next year. I say no for many reasons, but I also think we will miss him next year. One side is giving me relevant quantifiable numbers, the other is talking about the win statistic and "luck" evening out Not really true. A few people are talking about wins and losses. If I recall correctly, the BABIP comment was by somebody supporting Sheets. I think his poor recent BABIP could be because of his poor control since the end of June. Or is could just be bad luck.
  23. I am more concerned with Sheets not getting into the later innings and just not looking sharp. Even if he did look good and was in the Cy Young hunt(run support is hurting him) I wouldn't want to sink $17M+ a year into one player( I still think he is going to get more than $17M a year). If Sheets would take a front loaded contract, I would be on board, but I doubt that would happen. Even if Sheets was the front runner for the Cy Young and looked dominant, I wouldn't want to sign him.
