  1. Looking at the batted ball stats it looks like Coglhan is putting the ball in the air more. He is also walking more so there may be a change in his swing or stance that may account for the improvement... or he's just getting lucky.
  2. Doesn't really sound like we had anything to do with you changing your mind.
  3. I agree overall but this part is misleading. They were 6th in the AL.
  4. That is my concern with putting starters in the pen. It may actually be harder on your arm becasue you don't get regular rest. Not saying you need complete rest but at the very least you would need a light day.
  5. We knew Morales wouldn't be an upgrade or a minimal upgrade at best.
  6. Sellers implies making the MLB team worse and acquiring more prospects. I would love to build the farm but any discussion about trading MLB players while a team is leading the division at the halfway point is crazy talk. Edit: Mind you that I am not sold we are the best team in our division and I don't think our rotation stacks up well with other playoff teams. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up in third place at the end of the season.
  7. Only the ones that light themselves on fire if you don't clean them out.
  8. Jeff Todd has reported that Nelson cannot not qualify for Super2 status. That's an awfully big assumption. He may be right and I have to believe that Melvin or somebody working for him is keeping track of service time of the players likely to be in the same arby year as Nelson. If it was a straight service time thing I would agree but it goes by percentage.
  9. A lot of times the native resolution will show up on the monitor if you hit the menu button.
  10. Does anyone really believe we'll play better after the ASB than we did before the ASB? We'll play sub .500 ish, we'll fade into oblivion, the Packers season will start. I'm optimistic about the Packers season! you are in the wrong threadforum
  11. a rule 5 draft pick must be on the active roster for at least 90 days for a team to retain his rights. wang achieved that in early july. wang has no minor league options this year (unless a trade is worked out by the pirates). if he remains on the brewers 40-man through spring training 2015, he will have three minor league options. but as outlined above, the brewers can send wang to the minors on a 30-day rehab assignment after his fifteenth day on the disabled list. he would still be earning major league service time and major league pay, and the brewers would still retain his rights. Yes to retain his rights they have to have him on the roster for 90 days. That doesn't mean in one season.
  12. They wouldn't have lost him at any time if they place him on the DL. It was a matter of having enough time on the roster so they could use options to send him to the minors.
  13. Do you ever make a post that doesn't contain your distaste for Wang? Only when he posts about his distaste for Weeks.
  14. I know but when you carry 2 guys at 1B and 2B you kind of have to put up with guys like Schafer, Bianchi, and Herrera instead of a decent bat on the bench.
  15. Yeah there is nobody in the bullpen who sucks and should be replaced.
  16. It is a flaw is the system for sure. Which is probably why Melvin took advantage of it. If you can get a guy in the system for what it cost the Brewers so far I think it's pretty much a no brainer. That said they should address that flaw. There is a minor league part of the draft as well. I think practically every team would have taken Wang if he got that far. Bottom line is they should probably make a change to how voided minor league contracts are handled.
  17. I didn't either until Greinke got hurt playing basketball.
  18. certainly not coming around and spouting silliness during a 1-10 stretch. Don't count on it. Read yesterday's IGT.
  19. That's just asking for bad karma dude.
  20. This sucks. I was hoping he would play but play very poorly. I really didn't want Lucroy to play much in the All-Star game either. I would rather he rested.
  21. It was setup to keep teams from hoarding players. Guys who had 4+ years in the minors but were not good enough to make a big league team. I think the problem is when you run into goofy problems like what happened with Wang. There should still be pre40 man roster years even if a player has his contract voided. I don't think the Rule V draft is the problem.
  22. Braun will never be paid more than $15m in any season because of deferred payments. I agree with the overall point.
  23. Sure he said it but he was wrong. Right. Wolf signed in 2010. Greinke and Marcum were traded for before 2011. That's 3/5ths of a staff right there via FA and trade, in 2 off-seasons. That's also on a pretty limited budget. A team can easily buy and trade for a starting rotation over a couple years. It's been done a few times recently.
