  1. If they had hit the same all the time instead of really well with RISP they would have still been amongst the leaders in runs scored in the NL last year.
  2. No they don't. Yes they got a little lucky on offense last year but they also scored a lot more runs than the next best team. Even if they were not lucky with RISP last year they would have likely still led the league in runs scored.
  3. I don't think you can pick locks without a rogue. Everything pales in comparison to a damage dealing mage. The game is totally different if you play as a mage. I don't remember how I did it but I did have Wynne set up pretty good as a healer. You just need to tweak the tactics. Something along the lines of potion heal herself@50% or less regeneration ally less than 75% heal ally less than 50% maybe group heal and revival mixed in Make sure she isn't attacking and drawing aggro
  4. I did the Circle of Mages tower quest already, so I know the healer character of which you speak. She's been a fixture in my party ever since, which means that 'healer' and 'main character' (a rogue) are a constant half of the foursome. The 3rd spot needs to be a Warrior (tank - to use the MMO term), leaving me one spot where I'm free to alternate between 2/3rds of the cast. Since I know that a good deal of the fun in the game is the dialogue between these characters, it's slightly disappointing that this playthrough is so constrained by my party's options. (Going back to read through the DA:O discussion now; thank you for highlighting it.) You are always going to be somewhat restrained by any party. You always need a rouge and a healer and a tank. If you were not the rogue you would have to pick Zevran or Leliana. Wynne is really the only good healer. Almost no matter what you play as your choices will be limited. You could play as the healer but let's face it, what fun is that.
  5. You can find a healer. In fact there is one really good healer you can get to join you. A mage built to damage is really tough to beat. You can cast AOE spells into rooms you are not even in. Lets you wipe out many of the bad guys before they even see you. Without giving anything about the story away the mage makes a few of the quests much easier than they would be for a weapon based character. Edit: A lot of the DA:O talk starts around post #221.
  6. Was it in a tiny little bone?
  7. I think we were kind of hoping Bianchi would fill in in that capacity but he kind of fell on his face.
  8. Should have at least asked for $2 or better yet $3.50.
  9. As I pointed out in the game thread....that's somewhat deceptive because he gets the platoon advantage of being hid from his weakness. 87% of his PA's are against righties. He only has 31 PA's against lefties. I'm not making the argument that Scooter isn't valuable, just that the numbers that he puts up don't paint an entirely accurate picture of his abilities. Considering the majority of pitchers are right handed I think that is less of a problem. A problem for sure but even if he totally sucks against them it won't affect his stats as much as if it were reversed. The real question is does the manager understand that and will he make the appropriate lineup changes on a nightly basis. If Scooter would play full time he should be in the bottom of the lineup against LHP.
  10. I think they prefer to jump up innings in the 20-30 per year range not a percentage. So the 190ish is probably right.
  11. Let's be honest. Miller, Coors (OH GOD ESPECIALLY COORS WHAT THE HELL IS BANQUET BEER EVEN MEAN?), Bud - it's all swill that people with functioning taste buds should avoid at all costs. Why do you think they serve it ice cold? Deadens the taste buds.
  12. Sounds like Kotsay in CF all over again. This is exactly the kind of player you do not allow our manager to have on the team.
  13. Emphasis on "you" -- if they opt to do it, dadgummit, they've earned the right through decades of classiness! That is the part that always bothered me the most. The hypocrisy.
  14. Did you mean some other stat becasue from what I remember wOBA is usually a decimal type number with 3 digits.
  15. TheCrew07 also pointed out that the CBA did change.
  16. Hopefully he can develop a bit as a hitter and keep playing good defense. Otherwise he may have a Yuni like career.
  17. Is this his current pitching mechanics? I believe Gallardo has changed his pitching mechanics since his knee injury. Before that he was thought to have really good mechanics.
  18. I know, I'm talking about his initial rookie contract from when we drafted him, that got extended. That's not how it works. A player gets a signing bonus when they sign after being drafted. Then the team has the player for 4-5 years before having to add them to the 40-man roster. After that there are 3 option years where the team can keep them in the minors. Then 3 years at then MLB level before the player is eligible for 3 years of arbitration. There are not contracts for more than one year for MiLB players. The MLB teams holds their rights and pays them year to year.
  19. No, he can't. Can;t find a source for that info right now but Hellweg to the 60-day DL has been brought up either here or over at BCB.
  20. Nelson currently has 27 days of service time. Not sure if that includes this year. He was up for a bit last year.
  21. As someone else mentioned, I think this shows many people really don't care about PED's/know what is going on within baseball. I mean, injured players win the vote sometimes. It would be neat if the voting public got together and voted in the worst player in the league to start in a game that matters. Yuni is playing in Japan.
  22. When our kids are older, and this may already be the case, they will probably wonder why we say "the phone is ringing off the hook."
  23. I hope he does better than those picks.
  24. That's only if you watch all the games. To follow your own team you don't have to stay up late more than a few times a year. Not the same with baseball.
  25. They play once a week. Big difference. Each team plays once a week, sure. Hardcore football fans watch three games Sunday, one Monday night and one Thursday night so the total number of games consumed on a weekly basis isn't all that different. Plus no one ever complains about there just being too many baseball games, they always complain about how long and/or slow they are. My point is football games are longer, slower and more popular. Maybe baseball needs to ramp up the violence? The total number of games may be similar but football generally happens when people have spare time over the weekend. Staying up late for a Thursday night game and struggling through one day is way different from staying up Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday then struggling through the next day. They just need to enforce rules already in place to speed up the games. I would love the games to start at 6:30 and be over by 9 at the latest.
