I really don't have a problem with Davis not being at 1B. Some people just shouldn't play on the infield. We know this from watching Braun. So let me get this straight, we gave up our first round pick to minimally improve the team but planned out everything else so poorly we are now stuck with Yuni at 1B. Melvin is the clear leader for whipping boy. Of course DPR has to shoulder some of the blame. Maldonado is an option to play 1B. Not a good option but miles better than Yuni.

I still hate him. It would take a Wes Helms knocking the Mets out of the playoffs to not hate Yuni. I still hate Helms Yeah still not a fan of Fatty but I don't hate him.

Yeah I think he looked better last year but he really wasn't a very good hitter to begin with.

Nobody is saying he should take a first pitch strike. Nobody. The problem is that Gomez isn't' selective enough. Almost all players have their best results on the first pitch. This is because is a player is swinging at the first pitch, it is usually the pitch they were looking for. This doesn't mean they should swing at the first pitch.

You should probably address each post then instead of a blanket statement. It is an internet forum. You are probably going to get complaints about every aspect of the organization even if they are not valid. Sure the final call on every move is up to Melvin but from many accounts, he gives the manager's opinion strong consideration. I have to believe that if he wanted a different 1B, Melvin would have made some moves to at least let him use a guy within our system. I have a very hard time believing that Melvin just put a roster together and said "here is your roster, deal with it." Yes, I believe AA did a lot of meddling in the cases of Lohse and Suppan. Edit:Seems to be confirmed by Melvin that the negotiation was between Boras and MA.

Gomez and Segura batting higher would allow them to play some small ball with their sucky hitters. The problem really isn't Gonzalez batting 5th as much as Gonzalez, "starting 1B."

Which moves are you referring to? There is plenty of evidence that Lohse had quite a bit of AA meddling and Yuni is squarely on Melvin's shoulders. Other than that, we really have not made any moves other than cutting players in camp and that would fall squarely on the manager.

I know some stats stabilize sooner than others. It might take more for a guy who is at the far end of the spectrum. He only walks about once a week. A good stretch of games where he walks would be a drastic improvement over a short amount of time. I wouldn't even bother with the stats in this particular case until about halfway through the season.

You should have gone with Yuni B injured. He hurt his hammy diving for a ball.

Gallardo got hit around and didn't look all htat good but was lucky to limit the damage. Gonzalez is so slow. I can't believe he got thrown out at 2B. Gomez, how can you get picked off there? Weeks, that was a really bad baserunning blunder. Overall F for the team today running the bases. Our bench sucks. A pitcher shouldn't hit for themselves then get pulled from the game. It will start looking better when the drop the extra pitcher, Hart comes back, Green comes back and Yuni gets dropped.

Two years ago he mentioned trying to get his OBP up to .350. You hear that kind of stuff all the time when guys have a huge deficiency in a part of their game.

I really hope that he is learning some discipline. I also hope it doesn't adversely affect the rest of his game.

Why not try Braun on RF to open up our options on the team a bit? Is he that bad in LF that he would crap out in RF? I know he isn't great out there but he has the arm and athletic ability to play ok in the outfield.

If he is so well liked in the locker room, pay him to be the towel boy.
