  1. I hope Sheets has better control than last time. He can get away with poor control, but I would feel better about him if his control is good.
  2. Try grilling homemade pizza. Best pizza I ever had.
  3. Ask him if he feels like they are cheating the fans since they don't seem to care whether they win or lose until a middle reliever gets them mad. Or ask him if they all have Hulk DNA and get stronger when they are angry.
  4. You mean as in "nix him from the roster?" I have no problem with not using Rivera as a pinch hitter. I would like to see him start twice a week though.
  5. Sweet. Tom Haudricourt can write his article about how "Playoff teams beat teams like Pittsburgh."
  6. I know the actual criteria, just that June seems to be around the general time when super 2 starts to go out. If a guy has service time you would have to wait that extra time like say into July instead of June. Of course they have more of an impact than that. Say Gamel comes up to begin next year and has to be sent down after not hitting for a month. Well you just lost a year of service because you had him sit on the bench in September. You could easily(maybe not easily as the Liriano situation shows) leave him down a month plus to make his service time come up just short of a year. Crappy thing to do, yes, but overall the best way to keep the player cheap.
  7. By my count only the Mariners are technically eliminated from the playoffs at this point. Of course there are teams that have no realistic chance, but Seattle is out and Washington is on the verge. Us sweeping the Cardinals decreased their chances for the playoffs by about 23%. 58.42%-35.77
  8. I think that most people that have posted have found that the service time does count. At least from what I have read here. It really doesn't matter in the overall as the only thing it might affect is super 2 status and then only if a player is called up before June.
  9. Most of our players were part of a No-No just last year.
  10. The only problem I have is that most of the time a close play like that gets called an error so as not to kill the no hitter. The one time it actually matters, it gets called a hit. Other than that, in the years to come, we will probably look at it as just another win. Not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
  11. On that note, I am wondering if the FAQ on free agent time has been updated on this board. I know Casey has corrected me at least once on how service time in the minors counts towards free agency and options.(still a little confused whether it is 3 full years or 3 years after being drafted) Maybe service time for September callups should be included as well.
  12. Maybe check out The Safehouse although I am not sure of their hours and it seems more like a weekend place or not.
  13. Well if they are worried about Parra's innings, I think he may be the odd man out for the playoffs. It has been bothering me for a couple weeks now and I am afraid that our playoff rotation would be CC, Sheets and Suppan. Parra has never pitched this many innings in any of his professional years. We are past the point of putting him in the pen to be ready for the playoffs. Does the team ignore his innings and go for it this year or does Parra get shipped to the pen the last week of September?
  14. Batting Practice All are invited to watch batting practice when Miller Park's gates open (please see Gate Opening Times). Batting practice schedules are subject to change or cancellation.A-Z guide of Miller Park
  15. Drawn in infield looks just as bad when somebody else does it. I swear I have seen every team we play in the last few weeks play a drawn in infield.
  16. The scalpers at Miller Park are a little north of the stadium by Helfaer Field. It is a little league field inside the parking lots. I am not sure what the scalpers charge though.
  17. I didn't get the top of the1st inning either, but the game is on now.
  18. Whenever I go to games I park over by the tennis stadium and UW Hospital and clinics up Walnut street(lot 60 I believe) and take the bus from the lot to Camp Randall. $2 to park last time I was there and $4 per person for the bus. I usually take 51 to 94 to 12/18 and come up on Midvale Blvd. It skirts some of the traffic. The Beltline is busy, but once you get off on Midvale to the parking lot, there is very little traffic. Most of the traffic on gameday is to the North and East. Of course if you have parking already around the stadium, that would be no help at all.
  19. Well, the phrase is "lovable losers." I will start loving them again as soon as they start losing.
  20. I honestly thought that with fewer innings going to the dregs of the pen that the stats from this year would look much better than last year. Higher OPS, lower K rate, higher BB rate, I have to agree that we have been luckier this year.
  21. Our bullpen has been better overall this year than last year. I am actually wondering if our bullpen is better this year than last year. In my opinion I don't think we have much better guys in our pen than we did last year. The results are better, but I think that has more to do with fewer innings going to middle relief and back end of the bullpen guys then we had last year.
  22. I am not trying to say the food is bad, but it is bar food done well. I wouldn't go just for the food. If they didn't make good beer I wouldn't return.
  23. Which is pretty much what Yost would do to keep his bench players sharp. I won't guess wether Branyan was hurt or not, but if he was he should have been put on the DL earlier and Dillon brought up.
  24. At the time he was drafted they probably thought he would grow and develop some power. Since then we have had enough time to discover that he probably won't.
