  1. That would be more interesting. I think that would take us to 28.8. I think that would also take us to 28.8. Both would take us to 29.2. I think. I did it quickly so I may have made some mistakes.
  2. All that stuff is slotted or capped so I don't think Garza will have an impact on that. Yes I know it is a cap that only hands out penalties.
  3. I think we are more than a few injuries away from the first pick. Houston was/is pretty bad.
  4. One show on each of those would have probably been the best way to go. I would have liked to see how the whole group with Tracy interacted. Ted and Tracy hanging out with Lilly and Marshall.
  5. Half the league is at 28-29. I would count that as basically the same age.
  6. I think they should have had Ted meeting the mother a lot closer to the start of the episode. You know that Barney and Robin are already divorced by the time Ted and the mother meet. I never really felt much attachment to the mother. I think the jumping around in time didn't allow for much connection with her. At least in the last episode. I hate how they basically undid most of the character development of the last few years. After the whole season spent on the weekend leading up to Barney and Robin's wedding it was really aggravating to have it all undone within a few minutes. Ted and Robin ended up together, maybe. I don't remember if she stopped moving around for her job enough to have a real relationship. It showed when didn't when she and Barney split. For Ted to try with her again just seems idiotic. Again, undoing the character growth. The characters were in the end basically the same as they were at the start. Except for Barney.
  7. I bet it was more like 20% standing cheering, 20% sitting cheering, 40% half passed out, 20% completely passed out or puking.
  8. Yeah they are good at quickly recognizing dead weight like Alex Gonzales and Yuni...
  9. This contract makes no sense. I doubt they paid less than they would have if he signed as a free agent. They don't look like they got a deal and they signed him for many of his declining years. If you go over to Cot's and look at the average per year value of the highest contracts they are going up incrementally except for this contract and Kershaw's contract. Then again maybe $30m per year is the new bar for star contracts.
  10. [sarcasm]The Milwaukee Brewers First Base Circus of 2013 and likely 2014 says hello.[/sarcasm] We would have moved the circus to 3B instead. 3B is even more desolate in the minors for us than 1B. Over the past 2 years the fWAR of Ramirez and Fielder has been virtually identical and since WAR is a counting stat that is even more impressive when you consider Ramirez has done it in about 70% of the PA. Add in he did it at half the price and a fraction of the years and I don't think a very strong argument can be made that we would be better off with Fielder.
  11. That money is probably better spent on Ramirez, Hart, and Garza than it would have been on Fielder.
  12. None of our current prospects are projected to be stars like Fielder was. Edit: Aoki is probably a better example but look what Davis had to do to force that to happen.
  13. That applies to practically everything in baseball. Very little in baseball is progressive. There is too much groupthink.
  14. It would probably be easier to work Thornburg into the rotation if he is in the pen than if he was starting in AAA.
  15. Trading him about the same time they traded JJ Hardy would have probably packed more talent into 2011 and beyond. If we get a good pitcher for Fielder it doesn't necessitate the trades for either Greinke or Marcum. We get different or better long term players back for the guys we traded.
  16. It was the racoons.
  17. 153-167, yup pretty bad. Long term the team looks bad too. Who wouldn't but just because the team doesn't seem to be intentionally run into the ground doesn't mean it is good. The way the team is currently running is a recipe for mediocrity. Of course you do. The current management is just doing a poor job recognizing when we are no longer on an upswing.
  18. There is just so much backward thinking in baseball it boggles the mind. It's a boys club with managers and GMs. Minimally progressive spewing out outdated nonsense and refusing to change. From training to instituting replay to tactical decisions made on the field the world has passed baseball by and they don't care.
  19. You can thank Iowa for most of those national titles with 23.
  20. If Overbay is the last guy on the roster. Our manager always seems to play these "last guys" way too much.
  21. Talking about politics is strictly against board policy or was.
  22. Don't you mean Wang came up?
  23. You need stars to compete at the MLB level. We can't afford stars through free agency so we need to develop them. We don't have any future stars in the minors.
  24. There will always be guys who get hurt and guys who don't. It's part of the human body. Saying "Why can't guys be like the single most durable pitcher in history" is no different then saying, "Why can't everyone hit like Ted Williams?" Long ago I think most pitchers disappeared if they had arm injuries.
