  1. Peralta already had TJ in 2007.
  2. I know few if any will agree with me, but I would shop Peralta to see if there is someone out there who believes his ERA. Keri talked about how lucky Peralta has been in his last power ranking for Grantland: http://grantland.com/features/mlb-the-30-astros-indians-braves-brewers-corey-kluber/ He assumes Peralta is lucky this year but his strand rate this year (76%) is more in line with league average(73%) this year than last year(66%). Given that Peralta is a heavy groundball pitcher I find it easier to buy this year's numbers than last year's though the truth is probaly somewhere in between. Peralta is the type of pitcher I would expect to outperform his FIP. Looking at his MiLB stats he pretty consistently did.
  3. You are talking about a month. Could just be good pitching. We are 5th in the NL in runs scored. This may just be regression. We don't know it isn't for guys lime Gomez and Lucroy.
  4. Braun was one of the worst infielders ever. Historically bad. That is not an exageration. Yuni and Reynolds were just bad. Yuni had bad range but decent hands. Braun had good range but couldn't pick the ball off the dirt. Yuni's "skills" translated well to a position where range didn't matter much. Braun's skills translate well to a position where he doesn't have to pick the ball off the ground quickly.
  5. We have explained in detail why. He looked bad the stats were bad, not just the throwing. You may disagree but I don't see how it can be baffling.
  6. At 3B Ryan Braun had a -28.5 UZR in a partial season. -42.8 UZR/150. His range part was -20.1 UZR. He was actually better at throwing the ball than fielding it and he wasn't very good at fielding. If he had fielded the ball at an average rate he would still have had a -12.6 UZR/150. Braun wasn't just horrendous, he was historically horrendous.
  7. Row is always more important to me than actual section. Other than the outfield. I don't like sitting out there.
  8. 1. Make the All-Star game an exhibition again. No more deciding home field advantage. If it ends in a tie so be it. 2. Market game. I know it's popular now but make it more TV friendly. Enforce rules already in place to speed up the pace of the game. Market star players. 3. Centralize the revenue for MLB. Players are paid out of a central fund owners do not pocket as much money. Salary caps. MLB negotiates all TV deals. 4. Try to make PED use not as prominent an issue. Guys are cheating, don't make a big deal about it. 5. Games start earlier. Especially WS and playoff games.
  9. Just Braun because he was a terrible infielder and Davis because he tried it and didn't like it.
  10. Exactly what the title says. I have a couple in mind already. I will post later in the day.
  11. Add 90 minutes each way driving plus either traffic or arriving early enough to avoid the traffic, and going to a game is somewhere around 8-9 hours for a 3 hour game.
  12. and I wouldn't blame him.
  13. If the money is close to equal I can see the Cubs being a more attractive landing spot than New York.
  14. I wish they would at least make people stay in their seats until the half inning or a pitching change. I always try to sit in as low a row number as possible. Then the percentage of idiots behind you is greater than in front of you. Kids, well in general I think they are getting brattier.
  15. Melvin has generally been bad in FA but we still made the postseason twice. A lot of parallels can be drawn between the Cubs now and the Brewers in 2003ish. The huge difference being the Cubs have more money to spend.
  16. The free agent 3B look better than the FA 1B. Either would work.
  17. Braun is an atrocious infielder. Parra isn't a very good hitter either. You don't make room for a guy with a career .313 wOBA. That's only marginally better than we are receiving this year at 1B. Small gain on offense, maybe. Probable overall loss on defense. I would think it is a lateral move at best. Go out and find a 3B or 1B.
  18. By the time their offense is good enough both will be FA and the Cubs will have the money to sign them on a FA contract. If it was the Brewers their best bet would have been to sign them to an extension at a team friendly cost like they did with Sheets.
  19. A lot of offense prospects with no pitching developing. Where have we heard this before?
  20. Fiers came back last year and sucked then got hurt. He may not have been 100% before he got hurt so that may be the cause. Estrada isn't great but I think we need to hold onto him for depth. We have been extremely lucky this year with pitching injuries, at least for starters.
  21. Nope. Let him go do whatever it is he does far far away from Milwaukee. Thanks for 2011 Nyjer and have a nice life.
  22. Why would they trade for a few starts. I honestly wouldn't want them to. Makes no sense to burn resources for a few starts with the pitching depth we have even if it's the whole season.
  23. I know. Lack of capitalization and punctuation sucks.
  24. No no no no no no. Braun is a terrible infielder. He didn't do anything well. He would be Juan Francisco bad at 1B. Parra doesn't have a bat we should be making room for. Especially when he is a FA after 2015 and we would have to find another outfielder. Doug just needs to go out and find a 1B. Not the easiest thing to do but Braun is not the answer.
