  1. Maybe pitchers don't reach the 100+ pitch point unless they are throwing well. There is also a wide spread for half the pitchers at the 90 pitch mark. If they are at the bottom they get pulled, hopefully, and if their velocity is up they stay in. Not really sure about Parra, I was just throwing that out there as a possible reason
  2. One interesting note is that this year defensively Roberts 4.67RF, .805 ZR Weeks 4.56RF, .807ZR Roberts also shows up in the bottom of players in UZR. I know it is only this season and should be considered small sample, but I find it interesting since one of the biggest arguments to getting Roberts instead of Weeks is defense.
  3. Could you put the movement and speed on the same graph or at least right next to each other?
  4. Doesn't Parra throw a split or at the very least more than one type and speed of fastball? I think that would explain his FB speed being all over the place.
  5. No one important.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. After looking at pictures on the internet, our area got hit a lot harder than I originally thought.
  7. I find the direction this thread is heading to be extremely distasteful.
  8. The only thing thing those guys do well is pick organizations to manager for that will put out a consistently good team year to year to make them look good. SABRmetrics may not be the proper term, but I don't think any team does things very differently. They all pick a closer and stick with their guy. I doubt many teams optimize their lineup either, although I am not much of a believer that it makes much difference.
  9. There are a lot of times when perception in baseball is not reality. It is hard to tell the difference especially when we are so emotionally attached to our team.
  10. I honestly think that we would find many of the same faults watching any manager day after day. What we really need if we want a change would be a new GM who believes more in SABRmetrics instead of "this is how it's done in MLB."
  11. Here are the saves and who got them for each team broken down into 3+ inning saves, less than 3 inning and more than 3 out saves, 3 out saves, and less than 3 out saves. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pKN8HdBGjC9LbPpfvDTv3eA
  12. Put in Mota to bean him. He has poor control and we could say it wasn't intentional.
  13. I doubt our scouts being at the game has anything to do with us playing the Orioles in a couple weeks.
  14. I think if we competed against the Twins for anything that mattered, division title/wild card, it would be a big rivalry. There are so many other sports where Minnesota teams are our rivals(college sports) that it would be easy to add just one more sport to the list. At this point it is just a "friendly rivalry" since we only compete for 6 games and can forget about the Twins unless we both make the World Series.
  15. Derrick Turnbow has 3 starts in AAA.
  16. One more injury and it will become hung then shot. I don't understand why we wouldn't start skipping one pitcher every turn through the rotation if possible at this point. It isn't early so we don't have to build guys up anymore like we do in April.
  17. I think we should have started a "we Love Davey Nelson" thread. I think there would have been a good chance he would read it, especially when he was at the draft. I doubt he would have much to do at the draft except surf the net.
  18. About 50% through and it is almost like the sims if you want to stay friends with everybody. I am trying to decide which GF to keep and who I want as friends. The most useful at this point seems to be Kiki and her ability to clear 3 stars with a phone call.
  19. Have to give Yost some credit for going with Torres in the 8th inning today. If Torres is going to be used like that instead of just in the 9th inning, I have no problem with Torres as the closer. There isn't much to be gained by listening to Yost. We aren't going to be getting anything insightful or useful. It is going to be mostly cookie cutter quotes and misdirection. If Yost was more honest instead of defending his players almost to a fault, I would understand taking something from what he says.
  20. We have several houses pumping water into the street, or we did earlier. I would think that now the streets are so flooded with all the new rain today, there isn't much room to pump the water out. We also had several uprooted trees, but no tornadoes yesterday.
  21. Lawn? By the time you get to it you will probably have a swamp instead. Probably have to wait another few days for it to dry before mowing.
  22. Check the Mustaches. They must not have had Just for Men for beards and mustaches yet. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=30571
  23. So Wii does have matchmaking. All I ever heard about was the stupid friend codes you had to input for every game.
  24. We had power out from about 3 until 5 about half an hour north of Madison here. On the plus side the power and cable came on just in time to see Saito close out a game for the Dodgers.
  25. I wish our manager or any manager we have would use "The Book," but not necessarily the unwritten book. Casey beat me to it. I think we would have to hire a different GM to get a much different strategy out of our manager. I think that any manager hired by Melvin is going to be pretty similar to Yost.
