  1. The 60-day DL can't be used in the offseason either.
  2. I get the internet, Netflix, and Amazon Prime anyway. Those things in my opinion are a wash and while they are replacements for cable, I wouldn't count them as part of the cost of replacing cable. For me it would be the cost of cable vs Hulu and Sling. If I had cable I would still need an internet connection. I would also still subscribe to Amazon Prime and Netflix.
  3. Anything that will help reduce umpire jackassery is great in my opinion.
  4. Wow, the players stop playing over their head and we should blame the manager?
  5. Without regard to the stats that have already been pointed out.......... If you'd want Jay Bruce in the lineup over Ryan Braun I can't help you. It's just such a crazy notion. Shrug. It's what he does. Likes a name. Ignores the facts.
  6. It's really only a mimor quibble that we didn't get anything for Scooter. I am sure they shopped him.
  7. No, you are right. The tone of the board has shifted quite dramatically over the last couple years. There is a lot more use of acronyms instead of actually typing things out as well.
  8. Bunting in general is bad. Sorry, giving up outs in general is bad. Being predictable about when you are trying to bunt is bad. It cuts down on making it safely to a base. Here is a link to expected runs depending on base state and how often at least one run will score based on the base state. This is obviously based on average but you are basically better off pinch hitting than bunting. http://www.tangotiger.net/re24.html
  9. Gennett was and still is a platoon player who plays below average defense and has only one more year of control after this year. Even in hindsight there wasn't a compelling reason to keep him. It was a much better move to go with someone with upside. It would have been nice to trade him for something but other than that I can find little fault with getting rid of him.
  10. Up north is north of Stevens Point or Wausau
  11. A hat or a broach or a pterodactyl.
  12. You said easily. He would need to be approx. 4x better to be league average. He is way closer to replacement level than he is to average. 2 is average over the course of an entire season. Not 3/5 of a season or whatever they're at. and of course WAR is a counting stat so the number of games do have to be taken into account.
  13. Replacement level is by definition below average.
  14. lol that's funny. No they don't. Brewers have 1 more loss than the Cubs. I could give a damn about winning pct. We also have 3 more wins banked. Don't get me wrong, I still think that we will miss the playoffs and this team is playing over their talent but it is nice to see the team winning
  15. The 2011 offense was better. Other than CF, that defense in 2011 was pretty brutal. Pitching in 2011 was better. Overall I would take the 2011 team. I still think the Brewers are playing over their head a bit this year.
  16. We don't really have any stars or very good players. Don't think this is a slight at all. Braun is the only name player we have.
  17. Braun is making $15m tops per year. No reason to touch his contract unless ge will take less overall and there is no way the union would let that happen.
  18. Why? The prospects that were part of that trade are looking pretty good and we could have traded Jeffress for something on top of the haul from Cleveland.
  19. No, a month and a half is not a trend.
  20. That contract for Simmons does not look all that great right now. It looks like they paid him for the 17 HR in his first full year. They can load the contract any way they want. If the value over the life of the contract is equal or more than he would get going through arbitration and free agency then we shouldn't do the deal. If he wants the security of the guaranteed money he has to give something up. I would definitely give him a signing bonus to load some money towards the front.
  21. Too much money on the last two years. The whole point is to get some years of free agency at a discount.
  22. Anything you buy will be better than whatever the cable company provided. My short recommendation would be to buy a good router and turn off the wireless from the internet provider's modem/router. Lots if things will interfere with 2.4. Phones, Bluetooth, microwaves, practically anything wireless uses the frequency. Your neighbors are probably using it as well. Might be as simple as using a different channel on your router. You can check with an app like WiFi analyzer. Range will also be diminished by walls.
  23. Wow. Really? I have a feeling if any SS in baseball not named Yuni made that play, that thought would never have crossed your mind. I'm not sure how any SS is able to step on the base himself on that one. A SS with any range is able to take a different angle to the ball the takes him towards 2B.
  24. Quite possibly... That's the one I was trying to remember... couldn't remember who the SS was that turned it. And no folks, that's not Yuni-trolling, that is one of the most spectacular double-plays I've ever seen, both the behind the back flip and the barehanded catch by Weeks. I remember that one. It was the play where a good SS gets the guy at 2B instead of having to flip the ball to 2B.
