  1. If that ball doesn't go out, he doesn't even have an opportunity at a double. Yes I know it went out, but it was WAY to close to be admiring it. EDIT: I don't care if other players do it, it doesn't make it right.
  2. Cardinals win expectancy tonight Durham K - 90.7% Hardy single - 82.4% Braun HR - 18.6% 9.3% win expectancy isn't 0%.
  3. Wow, no road sweeps for 4 years and now 2 in a row. One 4 gamer no less.
  4. Figures. I am still trying to sort out if he has hurt us more while he played for us or since he left.
  5. I think the win expectancy graph on fangraphs should be interesting for this one, however it ends.
  6. I think the strike zone has been pretty inconsistent. I have seen worse, I have seen better. I do like that he is getting help from the other umpires on check swings.
  7. Huge, huge, huge strike against Braun there. I know he thought he got all of it, but that was a wall scraper. You gotta run there.
  8. http://artfiles.art.com/images/-/Wes-Helms---Studio-Portrait-Photograph-I11794545.jpeg Not one mention of this guy yet? I blame Chipper Jones.
  9. I just started to read the BP Basics stuff tonight. Mostly similar to stuff I have read elsewhere so far.
  10. I think CC is also leading the NL lead in win %.
  11. There isn't an agenda except to see the Brewers win. Using stats within any one season is to small of a sample of plate appearances to make any kind of determination on who should be playing. Over their careers Branyan has better stats against RHP than Hall does.
  12. I don't know about that. He looked pretty good in the all star game.
  13. Hardy and Weeks didn't have a lefty with big league experience playing their position in AAA. Like Hall or not, Branyan should be expected to put up better numbers against RHP. What a player does in any one game or over several games shouldn't be used to determine what he is going to do in future games.
  14. Yost was in about the middle of the pack in lineups last year. Yost didn't fix anything, he is about average.. LaRussa had 148 different lineups not including the pitcher last year. Including the pitcher he had 159. Yost 109 and 145. 2 spots platooned at the start of last year, the Braun callup later, and injuries to Hall and Weeks. All stuff that would drive up the number of batting orders pretty quickly.
  15. They might be counting Fielder's cup of coffee in 2006.
  16. Ed Rapuano, small high strike zone. Interesting that Joe West was the guy's top rated umpire. Joe West: Although I've tried to avoid casting judgment on the quality of umpires for now, Joe gets my top vote. He is very close to the league average in every direction, but doesn't give the pitch off the left side like most of the league. He also had the fewest number of extra balls and strikes (as opposed to having a bunch that cancel out), which is a sign of consistency.
  17. Kohl's Easttown has Braun shirts now also. I just got a sweet T-shirt with stitched on patches instead of screen printed. This was just last Thursday. My wife got a light blue women's ball and glove shirt(mostly because I told her the Sheets one she bought a couple weeks back would probably be breaking Fanlaw next year because Sheets wouldn't be back). There were also women's shirts with Braun on them.
  18. Why is Hall starting so many games against RHP? Is Branyan injured? I really think that Yost should be giving Branyan more playing time.
  19. I think salary and performance shouldn't ever be used together except to determine what a player should get for their next contract. There are always going to be players making less money and putting up better numbers. Players should be judged against previous performance and expectations. Hall is what he is. He will make some spectacular plays and have some late inning heroics which will somewhat over shadow the fact that he will look completley lost in the field and at the plate some of the time. High highs and low lows, not much in between.
  20. Not all fans get on players for playing poorly. I wouldn't apoligize to my kids for making them stand in a corner last week because they did something they shouldn't have just because they were well behaved all of this week. Hall said some stupid things(through his agent). Fans and the media chastized him. I wouldn't apolagize for that just because he is doing what he is supposed to.
  21. We made sure our crust dough was not runny. It actually ended up being much like a flat bread. Cooked one side and then flipped an put on our toppings. We also sprayed Pam on the grill before putting the dough on the rack. I will probably look for a pizza stone so we can do the same thing in our oven in the winter. Edit: Time for a Miller is my brother. We used his crust and my sauce.
  22. I really miss being able to buy tickets the day before a game or day of. This year I had all my tickets for the year(and parking) bought within a week of tickets going on sale. Even my tickets for September 7th.
  23. My wife commented on how many Brewers shirts we saw at the zoo this year. Up drastically from last year even.
  24. I am not sure what gets used for the preseason predections, but I seem to remember seeing Sheets only predicted to have around 25 starts. I think. If that was the case I think that would have some impact on the prediction.
