  1. 6 IBB all year to this point and then 2 in one inning. I might see some reasoning behind walking the 2nd guy in front of the pitcher, but not Chipper no matter how well he is hitting. Even the guy in front of the pitcher who you might be able to consider unprotected(I only believe in protection in extreme cases like hitting in front of a pitcher and even then it's a stretch), the pitcher could still be pinch hit for.
  2. Yes he did. He was picked off going on a first move, made an out going 1st to 3rd, and was doubled off. I think the Cardinals also had 2 hit and runs that went bad as well.
  3. Normally Hart is one of our best guys at running the bases and fundamentals. Not today I guess.
  4. I don't think anybody on our team outside of Sheets deserves to be on the all-star team this year. No, not even Braun. Hall 5th just shows how much of a joke the voting actually is.
  5. In the spring I argued that Vargas was the same 100 pitches in 5 innings guy he was last year. I wouldn't have sent him packing, but wasn't disappointed to see him go. I thought we needed to limit Parra's innings, still do, and would have sent him down to keep Vargas.
  6. That's it. I am fed up with this director. He/she doesn't seem to realize that this isn't basketball where everything happens in one camera. That DP was sweet and we get a closeup of Hall touching the bag and watching his throw to first. I wish we could have watched the ball in real time as well. If we are going to have to wait for replays to see plays, why not just tape the game and cut it together and start it an hour later. Maybe we were supposed to see the play reflected in Hall's eyes. At least Bill and Brian let us know what happened. Of course if I wanted to be told what was happenig instead of watching it, I would listen to Uke. I would call the director names, but that would be insulting to idiots and morons to be put in the same category as this person.
  7. I completely disagree with that. All those guys can go more than one inning and limiting them to a certain inning instead of bringing them in to pitch multiple innings whenever needed is a waste. If one of those guys is pitching in the 8th inning and they don't come up to bat, send them out for the 9th.
  8. Gabe "Beefcake" Kapler or Russell "The Muscle" Branyan I was thinking about an old SNL skit so this is along those lines.
  9. I think that our pitchers outside of Sheets and Gallardo were all pretty equal so I wouldn't have been to upset with whoever made the rotation.
  10. That was one of the two big things I noticed. The other was the closeup on a throw to 3B from RF. All we could see was Branyan and the runner until the ball popped in at the last second. The replay was a nice angle though. It showed the whole play including the ball coming in form RF.
  11. "It wasn't hurting us, but in my mind it wasn't creating a huge advantage for us, either," Yost said. "We'll try this for a while, back to a traditional lineup setting, and see what happens." I think that quote is pretty acurate. A traditional lineup is so close to being optimized that changes to make it better are not going to add much advantage. Of course unless you start doing things like batting your pitcher lead off and Fielder in the 9 hole you are not going to make much negative impact on a lineup either.
  12. I was just trying to put his split into some sort of context. It is like comparing Gabe Gross' overall OPS to Fielder's OPS last year. That's how far out Braun's LHP split was ahead of the next closest platoon split.
  13. I was wondering if I was being a little to hard on Braun about his LHP splits last year. Lets just say that mostly because of his SLG they are freakish in nature. 245 points of OPS higher than the next closest person. 40 points of BA. Only 16 points of OBP. 201 points of SLG. LHP splits RHP splits
  14. In my opinion the errors he makes aren't the biggest issue. It is how he makes errors. It is the mistakes like not covering third so that Hardy had to get the guy at first instead and trying to get a double play when you should try to get the guy at 1st instead. Playing ground balls off to the side instead of stepping in front of them. Mental and fundamental mistakes.
  15. Happened just this weekend. Bad throw from LF that Zimmerman had to field and he made a bad throw on top of that.
  16. He also got doubled off, which was somewhat unlucky, and I think he rounded 2B to far or something and made another out on the bases, may have been a 1st to 3rd try where he didn't make it. I would have to check my scorebook to see for sure. All in one game. In the same game there were also 2 hit and runs that went bad, but Pujols was involved in one of those I think.
  17. I don't know, I remember a game against the Cardinals where Pujols made 3 outs on the bases and there were at least 2 hit and runs that went bad. I would guess it is tough to tell if we are worse than other teams and the Brewers just look bad because we see them everyday. Then again maybe we are bad.
  18. I have no idea. Maybe it is part of MLB rules that there has to be one. Sorry a large part of Ned's job is answering the questions of the media and explaining himself. Maybe, but if DM and Mark A. have any problem with how he does it, they haven't done anything about it and I wouldn't expect anything to be much different unless there is a coaching change. I understand people being upset that we don't get an explanation, but don't understand what makes people think we have a right to an explanation. I think it is bad PR not to give one, but we certainly don't have a right to one.
  19. Ned doesn't have to explain his reasoning behind in game moves to anybody except DM or Mark A. Does it make for good PR with fans? Probably not. Does it help him by not revealing his strategy to other managers? Maybe, even though I doubt it. The point is that there is nothing to be gained by answering questions truthfully other than making fans feel better. People have the right to expect straight answers, but not the right to receive them.
  20. The public has a right to demand answers, but we don't have a right to get them. I think it would be great to get straight answers out of DM and Yost, but I don't expect them to give them. I don't think it is the media's fault, there is only so much they can do without alienating Yost and DM. Why shouldn't we be able to take what he says with any value? I didn't say no value should be placed in what he says, just that you shouldn't take it at face value. Why is he allowed to get off without ever answering a tough question and we're all just ok with it, because that's Ned? I doubt many people are okay with it, just that there isn't much we can do about it. Considering that Melvin is about the same when answering questions, I doubt he has much problem with Yost's press conferences either.
  21. I don't undersand why anything in a post game press conference is taken at face value. Yost's job isn't to have press conferences that make fans feel all warm and fuzzy. He is out there to spout dumb cliches and put a positive spin on everything. We really have no idea what happens in the lockerroom and are not likley to find out until Yost is gone.
  22. No, I would stick with Bush. It isn't like Villy should be expected to be better than Bush so replacing Bush with Villy would make very little sense.
  23. I could be wrong, but hasn't Villy been terrible as a starter so far also?
  24. If that's the case then I doubt we make the playoffs without some luck. I didn't think we would win more than 86 this year anyway. Of course what do I know.
  25. The Cubs had to much talent to suck all year last year. I am not sure how much Pinella actually affected that.
