  1. RBI is a function of where a hitter is in the order more than how good they are. It really should be completely ignored.
  2. You and I must have very different definitions of the word "autonomous". To me it means that a driver is not necessary; it drives itself safely without human intervention. You are implying shared/community ownership. I can own an autonomous vehicle, but have no obligation to let anyone else use it. I would never be able to share cars. I have no faith in humans to keep those things even a little decently clean. People treat everything like it is their own already in public spaces with little concern or others. Those shared cars would be nasty and filled with garbage.
  3. I didn't use the snake method at all. Lit the coals and piled them on one side. Almost completely closed the vents. Indirect heat. I have previously used one of those grills with a side chamber for smoking and found the Weber to be much better. More airtight and held the temp better.
  4. I just used a regular Weber 22" grill to smoke a pork but the other week. One chimney of charcoal lasted 7 hours at a steady 250°. It is very air tight and the charcoal goes out when I close it up after grilling. I was able to adjust the bottom vent to control the heat.
  5. So he has essentially been a league average hitter with below average defense who needs a good amount of time off. Not really a starter at this point in his career.
  6. He never had good defensive instincts. His defense in the outfield was entirely speed dependent and as his speed has declined so has his defense. Not really a shock. He has had injury concerns most of his career. Pretty early on he had nagging oblique issues and that is always a concern.
  7. The internet is going to be needed regardless of any streaming service so the cost is not included.
  8. It was awhile ago but I thought at one time MLB player salaries were only about half of the operating costs for teams.
  9. I would hope that is the case, as if it's a roster limit then that will really inhibit young guys getting valuable major league experience in September. The first thing that came to mind for me was the fact that the minor league minimum goes up dramatically if you have even one day of service time in the majors and you are also a member of the MLBPA.
  10. Doubtful. It would be a terrible ides since they could be put on the bench so they don't reach their incentives. Any time a player didn't reach their incentive there would be tons of speculation. Too much opportunity for manipulation.
  11. 1. Minor league players 100% should get more money. I would be in favor of locking in bonus money in the draft along with going with less money for bonuses. The money taken from the draft could be rolled into minor league player salaries. I would also allow teams to retain rights to players drafted similar to the NHL where they can be drafted the still play in college. 2. They should go to 2 years the 4 years of arbitration for MLB players. I am not sure how smaller markets would compete if you take too much team control away. 3. Every team could sign any player, just not for more than a couple years. If 8/$250m was the offer to Machado then that would be the second highest per year contract in MLB history. I seems the owners are just tired of dead money. I can't blame them. I am all for the players getting more money, but until all TV revenue is shared there need to be mechanisms in place to keep more teams competitive.
  12. They seriously couldn't replace TGI Friday's with a brewpub. They put a new brewpub every other week in the Madison Sun Prairie area.
  13. I have not looked too closely at stats in the last couple years but generally pitching was not well projected. Relief pitching in particular was hard to project. There seems to be a large shift to strong bullpens that is difficult to project in systems as are relief pitchers year to year because of sample sizes.
  14. Yes, the fact that Barry Bonds is not in the "Hall of Fame" is an absolute joke. If Bonds is not in the hall then nobody else belongs in the hall except maybe Ruth or Williams or a handful of others. His statistical achievements were accomplished with the aid of illegal drugs. That causes some writers to withhold their vote for him, per their interpretation of the election rules. Isn't that a reasonable explanation for why he hasn't been elected? At this point, believing that any player is completely clean is naive at best. The players are better at cheating than the tests are at finding the cheaters and they always will be. Getting caught is a fluke and keeping a guy out because you think he was cheating is lame. Vote in guys who hit well and be done. The HOF is just a boys club and needs to be put down along with most of the old guard in the BBWAA.
  15. I am going to drop dead at my desk at the age of 55.
  16. Punters are the worst dogs. Anything the size of a football shouldn't be a dog.
  17. I can answer for YouTube TV: 1. You get unlimited Cloud DVR, available on every device you have the app, so if I'm traveling I could watch my recorded shows on my phone. One really nice feature is you just subscribe to a show or a team and it automatically records each showing for you. For example, I just subscribe to the Brewers and Bucks and I get every game regardless of what channel or time they're on. Also really cool is it accounts for long games. If the Brewers go extra innings for example, the recording grabs the whole thing, not just the three hour window the game was earmarked for. The only real negative is if you DVR something that is also available on demand, it forces you to watch the on demand version with the commercials. 2. As long as you have the app, you can log into as many devices as you want, including laptops, tablets and phones, though you're only allowed three concurrent streams. If your TV doesn't have the app, you would need some kind of a device like a Roku or an Apple TV to stream it with. You can add up to six friends or family members to your account and they each get their own personal account and DVR, but again only three concurrent streams, so you have to be careful with that. 3. This is the big reason I went to YouTube TV. In the Green Bay market they have all five local channels, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW. They also have FS Wisconsin and FS Wisconsin Plus for those days when the Bucks and Brewers are on at the same time. It was the only streaming service I could find that had all of the locals. 4. In two months with the service, I haven't had a single issue of buffering or lag or pixilation. It's been a constant HD feed at all times. I have 100 mbps internet from Spectrum, so your mileage my vary if you have slower internet and multiple streams. How about if you live in market? That is the big issue with any streaming of MLB games.
  18. Gut reaction is gross. Hate 5 years for a guy on the wrong side of 30. Also thought we had a few CF in the minors.
  19. Driving up the prices on GPUs over the last month. Way up. It's crazy to see a $250 GPU go for $500 and a $400 GPU go for $800.
  20. The Johnsonville brat grill is a stupid invention. There is never a day in Wisconsin when it is to cold to grill. Johnsonville vs Klements, both are garbage. Go to a respectable meat market and get some brats. Avoid anything precooked. Way better then anything Johnsonville or Klements can make. I like the Rio meatmarket of Hofs in Brownsville personally. Awesome brats and less expensive than Johnosnville or Klement in the grocery store. Specialty brats are also awesome. Jalapeno and cheddar, Blueberry and cheddar, Blue cheese, gyro, and bacon cheddar just to name a few if regular soaked in beer and onions overnight is not good enough. Grilling is a passion don't settle for mass market brats.
  21. Stop using autocorrect.
  22. Scooter is a bad defense, 2B, platoon only player. We had a team that was building. He had no place on the team. Villar was a young high upside guy. Not a mistake at all. It would have been nice to get something for Gennett but he had no place on the team and it was only a bad choice in hindsight if that. He is a scrub overachiever and keeps being brought up by Briggs like a few other players. Briggs finds a guy and argues the facts that fit his narrative. Any thread Briggs comments on should be closed. I have had his posts on hidden for years for a reason.
  23. Villar also did not have to be platooned. Gennett's numbers have been artificially inflated by limiting his exposure to lefties.
