my thoughts with wanting Corey to take more pitches is that I figure the more pitches he sees, the greater the chance that he'll get a fat pitch to square up on. I have no research or stats to back up that claim, but I always just kind of assumed that the more pitches you see, the better your odds of getting one to hit. Fantastic to see Nix and Rickie getting a little something going this inning! -

so I just noticed that Hall/Cam have been switched in the order. Is that a new feature to the lineup? I kind of like it actually, although it makes the bottom 1/3rd of our lineup a little more suspect than it already was. -

I saw the guy with the board behind the plate earlier. in the beggining of the game, his sign said "3TO". I naturally thought of this site.

hopefully our bullpen has got it in them to close this out. I wonder if Yost bats for Sheets? edit: come on Cam, not smart to run into outs when one of the best pitchers in the league is on the mound!

all I can say is that I hope their guy makes a mistake sooner than our guy. it's looking like that's going to be what it comes down to.

somewhat off-topic, but what do the numbers in parenthesis mean in the division standings? more on topic, hopefully we can continue our trend of playing reasonably well against top notch pitchers. Hopefully Sheets can build from his start against Washington and really get on a roll. I'm pretty nervous about the LA series, so it'd be nice to get this game today.

don't really like CC out there this innings. Yost could have double switched out Hall for Counsell and let Villanueva get a couple innings in here. CC doesn't need to throw 120 pitches every night, especially with a 6 run cushion.

does he have to be on the active roster by a certain time to be eligible for the playoffs?

I'd have to say that this road trip and our 10 gamer in the middle of September could be the 2 most critical trips of the year. If we can somehow come away with a 4-2 trip, i think that will go a long way in setting us up to make the playoffs. It always seems like seasons die on the west coast, hopefully that won't be the case this year.
