  1. I don't think considering him an injury risk is a stretch at all. He is 34 so that alone throws up some red flags as far as expected injuries. Add in his recent injury history and I think that points to a higher injury risk.
  2. Here played in all but 13 games which was 8th for all of 3B in baseball. He may have not have been perfectly healthy but he played more games that your average MLB starter so I dont think I would say he didnt have a healthy season. What is a healthy season? Playing every game. Over the course of 162 games - I would assume missing 10-15 games is pretty normal which is right where Ramirez was at and he put up the 3rd best offensive numbers for any 3B. So Ramirez wasn't gimping around for a few weeks barely able to run? Sure he still played but he wasn't exactly healthy.
  3. I am cheering for a monsoon to wash out the rest of the postseason.
  4. I hate to say this, because I am for the most part adamant about not getting attached to pro athletes, but there are some people who would stay away despite winning if their favorite player was traded. For example, I've never followed the Bucks since they traded Ray Allen. Of course, I'm only a casual NBA fan and I'm sure I'm in the vast minority. I know some fans would get upset and stay away but I think the vast majority would get over it in a year or two if the Brewers would start winning.
  5. I think he meant that there have been noticeable drops in run scoring in the last 3ish years.
  6. If at any point after the next few years you think there will be at least 2 years you will not compete for the playoffs, they should strongly consider trading Braun. All baseball players are replaceable. Some are obviously harder to replace than others. If it improves your team in the long term it should be considered. All players will decline at some point.* It's great to have a guy like Braun on the team who might stick around for his whole career but at some point he has to leave either because of declining skills or being traded. I would rather trade him for a good return than wait till he can't play well anymore. *All trades based on good return.
  7. Fans would come back if the Brewers are winning. Winning is all that matters.
  8. I think we went over this before and I think you are right.
  9. They shouldn't be. Which was an incredibly stupid mistake. I expect more from baseball reporters.
  10. I had a hard time envisioning K-Rod accepting the qualifying offer but that happened. I would trade Gomez this offseason as well.* *all trades subject to a good offer.
  11. 38 - Trout Not really even close unless defense and base running are taken completely out. As was pointed out, OBP wOBA WAR the current and last several years of DRS and UZR/150(to see how much value is from defense, then usually half that and average it)
  12. I don't know how that would be a solid argument. Trout's team won more games in a tougher division.
  13. This is quickly cementing the extra wild card, which I didn't really like in the first place, as one of the worst ideas I have seen in baseball in a long time.
  14. I doubt that hurt his defense much. It isn't like he was great at 1B either. They probably should have moved him to LF.
  15. My guess is he got a bit lucky but considering his speed, he may be a guy who carries a high BABIP through his career. Trout vs Cabrera is an interesting MVP topic but I think it will also be interesting to see how much this is debated vs who should win the NL MVP.
  16. Yeah he is pretty bad. You can't make errors on balls you can't get to.
  17. I questioned it because the odds of a guy in his mid 30's who's never been healthy staying healthy for 3 seasons was slim to none. He didn't have a healthy season this year either so those questions have not gone away.
  18. He threw a few people under the bus with some of his recent comments. Not shocking at all.
  19. I think it makes him the MVP. I would disagree with the choice though. The RBI's is the stat that is the worst since it relies almost entirely on position in the batting order. 3-4-5 hitters are going to have way more chances over an entire season to hit with guys on base. Middle of the order hitters on bad teams routinely get many RBI's. Nice accomplishment though.
  20. That is only the hitting WAR. There is also pitching WAR for each team. WAR will not line up with wins. It will probably line up better with run differential. We all know that teams will win more or fewer games than their collective talent and run differential because of strength of schedule and run distribution. WAR is also a counting stat so the fact that Cabrera had more playing time should give him an advantage in that as well. I would easily pick Trout. He hit almost as well, played better than average defense at a premium defensive position, and while I don't value SB much, a 49-3 gap is way to drastic to not give much credence to.
  21. I blame myself for that one. I was posting under the assumption that previous posters had posted accurate stats for Aoki when they said he had a .300 OBP against LHP.(which might have been true at the time) A .300 OBP would scream platoon to me for a corner outfielder. His .269/.321/.390/.711 line against LHP I wouldn't have much problem with. Not great(when you consider right handed corner outfielders are not exactly hard to find) but not worth messing with the lineup.
  22. When Weeks is 100% healthy is is one of the best 2B in baseball, offensively. 2B on average are probably slightly below average hitters. Similar to SS.
  23. How does it look if you include pitching WAR? How does it line up with run differential? I suspect that you will see a better comparison to run differential than wins. We all know teams win more or fewer games than their talent or how well they played every year.
  24. Livan doesn't have stuff or control. He's a body. I'm sick of seeing bullpen's full of Manny Para's. Guys who throw hard and have a decent breaking ball but can't consistently put it within a foot of the plate. Those guys you are talking about are called "starters."
  25. So guys getting on base in front of Weeks, Braun and Ramirez does not matter much? Hard to get RBI's with nobody on base.
