  1. im with you twobrewers...but we've got an uphill battle with the rest of em...
  2. Yeah, I don't either...that's a huge risk for a player with a brief track record...if he stays joe dimaggio, then great deal...but if he regresses to hank blalock, we're boned
  3. he didn't look like an unstoppable force at UGA
  4. Ned the 4th is a good guy..i've met him a buncha times and we played baseball in the same area growing up...he's a good guy to have around and he's worthy of a minor league job
  5. When did you realize you wanted to teach? Junior year of college, when i realized i didn't want to be a journalist Why do you like teaching? im surrounded by learning...it keeps me on my toes and it is absolutely never boring Where did you go to school for education? university of georgia for an undergrad in english and geography and UNC- Greensboro for a masters in English with licensure Do you have any recommendations for me in the Milwaukee area? I am hardly into the process, but so far I've really only looked into Alverno (I have a friend who is currently in their Masters of Ed program). nope Anything else to add? teaching is incredibly rewarding, but its hard as hell and you will be surrounded by people that hate their jobs---watch any more about triumph in school (dangerous minds, freedom writers, etc...) thats exactly what its not like...however, it is a ton of fun...so long as you maintain high expectations and your own integrity Thanks in advance!
  6. you'd be getting absolutely hosed
  7. dang---there's no good way to spin that...now he's not depth and he has no trade value...this is the suckiest possible outcome in regards to capuano...on top of that, a second tj would probably kill his future effectiveness.. with that news, i think you've got to keep vargas and bush for the depth...now we've got sheets, suppan, bush, vargas, villy and parra healthy...ad gallardo back shortly...that's depth, but it's not the kind you can trade and cut from...
  8. yeah, he's on an arod/hank aarron careeer path now...if you are gonna give out a contract like that, miggy is one of only about 5 guys you should really consider...he's a top five hitter in baseball and 24...this will be a steal ffor them the last few years..
  9. guess ted simmons needs a new watch...
  10. i agree with him to a crtain extent...when your his age...you can't "prove yourself"...people take everything he does as a "last gasp" and assume he can't do it again...even if he had another good year like last year, people would assume he'd just collapse in 2009... it's an odd situation...he's a good bet to be decent this year, but the risks associated with his age make teams want to pay him very little.. lofton is a middle aged rich guy who doesn't want to prove himself...my thoughts would be that he should retire, but i would definitely be frustrated if i was in his position as well... what he really needs is to find someone to give him an incentive laden deal...like 1 up front, but make incentives reach 6-7 million based on ab's...
  11. yeah it was...he signed when he was 16 or 17...he's a b prosspect right now, but he could move up with a better k total this year...i think he'll be a top ten prospect for us if he lights it up in BC
  12. He pitches to contact for the most part and he goes deep into counts...watching him, it's very hard to see why he doesn't strike more guys out... i think he's a starter for the long run
  13. i tell people john goodman is dead all the time...it's just too believable
  14. swish has cf eligibility as well, so if its a position league, he's an excellent pick edit: 10 keepers is an insane amount...i think 4 is borderline too many in the leagues i am in..
  15. moonlight graham or hugh duffy or john anderson or ned garvin and i'm done
  16. i think riske is the actual backup plan...although, it would kinda suck to see the best reliever on the team once again stuck in that closer situation
  17. sometimes you eat the bar (or bear) and sometimes the bar (or bear), it eats you...cowboy in Big Lebowski
  18. it's not the innings with Dusty's style, it's the pitch counts...i'm fine with yo going 200 innings this year, but if he averages 105 pitches a start, he'll be in trouble..
  19. i wonder where that katuluu guy went...i assume he's in some kind of hp lovecraft lovenest with a stack of comics and crappy ole movies
  20. no, i like delmon young... but i also like frank thomas because everyone forgets he exists...and he'll hit 25 bombs this year if healthy...
  21. you gotta look past just drafting a ton of super young guys... im not gonna help you much here because i'm drafting with guys from this site in the next week, but i highly recomend not going to overboard on the young dudes...just because it rarely works out...especially with pitchers... francouer is probably a good bet since he'll probably be in a premuium lineup position and may continue to improve his batting average...
  22. note that Ned did not where or in what year i'm guessing this is what he meant: "Anthony Gwynn's got a hell of a chance of starting on opening day in Nashville in 2007"
