  1. Instead of Weeks maybe but add his salary and having to actually give up a player to get him and I am not sure it's worth it.
  2. I would have a huge problem with that. I would hate to see one of our young starters not getting innings.
  3. Bunting in that case lowers the number of runs scored but increases the odds of a run scoring. It probably wasn't a horrible call in this case. It doesn't help that Gomez struck out on 4 pitches out of the zone.
  4. Your definition and my definition of competitive are very different if you think we have been competitive every year since 2008. I don't think they were competitive last year or in 2009-2010. 2012 wasn't all that great either. You can say injuries or suspensions all you want but when you build a team that top heavy without any depth things can go south quickly.
  5. A position player on the 25 man roster gets more playing time than the last guy in the pen.
  6. I wonder how may teams a guy can play on in one season. Hector Noesi has been on 3 so far in April.
  7. Sizing up the MVP races: Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki, Angels' Mike Trout emerge as early leaders Pshaw. We know it's going to Cabrera again.
  8. DL him in July, give him 2-3 weeks off, Send him to AA for 30 days(aug) , bring him back up Sept 1 to basically sit/pitch blow outs He would have to actually be injured. Kind of hard when he almost never pitches.
  9. Yes they do. He goes through waivers. If he's not claimed then he's offered back to the Pirates for $25,000. If the Pirates don't want him back (which seems highly unlikely to me) then the Brewers could send him to the minors. But every team would have to pass on him, not just the Pirates and since he's so young and appears to have a pretty good ceiling, you would think at least one rebuilding team would bite the bullet for a year and keep him on their roster. Gah. I (incorrectly) remembered that it was established earlier in this thread that he was offered back to the original club first! Apologies to Outlander... and I think I'll once again give up on trying to understand all of MLB's roster transaction rules. or you could check Cot's.
  10. If I was Weeks and the Brewers asked me to do that I would tell them to pound sand take my money and sign elsewhere. No way would I play in the minors this year unless on rehab.
  11. Since this is also applicable since some people think we can just send him to the DL. Again, Per Cot's
  12. Ditto. If you are seriously planning to contend this year, then I don't see how you can eat up a valuable roster spot with a guy that basically throws batting practice every time he is called upon to pitch. He's had four outings so far, and looked good & put up a 0 in two of those outings. In the role he should be filling, I just don't see what the uproar is about. If RR would wise up & use Wang as a second LOOGY & then mop-up guy, he wouldn't hurt the club. For example, Duke could've been turned to to go two or three innings yesterday & Kintzler could be used for multiple innings if needed at some point as well; there's really no reason Wang has to be relied upon to go multiple innings in a close game. I don't believe Wooten or Figaro are better enough than Wang to get concerned about. I don't understand the uproar either. Many times last year our last guy in the pen go a week or longer without even pitching. Keeping him around doesn't hurt us and may help in the future.
  13. Like others have said before, how good is the last reliever in the pen on even the best teams. It would be a huge mistake to do anything with Wang right now.
  14. There is a whole thread about Davis in the MLB forum. Linky
  15. He's swinging at a lot of pitches outside the zone. He has swung at 40% of the pitches outside the zone.
  16. Thanks for correcting me there. I remember Lucroy starting that year in AA and getting the call to the majors shortly there after. Yeah he did start in AA that year but in most other years he would have started in AAA.
  17. Lucroy didn't jump from AA to the majors. He played more games in AAA than in AA that year. He played a full season in AA the year before and would have been in AAA but we needed to put Salome there. Granted it was a pretty quick call up. I doubt they would have normally called him up that quickly but he wasn't called up from AA.
  18. From Fangraphs O-Swing% Z-Swing% Swing% O-Contact% Z-Contact% Contact% Zone% 31.1 % 74.8 % 50.4 % 55.7 % 82.7 % 73.4 % 44.2 % 39.1 % 69.6 % 54.4 % 50.8 % 75.9 % 66.9 % 50.0 %
  19. Braun out with an oblique. Segura hit in the head. Ramirez day to day with an elbow. Yes they have.
  20. I would just like to have a bench instead of a suspended player and 3-4 non DL players.
  21. A 100 OPS+ is literally average.
  22. Do you expect K-Rod to be perfect all year? Do you expect the bullpen to hold opponents to a .198 batting average year? Do you expect Estrada, Gallardo, Peralta and Lohse to be able to hold down respective ERA's of 2.87, 1.42, 2.56 and 2.38? Baseball is a game of peaks and valleys. We're at a peak right now. We'll hit a valley or two somewhere during the season. It's going great right now, enjoy it. It's not going to go this way all year, and how we rebound from it will say a lot more than what we are doing righ tnow. Last April 27th, the Rockies led the NL West and had a 3.5 game lead over the Dodgers. The Dodgers ended up 18 games ahead of them on the last day of the season. Texas led Oakland by 3.5 games and ended up 5.5 behind on the last day of the season. Kansas City had a game up on the Tigers and lost to them by 7 games. Could we win the division, sure we could. But talking about the race being over with 137 games left to play is crazy. Yes. Dude, enough. Ever since post #54 the Brewers have been dropping like flies.
  23. No after three years on the 40-man he is out of options if we used options in each year. Then there are 3 pre arby years, well 2 in this case. Then there are 3 arby years.
  24. Average for Dunn fine. His OPS+ has been around 100. Not great or worth trading for but certainly not horrendous.
